July 30th - August 3rd
I hope you've been saving your money, because a reckoning is coming. This week may be one of the last for some time where I can comfotably say that there isn't much to get excited about, and while I'm going to casually cast Game of the Week to Mario Strikers Charged on the Wii, it is with little fanfare that I do so. But that's all about to change. Do you have any idea how many big games are set to arrive this year? Bioshock, Halo 3, Grand Theft Auto IV, Mass Effect, Rock Band, Call of Duty IV, Warhawk, Lair, Assassin's Creed, Hellgate: London, Tabula Rasa, Unreal Tournament III, Mercanaries II, World In Conflict, and more, all still to come this year. Now, granted some of those are probably going to get pushed back -- I'm looking at you Hellgate: London and Assassin's Creed -- but even still that's an impressive list, and while you may not be excited about everything, it's certain that one or two games are on your radar. So Mario Strikers Charged is the official Game of the Week, but the future is where the action is.
Save your money! The reckoning _is_ coming.
Has it been too long since you yelled "Sparta"? Well, this week's DVD release gives you a new opportunity with the DVD release of 300. Also, Hot Fuzz lands on DVD this week, and more.

Is it me or do quality FPS titles all tend to come out within a couple of months of each other?

Didn't see Hot Fuzz until 3 or 4 weeks ago - and it's definitely the best and most entertaining movie I've seen this year so far. Not a single boring second in the movie. I'll pick up the DVD the minute it comes out over here.
Bratz Ponyz. Hmm. Ponyz with a "Z"? Because ponies are so f*cking street?

I wish it was only one or two games. Even if Assassin's Creed and Hellgate London slip, that still leaves these before the end of the year:
Unreal Tournament 3
HL2: EP2 / Team Fortress 2 / Portal
Left4Dead
Bioshock
Mercenaries 2
Kane and Lynch
Stranglehold
Call of Duty 4
Mass Effect
Halo 3
GTA4
That's like $700 worth of games. AND I WANT THEM ALL.

That is one hell of a list. Fortunately, I can automatically ignore any titles that aren't coming out for 360 or PC.

Ahem. I don't see Rock Band on there anywhere. Are you deserting Rock Out With Your Cocktopus Out already?

I think Bioshock will be pushed back also. To like, November.
After all, they must be very busy cramming all those "moral choices" into the game. Such as, do I shoot this little girl now, or do I beat her to death with my flashlight to conserve ammo ?
If we're playing this game:
August
Bioshock
September
Halo 3
October
Disgaea PSP
FFT PSP
Half Life 2: Orange Box
Zelda Phantom Hourglass
Panzer Tactics
Hellgate: London
November
Unreal Tournament 3/2K7
Assassin's Creed
Mass Effect
Rock Band
There are a large handful of others with either indefinite release dates or I'm not ardent about owning them right away. Who am I kidding? I've already spending more than I planned on current games. This fall is going to break me. I am definitely signing up for Gamefly. No question.

Metroid Prime 3
Sept:
Oct:
Half Life Orange Box
November:
Mario Galaxy
Is Zelda: Phantom Hourglass for the DS? I might be getting that, too.

Hope you guys don't mind me using your guys list but it's pretty accurate for me as well, though I probably won't buy Mario Galaxy right away, it looks meh to me and I will hold off on Rock Band as well, it looks awesome but way to expensive for all the games coming out.
Edit: I forgot to mention either or both NHL 08 and 2k8.
Still that's way to many games coming out in the next 6 months, but a great time to be a gamer

Still, there will be so much out there, that your lists missed even... World in Conflict.
Not to mention Quake Wars, new Medieval: TW expansion, Jericho, NWN2 expansion, new NeedforSpeed and Gears for PC.
INT is my dump stat.

I have some bizzaro stuff on my list that hasn't made any others I see here. They are Wii titles that have not gotten nearly enough attention. And before anyone starts up the debate I have no problem with any other platforms I just like the look of these games:
1. Trauma Center new blood - I liked the first one and leaderboards + Co-op play have me stoked
2. Battalion Wars 2 - If you never played the first one on cube check it out, an awesome hybrid of RTS and third person action.
3. Zack and Wiki - Ignore the horrid name it looks like a really cool puzzle adventure game even with its childish art style.
Seeing as how this year has so many awesome releases maybe we aught to start a what are your plans for the rest of the year thread.

Personally, I think btw Mass Effect and Bioshock I'm set until about mid 2008. I just don't think I'll even have time to get to... *gasp* ... Halo3!
The Witcher... forgot about that one. But I have to find a computer that can run STALKER first.
At this rate I may buy all my games from the bargain bin and never play a new one again.
