What are you hoping/predicting to see at E3?
Thursday, July 5th, 2007 - 6:43pm
Looks like this E3 will have just as many big announcements as last year - I just don't envy journalists who have to travel all over town to make their appointments. 1Up Yours had a great round of E3 predictions on their latest podcast, I suggest checking it out. Anyway...
- I hearing that Mass Effect might slip to next year ![]()
- MGS4 trailer!
- What is Microsoft releasing on the 360 in 2008?
- What is id's newest game?
- Will we see God of War 3?
- Will we see Gears of War 2? (almost definitely not)

Diablo III? Am I hoping too big for at least confirmation that it's under way?

oops, almost forgot- I'd love to see a Star Wars: Republic Commando 2.. without all of that "go get some Bacta", "I need Bacta", "go feed on Bacta", "get some fast actin' Bacta for that athlete's foot, Commando!"

Oooo, didn't think of those. I'll add those to my list as well. Actually, bump them to the top of my list.

I have got to believe that a game like Mass Effect that incorporates non-linear aspects into the play is a nightmare to trouble shoot on a console. If it were a PC only game, I figure they'd take the Neverwinter Nights' approach and release it and then release patch after patch to fix all the bugs. You do not have that luxury on the 360. This is one of my biggest concerns with the consoles becoming a primary "pc style" RPG platform. Weren't there bugs in some of the KotOR's that just existed forever, and you had to avoid them to avoid game stopping errors?
The thing I wish for the most is surprising content on the Wii. Not more of the same crap we've been seeing announced lately.
Ditto. Minus Viva Pinata and a few sports games my 360 is basically an Uno, Backgammon, Catan, Carcassonne playing machine. And I couldn't be happier. More variety on the arcade and I'll be happy. More games like Viva Pinata would be nice. And a firm date on Beautiful Katamari would rock.

Hopefully, some sort of evidence of continued relevance.

I'm predicting a PS3 price drop announcement!
Besides that, I'm predicting at least one good Sony game announcement that puts something on everyone's radar that isn't already there. And some more footage of SOCOM being classic no-nonsense SOCOM.

Make that two. Oh man...BG&E2 would be a true nexus for me.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Mass Effect and definitely Too Human ship into next year but if it means they come out more polished, they can take as much time as they want. I've got a mile high pile of shame right now anyway.
I think if a PS3 price cut is coming, it's going to be announced here too.

Lots of people were thinking the "PSP lite" details (if they exist) might be announced here as well.
So, I guess I'm confused-- I thought E3 was all shredded and pared down from the last few years... what, exactly, is going to be different about the show this year? Seems like all the same excessive hype as every year so far...

I predict that a lot of these predictions won't come true and this E3 won't have a tenth of the stuff that past E3s have had. Face it, it's all in the individual events held by publishers now; the days of the big unified conventions are rapidly dwindling.

Yeah, I'm interested in how this E3 turns out too. It may be full of cool news, or it may be just a media circle jerk and we'll forget about E3 next year.
I predict nothing, because the only winning move is not to play.

What's different this year? E3 in July instead of May!
PSP redesign would make sense. Obviously the PS3 price drop and 360 extended warranty will create some positive buzz coming in.
Nintendo announces "Wii Sports 2: Wiixtreme!" A ton of DS games get announced.
One writer drops their iphone in a toilet and liveblogs about it.
I'd expect a Fallout 3 video of some sort as well, and lots of info on the highly anticipated games of this fall and holiday season.
MMOs: Lots more info on Age of Conan and Warhammer Online. More details on Guild Wars 2 and GW:EN expansion.
As for anything not yet listed, I hope to see more info on Left 4 Dead.
I'd expect to have a lot of content this year as the PR and marketing people at most companies will still be on some kind of an E3 rhythm/schedule. The fact that it's delayed a month doesn't mean much - most presentations were probably rushed and on crazy deadlines just to make it in May, I'm sure they used that extra time without a second though. Reduced coverage, sure, to some extent, but I'd still expect a blitz. The industry and consumer attention will still be focused there, wondering how it's going to turn out this year in a new format, and the rewards will still be great for the standouts/best of the show.

A star control 4 would blow my mind. I was going to say a new Soul Calibur, but I saw an EGM article about SC 4 coming to 360 and ps3.
I was going to come in with high hopes and talk about how great a mass effect release date would be, but this thread shot that down pretty much immediately.
Big fat line up lists showing up on Joystiq & Kotaku seem to suggest otherwise. So does the fact that the leaked $100 PS3 price drop appears to be an intended E3 announcement. Maybe it's just inertia, but E3 still looks like an event that gets targeted for news. It just won't be filled with a million mouth-breathers choking the event floor anymore.

What I am reasonably sure of is that the major console makers will be talking up their upcoming fall and holiday lineups. MS and Sony have already started bragging about how big their offerings will be.
Oh, and the PS3 price drop.

Star Control 4 would be amazing as long as it's a lot more like the second one. Thr third one was horrendous by comparison. I don't even know who owns that IP now. I know SC2 was open-sourced so I imaging it's still Toys for Bob and therefore Activision.

I am curious to see how close the Killzone 2 in-game graphics compare to the smoke-n-mirrors Sony demo'd 2 years ago.
I bet Sony will announce an official controller with rumble.
I predict Peter Moore will deftly turn the reliability/extended warranty questions into positives with masterful spin.
I'd like to see Halo 3 and Halo Wars footage. A bit of Fable 2 too.
