I guess it comes out Dec 18th.

I think I'll stick with the $35 4 Disc version. I'm looking forward to seeing this final cut. I think it is cool of them to include 4 (I think) different cuts of the movie on these sets as there seems to be so much disagreement among the fans about which one is the best.
I've only seen the 1992 Director's Cut version, without the narration, should be interesting to see what all the fuss is about.

It also needs to be mentioned that the DVD set is coming on both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD as well as DVD.
Now that I have a PS3 and have been renting Blu-Ray movies from Netflix, I think I will have to get this on Blu-Ray.

My wife says I can't buy it. Something about the holiday season is involved.
Extremism in the defense of liberty *is* a vice. It has been since the first Crown Loyalist was tarred, feathered and set afire, and it's no better now. It corrupts first the individual, then ultimately the institution it defends.
I just found the preorder on Amazon:

30 % OFF = not bad!
Price: $54.99

Okay, I don't get it... 5 discs for one movie? A 117 minute movie? Why? There can't be that many extras, can there?
Okay, maybe there can be that many, but why would you want that many?
EDIT: Just read one of the comments on Amazon. Seriously, 5 different versions of the film, a feature length documentary, and 8 - that's E-I-G-H-T - featurettes? Serious overkill.

I've more or less sworn off buying non-HD DVDs (though I own neither a Blu-Ray nor an HD-DVD drive), and there is no way in heck I would buy an SD version of something this expensive. So until it's obvious that an HD format has prevailed, and until I own a player for that format, I'll have to abstain.
Btw the only version I've seen is the original with narration, and I dug the narration. This from someone who now looks at all that inner monologue in Dune as silly.

You can't overkill Blade Runner.
My days of not taking you seriously have certainly come to a middle.

Hmm that youtube trailer didn't wow me. The audio sounded weird to me. Still I'll most likely get it. I love that movie, and I like the narration.
I saw a new longer version of Dune so all I need now is some spiffy new version of Excalibur!
Been waiting for this for years. YEARS. That Amazon place-marker has been there since 2005. Hopefully this set won't get canned.
don't you wonder sometimes...
from what I've read elsewhere, I'm probably one of the few people who LIKE the theatrical cut much more than the "Director's" cut... and yes, I am a big NOIR fan and I LIKED the voice-over. Too bad I haven't been able to buy a copy of that film on DVD before this... I doubt I'll pay even $35 for the film, though... I'm not that big of a fan.

I've been waiting for Harrison Ford's gun from Blade Runner to go on sale.
Go for their eyes boo
Blade Runner was the first ever DVD I owned. If I had a HD player I would do this but I don't.

I agree with you, Ford's naration made the movie much more enjoyable.

I agree too. Without the voice over I get a little sleepy in parts.
The voice over made the movie make more sense. Without it, it seems far more post-modern. I'd call Blade Runner one of my favorite movies, but I'd never pay that much for a single movie.

Big thumbs-down to the tacked on voice over. I will like having it on DVD (well, Blu-Ray) for posterity though.

The voice over was terrible and completely unnecessary.

Ditto!
I'm also one of the voiceover haters. They completely ruined the ending scene with the voiceover.
As far as the box set goes:
Shouldn't that say "a collection of precious photos"?
I also dont' think I'd want to see all the "magic" behind the making of the movie. Some things are better left unearthed. Although, I would love to hear Harrison's commentary on the voiceover. I heard that the producers made him do it after the movie was complete, and he really didn't want to. Which is what came out as a really terrible voiceover in the theatrical version.

SommerMatt hating on the haters? What is the world coming to? Then again, you *are* evil, so you would like that atrocious narration and tacked on happy ending, wouldn't you?
He was a bit unhappy with the narration, yeah.
And obviously, I'm so getting this. I've held off on picking up Blade Runner because this thing has been rumoured for so long, and the existing dvd is so rubbish.

Same here, but like I said I'll be waiting until a clear HD victor has emerged.

Arise!
Mind you, I (meaning whoever in my family splurged for it this X-Mas) didn't drop all the dinero for the 5-disc set (just the Final Cut and documentary), but I honestly have to say Blade Runner is and always will be one of the top sci-fi films of all time. If I had to do a top three of the genre, this would be second just behind Stanley Kubrick's 2001 and just ahead of Fritz Lang's Metropolis. What makes the latest release so special (from a movie buff's standpoint) is the "Dangerous Days" documentary outlining all aspects of production from when Philip K. Dick's story was first optioned to the reaction from such sci-fi luminaries as Guillermo del Toro and Ronald D. Moore over the film. Hopefully I can strong-arm my father, with whom I co-produce our own minor production company, into watching this documentary just to see how when a major Hollywood feature can go so wrong and yet be so right.
