So I was in Ireland back in 2004, and I snagged a copy of The Orange Mocha-chip Frappuccino Years: Ross O'Carroll-Kelly by Paul Howard. Read it, thought it was pretty funny, came home, suggested it to friends, etc. Didn't think much about it since.

Just happened to check Amazon.uk tonight and see that there's like 6 more of these f*ckers been released in the last 4 years. I was going to bite the bullet and order the others from Amazon, but alas, they wish to charge me a whopping 20 pounds just for shipping to the US. Seeing as the dollar is so amazingly weak against just about everything these days, that's something I'd rather not pay.
Hence, my request.

Can any y'all help a yank brother out?

I don't know how many we have here, aside from 1Dgaf, but just thought I'd ask.

Theres a nation-wide postal strike going on at the moment over here and a lot of the sorting offices and redistribution centres are out of action. Its supposed to finish sometime around the 17th of this month, so its probably best to wait til then.

Anyways, after the 17th I'd be happy to help out.

I'll have a look round. How picky are you about condition?

Yeah, it depends on which sorting offices and the like your post has to travel through to get to you. I've been waiting about 2 weeks for some receipts to arrive from Npower. They've sent them out twice and nothings arrived yet.

Hehe, Npower you say.... they can say they sent them out all they want. Personally i've never met an honest power/gas company.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

I'm not all that picky. As long as the pages aren't coming out, I don't really care... I just want them to read.

Searching amazon.com (the US version) for "Ross O'Carroll-Kelly" yields at least a couple of them from the Used&New stores.

all from UK based sellers, which gets into the same 3.99 pounds per book shipping situation. Trust me, I well researched this before posting

Just to confirm, are these the titles you're after?

Ross O'Carroll-Kelly's Guide to South Dublin: How to Get by On, Like, 10,000 Euros a Day
This Champagne Mojito Is the Last Thing I Own
Ross O'carroll-Kelly,PS, I Scored the Bridesmaids
The Miseducation Years: Ross O'Carroll-Kelly
Should Have Got Off at Sydney Parade
The Twelve Days of Christmas
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightdress
The Teenage Dirtbag Years: Ross O'Carroll Kelly

The first one, Guide to South Dublin, has a Used seller called DvdlegacyUK who claims to be based in NJ, United States. Yet his delivery rates are more expensive for the states. Whats that all about?

The book you mentioned is available in the US. Perhaps the others will be too.

EDITED LIST:

*PS, I Scored the Bridesmaids
*The Miseducation Years: Ross O'Carroll-Kelly
*Should Have Got Off at Sydney Parade
*The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightdress
*The Teenage Dirtbag Years: Ross O'Carroll Kelly

the MOJITO one hasn't come out yet, I don't particularly care about the GUIDE book, and the 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS thing is a CD. I think the ones listed above are the books that should be out that I'm interested in.

Maybe it's best to start with this question-- for 5 paperback books, what would it cost for a normal citizen of the UK or Ireland to ship them to the US? 20 pounds seems like a big rip-off to me, but maybe that's just the reality of the situation. Maybe I could get them shipped from amazon.uk FREE to someone living there, and then have them reshipped. Maybe I should just give up... not sure which is easier

Doubtful... it's already been 4 years since the first was published and none of the others have been made available.

I reckon that 5 books could be shipped for around £10. Obviously the 5 books will come to more than that though...

amazon UK was selling them for around £5.50 or so each NEW. Maybe they can be found cheaper used... I don't know. Still, saving £10 is like $20 less for me... so it still might be worth it.

Sorry about the link not working.

Abebooks.com has the following, available in the US. Prices *don't* include delivery.

PS, I Scored the Bridesmaids: Ross O'Carroll-Kelly - $30.26

Miseducation years - $12.84

Should have got off at Syndey parade - $35.73

Curious Incident - $2.75

Teenage Dirtbag years - $12.84

Look at the site.

I did check the site...

come on, man... $35 for a paperback book? It is to laugh.

I'm guessing you looked up the wrong "curious" as well... the original book is "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time," while the one I'm looking for is "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightdress" (which is a play on the other book's title).

I appreciate the effort, though.

PS, I Scored the Bridesmaids - £2.30, Used, amazon
The Miseducation Years: Ross O'Carroll-Kelly - £2.58, New, amazon
Should Have Got Off at Sydney Parade - £2.68, New, amazon
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightdress - £1.50, Used, amazon
The Teenage Dirtbag Years: Ross O'Carroll Kelly - £2.75, Used, amazon
Books total: £11.81

Price of shipping per book to UK: £2.75
Shipping to UK Total: £13.75

Total so far: £25.56

OK, posting to the states is where the sting is going to be. I don't know how big these books are but for comparisons sake I weighed a copy of On the Road. That came to 245g.

So, lets say 5 books @ 245 g each, that comes to 1225 g.

Royal Mail will send a 1225 g packet for..... approx £9.10 by surface mail. Airmail is £13.12.

Grand total is £34.66 or about $70 using surface mail. I could be off on the shipping, I got details from http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?mediaId=400393&catId=400037 which has a confusing table layout for my 8am brain.

Well, since you were an early-ish adopter of the PSP I thought you were a kind of gaming Daddy Warbucks.

So are you saying that you already layed out the money for these? I was hoping someone could find them in their local book shop to avoid the shipping, but if you've already pulled the trigger, let me know the details and we'll figure out a way to make the payment.
