Bugs and Boomshine
Act Casual is a little later than usual this week, so I'm rewarding your patience with a two-fer. First up is Ferry Halim's charming Bugs, which will have you encouraging a little girl to harass hapless insects. Next is Danny Miller's Boomshine, which offers a more abstract (but no less soothing) take on the expanding circle school of game design.
Though I admire the unabashed cuteness of Bugs I'm actually more entranced by Boomshine, probably because level 12 still taunts me with its 96.03% unbeatability. Which do you prefer?

I spent at least two hours with Boomshine once, though I did eventually defeat evil level 12. I felt like I should've been given a prize or at least a cookie.

yeah 240 on boomshine, man that last level was a pain.

I much prefer Boomshine, which i find oddly relaxing. At the higher levels it does seem to be much more luck that skill. I find Halim's games pretty and cute but a bit thin from a gameplay POV.
Boomshine final score: 253

Final score 250, I must have been one short of goal 5 or 6 times. I did manage to finish it in about 15 minutes, that's probably the first game I've finished in quite some time.
226..... I did level 12 in one try tho getting 57/60.
Damn, that took me a bit, but yeah...count me into the 3.97% minority. 264 final score.

267 Level 12 with 58/60. God knows how many tries though.

Took about 10 minutes, and just random placing for the last few levels, but finished. Score: 272
255 on boomshine. Finally figured out that you don't have to hit a dot, but your first placement *is* a dot explosion. Made things so much easier for the last few levels.
Well, Cooking Mama didn't help me become a better cook, and Trauma Center certainly didn't help me become a better surgeon. I have the proof of both sitting in my freezer. -- imbiginjapan
258 with a 58 on level 12. Took me about 5 minutes on 12 to get it. I think I got 54/60 three times before getting a 58. I can't compare the two since I'm at work and the other site is blocked.
My wife "beat" Boomshine. She got 60/60 on the last level and it rocketed her score to the 500's.
My best is 276. Though I have gotten 59/60 at least 3 times.
There has been many a time where, like Elysium, I've spent a good half hour on level 12. There are times where level 11 gives me problems and then miraculously, I've gotten level 12 in 1-2 tries.
Being fangoriously devoured by a gelatinous monster.
I got 270ish on Boomshine (I played it 5 or 6 times all 12 levels)
My top score in Bugs was around 45000

Boomshine is a very mellow game... I took a while to get than hang of the best place and moment to start, but by the end it all started to make sense and I nailed level 12 on the first try...
Really? I just tried to get a spot where I thought that all the dots were converging at different rates.

First person to crash Boomshine, right here.

258 final score. 58/55 for the last stage 12. Pretty cool little game.
