Less Shame, More Game

Here's the next set of goals for the Pile of Shame. If you don't have any of the games listed in your pile, feel free to play something else. The goal is to decrease the backlog, have an area to discuss and have fun playing through some of these great games that a lot of us bought and for some reason never played or finished. The goal is to finish ONE game on this month's list. If you have all of the games below on your list, don't feel compelled to complete all of them.

I've added a multi-platform title. If you own it for any of the platforms it's available on, and it's in your pile, go for it.

Here we go again:

Multi-Platform
Resident Evil 4 - Hemidal, Edwin, Wrestlevania, Quintin_Stone, warning, McChuck, Thin_J, Dysplastic (next!)
Guitar Hero 2 - Rubb Ed, wordsmythe, Fyedaddy
Beyond Good and Evil - Prederick

PC
Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne - buzzvang, Deserter, Edwin (next!)
System Shock 2 - Chumpy_McChump
Neverwinter Nights 2 - Parallax Abstraction
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines - Prederick

Xbox 360
Condemned - Trachalio, Podunk, LiquidMantis, Danjo Olivaw
Dead Rising - Chumpy_McChump
Crackdown - Tobyus (next!)
The Darkness - Tobyus (next!)

Wii
Super Paper Mario - Parallax Abstraction (next!), Dysplastic

Nintendo DS
New Super Mario Bros.
Pokemon Pearl - Farscry, Marchavius
Final Fantasy III - Mystic Violet
Yoshi's Island 2 - Fyedaddy (next!)

Playstation 2
God of War
Downhill Domination - Edwin

Xbox
Fable
Grand Theft Auto III - mateo

Gamecube
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes - Fedaykin98, Deserter, tonkatsu

Dreamcast
Sonic Adventures - Vrikk

SNES
Chrono Trigger - Vrikk (next!)

We've got until the end of August for these. Let's get to work!

I'd suggest making your own threads about the individual games, as we got rather crowded in the last thread. Post here to claim the games you're playing.

Edit - Removed comment about last month's thread being source for initial names on list.

Wow... The Frozen Throne. I never finished it because I didn't particularly like the undead. Yeah, I'll take that one.

If I can add one since none of the ones on this list apply to me (Frozen Throne does, but I want to replay WC3 first, and those are long-term games I take my time with), then I'll add one I need to crack down on and get to finishing the main quest for: Pokemon Pearl (DS). Finishing it this month should be a doable task, then I can get to work on the even more fun post-story stuff.

Put me down for Condemned. Picked it up the other weekend and haven't been able to stop playing. Finishing the game should be a fairly reachable goal for me this time around

Put me down for GH2 360 (two songs left on Expert) and Yoshi's Island 2 DS. Those are close enough to the end where I should be sure to complete them soon. That should also give me time to settle on a meaty choice from the PC stack.

I'm new to this but I have Resident Evil 4, tried it once and didn't like it. But I'm prepared to give it another (more fair) chance so I'm up for RE4.

I got a head start on RE4 last weekend. I'm glad it took me forever to get to this game. It's great on the Wii.

I'll sign on for Condemned too. Of course since my wife and kids just left for Colorado and I'm in an empty-except-for-the-TV-360-and-futon house I don't know if the neighbors will be able to put up with my girl-like screams in the middle of the night.

My pile of shame is one game high, occupied only by Condemned. If I don't think it's any fun, do I have to finish it?

Since I don't see Hot Fudge Sundae Commander II on that list, put me down for Metroid Prime 2.

*sigh* ...dead rising (still). Oh, and System Shock 2, which I started last month and which interfered with my Dead Rising (as did Bomberman Live, Gears (with Beers!) and a 5-month old).

I do intend to finish Condemned whenever it comes up on my GameAccess queue. I'm working on Super Paper Mario right now.

I have a nice lead on Chrono Trigger (just got to the Kingdom of Zeal where I meet mini-Magus) and Sonic Adventure (50% through Sonic's story), so I should be able to finish both of these before my 3rd year starts on the 27th. I can tell you right now that once my studies pick up again my goal will become beat a game within the semester that isn't less than 10 hours long.

I'll have (another) stab at WC3: FT and I'll attempt to pry my better half away from the TV long enough to complete Metroid Prime 2. I'm about halfway through, but she does love her DVDs...

I'm actually liking Super Paper Mario a lot. It has some of the most brilliant level design I've seen in years. And it's definitely more platformer than RPG which is cool. It does have the typical Paper Mario issues like ridiculously long-winded dialogue and occasional puzzles that require a ton of backtracking and solutions you have to be on Focusin (tm) to figure out but I'm still really liking it. I'm at about 8 hours and am only starting world 6 of 8.

I have nothing on that list. How about one of the Grand Theft Auto Series languishing on my shelf? I have III, Vice City, and San Andreas, all Xbox titles that will get run on my 360.

Yeah, lets start with GTA III, and work our way through them.

I'm going to list it on the original platform, even though you'll be playing on the 360.

Well, FF3 (SNES) doesn't really count anymore since it has been correctly renamed FF6 in the states.

Agreed. My main complaint is that you can ONLY switch to 3d with mario, which inevitably means that you'll be playing 90% of the game with mario becuase switching characters constantly is just annoying. It's really to bad, because princess is definitely my favorite (She's reminiscent of Mario 2 for the NES). Also, navigating the main town near the end has become annoying due to it's extensive size an seemingly endless elevator rides.
Speaking of long-winded puzzles, have you gotten to the one where you have to manually type in "please" using the console naming interface about 7 times? We get it, nintendo. It's annoying.

The boss battles is where the game really shines. The game gives you a lot of different ways to defend yourself/inflict damage on the bosses once you get a bunch of pixls, which is nice and somewhat unusual for a mario game.
