RTT: World in Conflict

I have been looking at this game for quite some time now. It's listed as a RTS technically but I call it a RTT (Real Time Tactical) because it is much much faster than a RTS game. It's even faster than a flamed engineer rush in CoH.
I recently got into the Closed Beta for the game and I am having a blast with it. It will change your view of these types of games. Very fast, very exciting and beautiful graphics. Oh and dual monitor, multi core CPU support.
Believe me I wish I had dual monitors right now for this game. I definitely need the extra monitor for a large tactical overview map.
Anyone else get in this?

Am I the only one who thinks this will be a very successful game in the new modern RTS genre?

Their last two attempts at RTT games did absolutely nothing for me, so my interest in this is pretty minimal.
My days of not taking you seriously have certainly come to a middle.

I am in on it as well. I have enjoyed the games that these guys have made in the past and I have high hopes for this one as well. If they can pull off their "vision" it will be a winner.

Even faster RTS gameplay? I like the long winded battles more then the fast stuff nowadays. It gets too much of a click frenzy with too little room to fix some small mistakes. I will check this game out tho, maybe they found a way to make it more attractive for me.
I don't watch, I interact!
Honestly if your idea of what you really enjoy in an RTS is the build up of buildings, collecting resources. following tech trees and building troops before attacking, then you will really dislike this game.
If you enjoy the tactical simulation, quick military thinking and outsmarting or out microing your opponent then this game will be the altar from which you worship.
Slow paced vs Fast paced. Strategic vs Tactical. Hence why I call it an RTT and not a RTS.

The problem with most RTS/T games is that they don't do the Tactical very well. Too bound to the Strategic mindset, and the 'tactics' are minimal. Usually involves throwing the most forces at an opponent in the shortest amount of time.
In my mind, that is a corollary to how 'strategic' the game tries to be. If more games focused on doing one thing well, then I think we'd be better off.
Relic's done the best job from the tactics side (CoH, DoW) in correcting that, I think, but there's plenty of room for improvement. To me, cIV is a good example of a pure strategy game that doesn't make aspirations to tactics.

Neat little extras. Kind of cool that the History channel is actually doing something with this game.
Also another trailer just came out with gameplay that has some nice Tears for Fears music:

And here is a fan based trailer that someone pieced together. Also cool.

So far the beta is very satisfying. I am enjoying this game immensely.

I'm pretty much here with Haakon. The problem I've had with CoH is that it seems very "Rock/Paper/Scissors" tactically. If they do an infantry rush, you have to do this, if they release an M-10 or Puma eary, you must do this. Bleh. This is absolutely nothing like true strategic or tactical situations.
I realize that you're manipulating gameplay on a computer screen and doing a lot of clicking (especially with that Puma in the aforementioned 'tactic' as you maneuver it around the AT gun) but there's simply little beyond that going on. I did enjoy, however (and occassionally still do) ASL games on the board with my friends, which really does play heavily into strategically designing a plan and tactically moving within it.

The MP portion was ok... If this game comes with a decent manual and tutorial it has a great deal of promise. I did enjoy the time I played, but you definitely get the rock, paper, scissors aspect of it. The graphics are beautiful at this point. A well coordinated group of players on MP would be better then the just jump in and play with folks you dont know. The games seemed a little frenetic to be considered truly tactical or strategic at least when I played.

Hear, hear on the MP with friends. This way, you know where they live.
I still remember an old Age of Empires game where I and three of my buddies got rolled by some Korean dude -- and I was a pretty good AoE player myself, back in the day.
Funniest thing that ever happened. Should've known better than when the guy said, "You guys go ahead and play on the same team, I need a challenge."

If anyone's interested in hooking up to try this out, let me know. I got into the beta as well but I suspect I'll get rolled over by the general public.

I'm a Ground Control fan so its on my list to look at. Problem is my bout with RTS/RTT is about done. I'm ready for a new tactical shooter.

This is the first RTS/RTT game that has given me the same rush that I get from a decent FPS game.
And that's saying a lot. Open Beta starts soon cuz closed beta ends this mid month.

Seems like a great fit for a console. The fast paced drop in and out multiplayer, the smaller scale battles in terms of unit count and the lack of build orders would make this a nice fit for a gamepad.

The Closed Beta is now over. The NDA has been lifted. If anyone has any questions for me about the game I will be happy to answer them to the best of my knowledge and experience with the game.
Open Beta will start in July and those who pre-order will be guaranteed a spot and key. I assume that additional keys will be given out in the normal ways through download sites, etc.
The Demo will be released in August and the game released in September for those not wanting to play the Beta.

September? I thought this was due out sooner than that. Phooey.
The game just got lost in "Releasing alongside the new Company of Hereoes expansion" land.
I'll probably buy it anyway cause I'm a sucker for this kind of game.. and then it'll sit on the shelf still in the plastic seal because I'm busy playing Company of Heroes.

So the open MP beta for this game started and I'm in.
Anyone else going to be trying it out? It'd be great to get some GWJ only games in on this.
*edit*
Kilroy, were the graphics in the closed beta really really bad? The effects are beautiful and there's lots of great detail... but even at 1920x1080 it looks like the game's still running in 1280x720 and getting upscaled or something with no AA, even though I have everthing cranked up. I'm reminded of games that used voxel based engines. It's really, really weird. The game looks nothing like the videos I've seen so far. Is this just reduced graphics for the sake of saving download size?

My beta stutters really bad and my machine is more than capable at running it at the settings I am using. Kinda stinks.
I like the idea of the game and some of the effects (calling in carpet bombs comes to mind) are incredible.

I actually discovered my issue might be one where the game requires a restart to change certain video settings but doesn't actually tell you that it won't apply them without a restart.
One of those beta things I guess.
That's assuming I'm right. Won't be able to find out for another 7 hours

I created a Gamers with Jobs clan. I'll invite everyone here (though it looks like lordk there already has his own and is far more experienced at the game than some of us
) which should make things even easier.
