Model building anyone?
Wednesday, August 15th, 2007 - 10:54pm
I've been feeling the urge to try my hand at some model building. Besides Ebay hunting (tough to filter through all the anime babe resin models) anybody have a spot where they buy models online?
I think I'd be more interested in science fiction and anime type models, but who knows?

Gundam modeling use to be a hobby of mine until I upgraded by computer ... to play games ...
The Gundam Shop good for buying Gundams in the states.
I sometimes browse http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/gundam/ for the latest and upcoming models.

Not for everyone, due to either the price or resin being akin to a chick with pms, but some of it's just a joy to paint. You also get to play with them! There are also a few really good books out there on how to work with plasticard as well as 'the green stuff', no idea where your skill level is at though, so that may or may not be plausible. Once you get the hang of it however, it really opens up the fun you can have with the hobby.

I've been bitten by the bug a couple of times. However, lacking a good place to work on models without getting in the way or keeping them safe from cats makes it hard for me to keep my interest up.

Perhaps you should build models of dogs.
I kicked my Gundam and Warhammer 40k habits a looong time ago, but I still get pangs now and then. Especially whenever we're at the local mall and walk past the Games Workshop outlet there. It's especially tough when my kids start asking me what all the different models are.
Remember, kids: ‘videogame’ is one word.
You don't have a hobby shop near you that could hook you up, Karma?

I may, I just don't know it yet. I've seen a couple of hobby shops and have not dared to venture inside just yet.

Most of them that I've known specialize in models and model trains... unless they're craft stores in disguise. Craft stores specialize in smelling like potpourri and making me upset.
