Happy Independence Day!
Wednesday, July 4th, 2007 - 5:01pm
I just came from a barbecue and will be starting up my own shortly. I hope everyone else who celebrates the holiday has as happy and safe a day as mine is turning out to be.
All this science I don't understand. It's just my job five days a week.

We've already celebrated it twice. Once monday night with real fireworks... and again last night with improvised fireworks of our own design.
I believe tonight we're back to real fireworks again which is kind of disappointing.
Enjoy the barbecue and the explosives.

Weird, my birthday is Canada Day. It's like we're each born on the wrong side, brother.

Just shot off a few rockets from the garden, and the smoke from the one fountain is drifting out over the field across the road.
Take that Brits! Right in your own backyards!
On a related note, its surprisingly easy to find decent fireworks in the middle of July in Britain. Considering Guy Fawkes is not until November.

No barbeque this year... So, I'll be making Chicken Parm and we're going to see the fireworks at the San Diego Bay!

Mmm, chicken parm.
Right now I'm eating a giant half-pound burger with provolone, bacon, and BBQ sauce. AMERICA! F*CK YEAH!

Nah, that sounds about right for the 4th. Too bad you don't have the wife to celebrate with, neither do I though, they made my wife work tonight even though she always has Wednesdays off, sonsuvbeetches. This is the ONLY day we have off together so I am slightly pissed off.

If you've never heard it read with conviction, you are missing out on one of the most powerful documents in the english language. I cried like a baby.

Took a pretty lengthy (for me) hike of about 12 miles in the blazing Tucson sun today. Top temperature was around 110F. Nearly passed out from heat exhaustion and dehydration as I ran out of water about half way back to civilization. Have some pretty nice pictures from it though, maybe I'll even manage to get a few posted
Oh, Happy Independence Day as well.

Managed to hit up the Transformers movie, smoke three stogies, and still was able to barbecue burgers and cook some Farmer's Market fresh corn. That's what I call a holiday.

Well, my parents, my aunt, and my sister went to see Die Hard 4. I, on the other hand, stayed home to watch a marathon of Mythbusters. Other than that and a quick dip in the pool, it's been pretty much a non-event. I just don't see much point to rampant celebration.

I've always enjoyed this inscription on the Jefferson Memorial. It seems only fitting for your living among the English:
"I am not an advocate for frequent changes in laws and constitutions, but laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths discovered and manners and opinions change, with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also to keep pace with the times. We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy as civilized society to remain ever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors."

So how were the fireworks this year? Anything interesting?
I saw a cube. Not sure if that's new or not but it's the first time I've ever seen it. You can see it here at 4:02, 4:37, 5:10 and 5:28.
