ComicCon: Iron Man Footage
Sunday, July 29th, 2007 - 10:22pm
Someone managed to get a decent clip of the Ironman movie footage shown at ComicCon and I was just blown away. I was a Iron Man fan during my comic collecting days and watching this brought out the child-like joy that I had when I saw the trailers for X-Men, Superman Returns, etc etc.

Awesome, awesome, awesome. It seems like this might set the Marvel movies back on track away from the Fantastic Fours and Ghost Riders duds.

OMG, that looks like it won't suck! In fact, it looks awesome!

I almost wet myself, when I saw the original suit.
That does look very cool. Here's hoping the actual movie lives up to the potential of that trailer.

That looked way better than I thought it was going to. Seeing him flying with the F-22s was pretty cool. Marvel can both impress me instantly with their movies and depress me just as fast, this one is definitely in the impress me category so far.

Well, I don't like to toot my own horn, but I'm a pretty good amateur rectal photographer. Would you like to see my portfolio?

Yea too late for us to see it.
Edit add: FOUND IT!!! A little dark but still most impressive.

Another Edit Add: BTW Samuel L. Jackson chosen to play Agent Nick Fury? While I can see Jackson playing Nick Fury in attitude and presence there is just one thing a touch wrong with the pairing. Nick Fury is a white guy. Samuel L. Jackson is a black guy. So what they are saying is they couldn't find a white guy bad ass enough to play Nick Fury? Just seems odd considering there are a few actors out there that could do the job as well as Jackson could and they better match the look of Nick Fury in the comics. Michael Bean or Viggo Mortensen or even bring back Hugh Jackman in another Marvel release. Eh.. I guess I'm being a bit too critical on the choice. Robert Downey Jr. surprisingly seems to do the part of Stark justice.

Kil,
A wikipedia article says Nick Fury is black in one of the comics and the character, during a discussion about who would play him in a film, says Samuel L. Jackson should.

I wonder if Robert Downey Jr. can pull off playing a rich, substance-abusing playboy. Hmmm.

A Marvel series Ultimate started in 2000 which is the one that made General Nick Fury a black man and is drawn just like Samuel L. Jackson trumps the concept of Nick Fury that goes back to 1963. You don't think there is a problem with that? I think that just sucks and I still say he shouldn't be Nick Fury.

Don't shoot the messenger. I didn't say I agreed / disagreed with this. I gave a reason for why it might be.
Now, since it seems you are incensed, I suggest you take out your frustrations by smacking that comic's writer square in his stupid face.

Always saddens me greatly to see people get bothered by an actors skin color when it comes to a movie role based on a fictional character. I guess we still as a society have a LONG ways to go.
As for the trailer.. it seemed that at first he had the older Suit (Marvel Golden Era) and then later in the trailer it looked more modern.. if so very cool!
Aint nothing new about the world order..it's been playing since the day they put George Washington on a quarter

Nick Fury was a combination of James Bond and Sgt. Rock, neither of which are original Marvel creations. The Ultimate version of Fury is much more interesting. He's driven to protect the United States and doesn't care who he has to use to do it. Bryan Hitch clearly used Samuel Jackson for the visual style when he first drew him, so why not have Sam Jackson play Fury in the movie? Hell, if the Bond franchise can get a reboot/timeshift, why should a new movie be mired in 40+ years of continuity?

See, while I like Sam and I am excited to see him take this role, I can understand people wanting it to be faithful to the cannon.
How about we pitch the role to Pauley Shore, Dustin Diamond, or Joe Pesci and see if they can pull it off better than Sam.
After All, they are actors that happen to fit that white guy criteria
I haven't kept up with Nick Fury since I twelve or thirteen, but the idea of Samuel L. Jackson portraying him?
That has got to be the greatest idea since bacon salt!
That role is almost tailor-made for Jackson. I dont know about the new Nick Fury, but the one I remember, had exactly the same attitude and swagger Jackson displays on-film.

Is this the Nick Fury you were thinking of?
I sincerely hope not.

Awesome with even more awesome on top! Best part? Sabbath playing during the big reveal, of course. (III AMMM IIIRONN MANNNN!!! ) I really hope they keep that in the final cut of the film.
As far as I'm concerned, Jackson can play any role of any ethinicity. If that role requires a bad@$$, he fits the bill.

Michael Clarke Duncan was the only good thing that came out of the abomination known as Daredevil. I'll admit first time I saw it I was like "Whoa king pin isn't black!" but he pulled it off while Ben Affleck and Colin Farrel stunk up the joint.
Really wish they could re-introduce him into a spider man or punisher movie but then again they make more garbage then hits so I'm not sure if I really want them making anything
I <3 Ironman. My first powerful character in City of Heroes was based on him; Fire Iron.

I loved the clip and I'm now an official fanboy.

In regards to the Sam Jackson being Nick Fury thing, I have no problem with that, I think he can pull it off. And if I'm correct, they not only drew Fury like Jackson in the Ultimates, they actually got his permission to do so. And maybe this is Marvel's way of stating that this version of Iron Man is the version from the Ultimate universe?
