Just got back from the theaters and have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the returning installment in the Die Hard series.

Putting aside the technical liberties taken, and some minor holes in the story, it was a great action flick. Honestly, there were points where it almost felt as though they were spoofing the action genre. Lots of great moments that at the whole theater laughing out load, or doing the "oh, damn! That-had-to-hurt" groan.

The film doesn't feel toned down at all for the PG-13 rating. Plenty of guns, violence, explosions, language, etc.

If you're a fan of the Die Hard flicks, I'd say it's worth a watch.

Just got back from the theater. Really enjoyed it. Highly recommended if you're a fan of the series. The rating did nothing for the violence in the movie, but there were a few (very few) scenes where they dubbed sh*ts over F bombs (I read today that this will be removed/corrected for the DVD release).

While a fan of movie violence, I am still flabbergasted that in a movie filled with violence, a couple of f-bombs are what spell the difference between PG-13 and R.

That said, there's a good chance I'll see this in the theater.

Violence is wholesome. Nudity and swearing is not. Didn't you get the memo?

The previews for this one just look really over the top. Did you guys get that from the movie? I always liked Die Hard because of the whole "regular Joe cop gets out of crazy but ground in reality situation" but then in the previews they have him flying jets and blowing up helicopters with cars doing other crazy stuff.

This doesn't come out over here until next week I think, I'll definitely be checking it out though, for nostalgias sake if nothing else! Same reason I'll be going to see the new Indy film out next year.

Saw it. Goodness goodness. Perfect summer popcorn flick, does what the Die Hard series does well.

As an aside, the trailers for War and Hitman made those movies look so incredibly, unbelievably dumb.

without divulging to much this one is by far the most over the top of them all. With that said its still a great action flick and worth the price for the big screen effect.

one thing that gets you wondering after though is why not sooner? I kinda feel deprived that this wasn't the 6th or something. 12 years is excessive!

You can't make violence not wholesome. If you did that it would be wrong for evangelical Christians to support the War on Terror and attempt to battle their sworn enemies of Islam. However there is no reason you should be watching naked breasts or swear in excess cuz that's sinning.

Fracking idiots (I'm speaking about the religious right BTW)

BTW as a Die Hard fan of the Die Hard Trilogy I will no doubt be watching this soon enough.

Watched it yesterday. Awesome fun. The F-35 scene was a bit ridiculous, but otherwise pretty darn flawless entertainment experience.

When the very first teaser for Die Hard 4 popped up, it didn't really do anything for me. Unlike the final movie, which was an enjoyable ride. The first shoot-out in the appartment was already more interesting than most firefights in the previous two movies. And the sidekick wasn't as annoying as I expected him to be. The truck scene was totally over the top, but worked for me nevertheless.

I saw this yesterday and words cannot describe how awesome it is. Excitement from beginning to end.

My version of the movie also edited out all the f-bombs and replaced them with sh*t. I noticed lip movements not matching with spoken words because of this but only twice. Not a big deal. Still, I have a hard time believing that movie was P-13.

Need to chime in since I saw this last night. There are a few very UNFREAKINGBELIEVABLE moments in the movie but compared to the other three movies I would say this ranks right below the third one for "NO WAY THAT EVER HAPPENS" scenes. I only thought the jumping the car into the helicopter scene was entirely retarded. Well that and the inordinate amount of people getting hit by fast moving cars and still being not dead afterwards.

The movie as a whole is probably tied for best in the series with the third one for me. I ranked them 3rd-1st-2nd before this one. I really dug the whole sidekick aspect of the third one which was why I liked it better than the first. Obviously, this installment continues the sidekick treatment and that "I'm a Mac" kid was perfect for the role.

Transformers is going to have to be one amazing experience for it to top this film for summer box-office honors. I couldn't recommend this movie more and if you are a fan of the Die Hard series, then it is a total no-brainer to see this in the theater. I absolutely loved it.

Not exactly sure what to tell you then. What exactly did you hate about the third one? That might make it easier to determine if this installment has too much of what you didn't like about the third one. This one has them travelling around to different places like the third one. So if you loved the claustrophobic nature of the first movie then this doesn't have that going for it.

Saw this yesterday and I really enjoyed it as well.
There are a handful of really implausible scenarios but I just like Die Hard and Bruce Willis. They get a few free passes from me, and they didn't use them up during this movie.

I don't go to the theater too often anymore but I thought this would be worth it - and it was.

I'm planning on seeing it with the caveat that it's not a real Die Hard movie but still ends up being a good Bruce Willis action flick. (Note: Die Hard 3 was also not a real Die Hard movie.) I'm betting that, as a Bruce Willis action flick, it does real well.

The villain, the setting, and the sidekick.

I'll never argue that Die Hard 2 was very good. It was just ok. I still like it better than the third one because it feels more like Die Hard to me.

Clarify for me a bit. You don't consider Die Hard 3 a real Die Hard movie just like I don't, but do you enjoy it anyway?

Trying to figure out if I should base my decision to see the movie or not on whether or not you end up enjoying it. I almost saw it a few days ago with some friends but we got caught in traffic and missed the only showing we could really make it to. Normally that would have been a disappointing situation but really I was kind of liking that I had an extra seven bucks in my wallet the next day.

This was pretty terrible. Perhaps if it was some generic action movie and not Die Hard I'd be a bit more favorable, but overall this is the worst in the series by a wide freaking margin.

This was one of many, many moments in the film that made me laugh very, very hard.

Die Hard 4 is a great action movie spoof. Could've used a little more slapstick, though. I really liked how the bad guys went to all that trouble getting disguised to break into the power facility and then proceeded to blow their cover in 5 seconds flat.

Oh come on, no one took that bit seriously, least of all the villain.

Saw it tonight, it was entertaining. I didn't really say "Die Hard" to me. Definitely some WTF moments, such as

Also, the spider monkey henchman annoyed me. I was expecting that fight to last longer and was pleasantly surprised it didn't.

Not bad, but it was a good action movie rather than a good Die Hard one. Too much action outdoors, not enough being pursued indoors.
