Don't know if this has been posted anywhere, but I got these modes off the Bomberman Live Hudson page. I see a ton of potential with these modes. Especially the revenge modes.

Normal – The classic, last man standing Bomberman mode.

Paint Bomb – The goal here is to paint as many tiles as you can using the explosions from your bombs. Your bombs still kill other players, and when you get a frag, that player's tiles are erased! Stay alive and keep painting!

Zombie – Like Paint Bomb mode, but you can't die! Your little guy keeps getting back up, over and over, until time expires. However, there's still a penalty: you lose all of your power-ups and painted tiles when you get hit by a bomb! Zombie matches might very well come down to a last-second bomb!

Tournament – Choose the number of maps, the actual map rotation, power-ups, and see who's the winner when all is said and done!

You can also customize nearly every aspect of the gameplay: set the number of wins required, time limit, number of players, which maps to play, and even special options like:

Revenge: Death isn't the end! After you get bombed, you hop in a kart on the side of the arena and get to toss bombs at the living as you move around the edge.

Super Revenge: Just like Revenge, but if you successfully bomb someone, you jump back into play! If you're lucky enough to be one of the last few left standing, look out, because everybody will be gunning for you!

Sudden Death: Falling blocks that squish your character kick in when time runs out, starting at the outside of the arena, then working their way in towards the center, resulting in less and less space to run around!

Those revenge modes ARE awesome. Regular revenge was in the Cube Bomberman title, and the new revenge mode sounds great.

They did that in the Dreamcast version and it was really a blast (so to speak).

That sounds about right.

I have to say... I'd much rather have a Xbox Live version of Chu-Chu Rocket. That game destroyed my mind on the Dreamcast.

Any word on whether I can bring a "guest" online for some versus action? I know local multiplayer is available.

I was wondering the same thing and I saw this in a developer interview

"3- Give us all the Multiplayer Details for Bomberman Live, Locally/Online.

You can play with up to 4 people locally and up to 8-players over Live. You can also play with 4 players local against 4 players over Live. That's going to make for some fantastic matches! There are also 20 leaderboards that allow you see how you stack up against the rest of the world over Xbox Live."

www.thexboxdomain.net/2007/06/25/bomberman-live-developer-interview/

If you can do 4 local vs 4 live, surely you can do 2 local vs 6 live?

I swung by my place during lunch to give it a quick play, so based on about 20 minutes...

It's as good or better than any Bomberman I've ever played. It feels a lot like Bomberman on Dreamcast, with all the classic cartoony sound and graphics, yet the customization options are surprisingly deep. For instance, you can select sets of powerups to include based on their complexity; "beginner" appears to only include speed up and bomb power ups, whereas the more advanced modes add in additional stuff. I'm pretty sure you can manually select and de-select powerups as well.

You unlock costume parts by finding little gems in game. I was playing against 1 friend (local) and 6 CPUs and found one, which says to me you don't have to play online to unlock stuff if you don't want to. The game did indicate to me that I'd found a new costume part, though locating the actual new one was a little more difficult.

One thing I noticed and loved was that if a game has nothing but CPU players left in it, you can opt for a quick resolution that instantly decides which CPU player would have won the round, so you don't need to sit around waiting. It probably runs the actual calculations for this rather than randomly selecting a CPU, as once it resolved as a "draw."

Load times are very fast, as you might expect, and the action was fast with absolutely no signs of slowdown, even with 8 players bombing furiously.

The only problem I ran into was that it was a little difficult to tell powerup icons apart. I was sitting a fair distance away from my TV though, so I'm sure not everyone will experience the same.

All in all, looks like a real winner, perhaps everything we'd hoped for.

Just downloaded and played for a few minutes. It's been a long time since I've played Bomberman, but it's still a total blast. The Live version doesn't skimp on options, either - there are tons of play styles, powerup options, unlockables, etc.

Bomberman on the SNES was the first 4-player game I ever played, and it remains one of the best in each iteration that I've seen with 4-player gameplay. Very much looking forward to this!
