Heavenly Sword Demo (PSN) Available 07/26/07
Not sure if anyone knew this or posted this yet (see below from IGN).
"One of the games many PlayStation 3 owners have been keeping their eyes out for is the upcoming action title Heavenly Sword. Following the tale of Nariko, a heroine wielding a mystical sword that's constantly draining her life, Heavenly Sword is a tale of revenge and survival. At E3, we were impressed that the game featured defensive missions, new characters and additional styles on top of the huge action sequences that the game is known for. As a result of the demo, we couldn't wait to get more time with Nariko.
Fortunately for us and other PlayStation 3 owners, the wait won't be long. The main attraction for this Thursday's PlayStation Network update will be a Heavenly Sword demo. While we're not sure if the demo will be the one shown at E3, we're sure that there will be plenty of enemies to eliminate with Nariko's martial abilities.
We'll also be receiving the latest build of Heavenly Sword later this week, and we'll be posting updated impressions on the game as soon as it enters the office."

Sweet. Since I heard this was coming, I skipped the E3 videos. I look forward to being as impressed by the game as the media at E3 seemed to be.

Well aside from being 6 minutes long how is the demo...is the gameplay good/bad? Did they include any of the story line in the demo?

The demo sucks. It suck suck suck suck suckity suck sucks. You do NOT put out a demo with three minutes of combat and a quicktime event and call it a day. It gives me zero time to get a feel for the controls or the scope of the game. Unless I decide to play the same five minutes over and over, I won't be able to work past my initial impression that the combat feels stunted and boring despite the extra stances and plentiful combat moves shown in the list.
I still have hope for the game, but the demo didn't help.

I'm with Certis on this one, this demo only managed to seriously dull my enthusiasm for the game and the fact that it's yet another game with QTEs just irritates the hell out of me. I haven't completely written it off, but unless it gets fantastic reviews from people around here I will probably wait for some major price drops on it.

Just played through three times and I agree...it's a pretty lame demo. The game looks good (a notch or two above God of War) but I'm still feeling like the combat is more button mashing then actual calculated stances/combos.

I had the same feeling, it's combat system didn't feel anywhere near as cohesive as God of War. But that could just be my unfamiliarity with the controls.

I'm just perplexed as to why anyone thought that demo might entice someone to buy the game. I felt like I was playing a prettier version of Golden Axe, only in that game, what I was doing and to whom was more evident.
Did everyone else just stare in disbelief at their screen when the demo ended so abruptly? I actually wondered what I'd missed, and why the game was punishing me.
NO JUMP BUTTON!?
Graphics aren't groundbreaking but still very good. Framerate is pretty iffy though. I hope they can improve that because it's a little distracting for a fast-action game like this. Nothing deal-breaking though.
The combat system is God of War with fancy stances, which is not a bad thing but I'd love to see a game like this have a combat system that's a little less twitchy and more thoughtful. The SIXAXIS motion control for recovering is a nice touch though. Not that pressing any button wouldn't have done the same job but still...
The QTE's are pretty forgiving, especially compared to her boyfriend's game.
The lack of a jump button worries me. No platforming elements? Do you get to do anything between the fights or is it button mashing for 15 hours?
