Buy 1600 Live Arcade pts, get 1600 pts FREE @ CircuitCity, BestBuy, Target
Sunday, July 29th, 2007 - 10:15am
Hello everyone,
Just wanted to give all a heads up about a great deal this week. Starting today at Circuit City (or get BestBuy, Target to match the deal in the circular) there is buy any 360 accessory for $20+ get $20 off another one. This is a great deal to pick up some Microsoft Points for Live Arcade, it's basically buy 1600pts and get 1600pts FREE!!!! Also, this will work for any other accessory, but I think the Live Arcade pts really make this deal.

Thanks, I'm going to get me some points today!
pretty cool. I saw over on Evil Avatar a rumor that the premium version is getting a 50 dollar price cut, theres a picture on the forums of a Toys R Us flyer with the price cut. Looks legit.

It's worth noting that a headline I saw on the same price drop rumor apparantly showed a wal-mart flyer, but it's been said multiple places now that Best Buy, Circuit City, and Target all have no such price drop advertised in their flyers for the same week.
I may pick up a couple of those point cards. It might be a while before I make use of all those points but at least they'll be there when I need them

I would be skeptical of anything Circuit City has on sale, even after I bought something from Circuit City. I'm looking at the ad now, and it seems legit... hmm I suspect bait-and-hide, the way of CC.

Just got back from BestBuy (they had at least a dozen cards in stock) and they matched the Circuit City sale with no problems. The ad they had instore is exactly the same one as online, the sale is good. Spent $40 and got $80 worth of Live Arcade games, can't beat that

On the Circuit City website it now looks like the offer is "Save $20 with purchase of any 2 Xbox live accessories 19.99 & up". Still pretty good, but not quite buy one get one free good.

Well, given that the cards are $19.99, and buying two of them will only cost you the price of one after the $20 savings, it sounds like buy one get one free to me. Am I missing something?

Exactly that. It's spend $20 and get $20 off any other accessory that is at least $20. Since the 1600pt card is $20, it's essentially "buy one get one free."

You're right, I was reading it wrong. Give me a complex integration and I'm fine; it's the simple algebra problems that I always screw up. Sorry for the confusion.

Of course my local CC was completely out of 1600 point cards.
There are lots of rumors flying about problems with this deal. Several posts over at cheapassgamer.com have said that the manager refused to honor their printed deal. Lots of posts about CC not having any points when they opened today.
I took advantage of the printed ad, and had Best Buy price match it. Good luck to anyone who tries and gets some cheap points today.

CC website has been down for 1.5 hours too with a message that product information is being updated.

Yeah, I hit 2 Circuit City stores and a nearby Target. None of them had any 1600 point cards. The CSR at the second CC store checked the inventory for all the stores in the area, and NONE of them had any in stock.

The eBayers scooped this one up super quick. I hear you can ask them to order the cards for you and they'll honor the price, but good luck getting them to actually follow through.

Circuit City here was sold out, of course. Whenever they have a sale, they always are sold out, even if you go there when the store opens.

There are a lot of reports of folks arriving within an hour and the store being sold out. The typical story is that someone comes in upon opening and buys out the inventory. I dont doubt it with sites like slickdeals, fatwallet and cheapassgamer. It's too bad they dont limit these kind of offers to X# of items per person, otherwise all it results in is frustration for everyone but the one hoarder who got through the doors first, or ordered them up the night before in anticipation of getting the prices adjusted.

Does the online store honor the deal?
Nope; they say the cards have to be purchased in-store.

Thanks guys, I got mine at the Best Buy last night (Circuit City was completely sold out... though I got there late Sunday afternoon so I don't know whether or not they actually had some in stock...) So went next door to Best Buy and got the last two on the rack and they honored it.
"sold out" at my local circuit city. They pretended to look in the back for more. I picked up vision camera and Windows xbox360 wireless receiver instead. Took them 5 minutes just to ring me up with the discount. I hate circuit city.

I was able to pick up 2 today (they only had 3). When I went to pay, they were going to charge me full price until I mentioned the add. I also bought 2 of the extended Lord of the Rings discs for $8.99 each - the clerk ended up charging all 4 items at $8.99 each so I got 3200 points for $17.98. Woo-hoo I got over Circuit City for $2.01!
I stumbled upon this at CAG; if you haven't preordered Halo 3, this may work for you.
Preorder Halo 3 online at Best Buy, and you can choose their 1600 marketplace points for $4.99 deal. You can then up the number of 1600 point cards in your cart to 3, and checkout. I did it with in store pickup, and they sold me 3 1600 cards for $4.99 each.
Now, they may try to sell me 3 halo 3s in sept, or they may up the price for the other 2 cards to 19.99 at that point. They are bastards, after all. I'm hanging onto 2 of the cards just in case. But so far, its a pretty good deal.

I just took advantage of this deal at Circuit City last night, even though they were sold out. How? "Special Order" I put in a special order for my cards and paid for the one card in advance. Supposedly they're going to call me when the cards come in and I can just show them the receipt to get the deal.
I think I'll have to take advantage of the BB online deal right now too.. Man, I hope there'll be something worthwhile to spend all these points on!
