Suggestions? Yeah, don't go to Calgary. You should totally drive to Vancouver and we can do am impromptu Slap and Tickle. Then you can drive back to Winnipeg having crossed half of the country.

Hey, I'm in Calgary! Also, the Deerfoot isn't a major challenge. The Stampede is annoying, though.

What is it with everyone west of Lloydminster unable to remember which Prairie city is which?

Calgary during the Stampede is nucking futs.
My first time on an airplane was from Calgary to Saskatoon, this is what I remember:
"This is the Captain speaking, we are now levelling off at our cruising altitude"
5 minutes later...
"We are now descending into Saskatoon..."
Awesome flight, it took longer for me to drive to the airport than to fly to Saskatoon.

Right.. Route... I'll post it when I get back.. All I remember off hand is leaving Calgary through the North, then to Drumheller, Gas up at Hanna, Food at Oyen, then to hiigara, our home.

Lived in Calgary for about 16 years now, love it, but tough to live in this city (bloody expensive). Anyways, the TransCanada Highway takes you straight into Calgary, so that's the best option. Plus for the most part, the road is unbelievably straight and you can easily top your car out along there before you get into Alberta.

Do you know the address of where you are picking up the car?

As for food, best nacho place is called The Unicorn, which is underneath Banker's Hall along Steven Ave (8th Ave S). People rave about Peter's Drive-In, but they haven't been as good lately. I'd also suggest Santa Fe Grill & Jack Astor's for good dining.

And another thing about the Stampeded - it has the highest infidelity rate of any event in Canada. Them girls...those jeans...aaaahhhh
Err yeah, so depending on your situation, either jump in or stay away.

Trans-canada don't go through toon town.
I have to take highway 9 unless I want to do a major detour.

I think it's on Lake Fraser Dr SE.

I've never done Calgary-Saskatoon by road; the prospect fills me with trepidation. I mean, that route probably doesn't even take you through any of the towns mentioned in "Running Back to Saskatoon"; what good could come of that?

Someone at work suggested that I head north all the way to Edmonton and then tear ass all the way back down the yellowhead.

That'd be easiest, extra time be damned. You could eat at Le Charles Mansion, if it's still around.

Or go the Regina route. Best pizza, honest.

I usually take highway 12 east at Lacombe from highway 2, across to Kerrobert, then Biggar, then to Saskatoon. But there is alot of construction on that route right now, so I do not recommend it. I think the previous suggestion of Calgary to Edmonton on Hwy 2, to Saskatoon on the Yellowhead is a good option. Great pavement to test out the new car on too!

I would take the Number 9 that's what I did

I was in Calgary beginning of July and took the number 9 both times going there and coming home, it was fine

I can't imagine Calgary during the Stampede though but when I was there I quite enjoyed driving in Calgary, it's easy but hey it's all good

That's good though it needs to get some breaking in They are nice cars, I tested drove an 2007 and it was a thing of beauty but It wasn't what I was looking for.

I can see why you would want one though,

Take a quick stop to go boating in the North Sask. river. It's a great game to play: How long until the bottom of your boat melts.

My days of not taking you seriously have certainly come to a middle.

Your defence is accepted. Distinguishing Death Trips on the northern plains is a tricky feat.

A friend once saw this badge at a sci-fi convention: "Life is like a highway on the Prairies--not much to see along the way, and Regina at the end of it."

Figured they were. Years ago I went on a road trip to Saskatchewan with my parents and once we got past the Rocky Mountains we barely saw any cars.
