Proposition: Chicago Slap & Tickle
Monday, August 6th, 2007 - 11:57am
Who: Everyone from St. Louis to Sturgeon Bay and from La Crosse to Lexington. Hell, you could be from New York and we'd welcome you and celebrate your escape, providing you can find a way to the Mecca of the Midwest.
What: Drinking, gaming, and maybe some finger --> butt. Pillows of heterosexuality optional.
Where: Chicago, because there's nowhere else worth being. The suburbs don't count this time.
When: I'm thinking some time in maybe October.
Why: Because I told you to.
How: Through perseverence and stubborn drunkenness.
Thoughts?

Yay!
I'm in DC the first weekend of October, ie Columbus Day weekend. My personal preference would be a Friday night over Saturday but it may be a non-issue come October.
JUST PUZZLED YOUR ASS UP, SON! -Mr Crinkle
I'll be in Chicago with Demi starting Wednesday and leaving Sunday night. We will be busy during the day at Wizard World but I may be up for a drink or two at night. Just putting it out there, I really don't know if we are going to have time but who knows.

I'm currently planning on being at Goose Island Brewery friday night for a friend's show. You guys should join me.

I've got Frisbee on Wednesday, but I might be able to swing something afterwards or on Thursday night.

Yep, Sept/Oct/Nov look clear.

Did anyone want to get together tonight?
Also, I just remembered that my local bar (an Irish-ish thing in Greektown) is 4 blocks from either train station and has a back room that I think they'll reserve for free. No board games, though.

Wizard World Chicago is actually in Rosemont. Wha?

Rosemont is a place of many mysteries.

I can't tonight, but I'm planning on going to Wizard World on Saturday, and hoping to get together with Demi and Gaald, atleast get to meet them at the EOJ booth. If anyone wanted to meet up after the con wraps up at 7 on Saturday that would be cool. I don't know the area at all though. So, I would need to be able to mapquest it before Saturday.
Also, as far as a S&T goes in October, I'm totally down. Just not Oct. 2-5, I'm in Vegas for SAP TechEd conference.
And there's nothing wrong with the 'burbs.
At least everything isn't as horribly overpriced as in the city.

You're in the wrong parts of town. You wouldn't believe the discounts I could get you in some of the... less traveled neighborhoods.
As for Saturday, I was planning on spending the day strung between the Naperville polo fields for a frisbee tournament and the far reaches of Lake and McHenry Counties up north. There's a decent chance I'll be passing through or free for dinner if you guys pick a place.

You better be talking about a different disk sport, because if you are calling Ultimate "Frisbee" you sir a dead to me!
Seriously though where I play you would get your head bitten of for that.
As for a get together, I know Saturday is bad for Cory. We are actually heading out for somewhere we don't know where, Wordsmythe check your GWJ INBOX.

I actually call it Frisbee intentionally to make the purists' heads explode. I also prefer playing barefoot and not calling picks or travels.
Sorry I didn't check back to GWJ until after the Sox game ended. If you're out by the convention, I would have had a hard time getting to you anyway, but would have suggested the Hooters off the highway near the Cumberland exit. You can walk there from the Blue Line stop. I think there's a Giordano's over there, too. Better food, but probably worse scenery.

Well Demi, my friend and I wandered over to the blue line and than Demi bailed, Gaald 1 Demi 0. So the friend and I took the Blueline to Damen, had a few drinks at the Tequila Lounge. The music was good the booze was cheap, we had a good time. Now I needs my sleep!
Maybe I will catch you guys on Saturday or something.

Well, I expect a stellar demo of Eye of Judgement.
And if you are up for going out on Saturday after the show, that will be cool. If not I understand, you've had a long several days I'm sure.

I do wish I would have been more on the ball last night. Wicker Park's only 15 minutes from my place via the CTA.
Also, I'm going to call you a hipster from now on, because it amuses me.

Sorry I didn't come out tonight, it was great to meet you though. My foot (had surgery on it about a month ago) was really sore after walking around the convention, plus at the end someone stepped on it.
So, I don't think I would have been able to make it out tonight. Have fun in Indy next week.

Don't worry about it. We went to this place called Goose Island or something like that. Had some of their beers ate lots of food, but I was so bagged from the previous two nights I bailed early. It was great meeting you to though. One more day, one more day!

Good Island makes some nice beers, and they're a lot better from their taps than bottled.
Yeah, it's a shame we didn't meet up, but I'm pretty much spent anyway. Long, long weekend.

Ha. I was at Goose Island Friday night. Strange that that's where you'd go.

We got distracted by Gaald and Demi being in town. Time to refocus. So, October-ish?
But I picked up Cash n' Gunz at GenCon.

They might let us play games if we bring them ourselves. I can't see why they wouldn't, in fact.
I'll ask them about specifics next time I drop in.
Joe's on Weed St. is turning trivia nights into some sort of league competition. There's a decent possibility that I'll be checking out the update tonight.

I could do a Chicago rendezvous. Place with a back room that can be blocked off on an offnight or something would be good.
Joe's is solid. Close to the Red line.
BTW, Wordsmythe, what was the name of the Summer League team you were playing on (i'm late to the thread)? I play Ultimate in Chicago as well.
