Terminator 4/The Sarah Connor Chronicles

New Terminator trilogy planned (link), as well as a TV series set between T1 and T2 (link).

Anyone heard about this? I kinda figured there's be at least one more movie, but three? And a TV series? And no James Cameron in sight. Does not bode well.

But then, no Eddie Furlong in sight either. At least there's that.

Yeah this reminds me of that.

I'd actually like some Terminator stuff that fleshed out some of the history that T1 didn't touch on. There was a pretty major gap between T1 and T2, and I think it _could_ be pretty interesting.

Then again, I was a kid when I first watched T1, and only 10 when I saw T2, so it's pretty nostalgic to me. Curse you, rose colored glasses.

Both still stand the test of time, especially the first one. It's a classic, in my humble opinion.

Another movie? Hell, T3 wasn't needed and wasn't all that good. And like dhelor said: no James Cameron? Forget it. As for the TV show though: Lena Heady as Sarah Connor? That might work. And Zoic studios (of Firefly and BSG fame) doing the visual effects? That could be interesting. Summer Glau as some type of Terminator model? Ok, now you have my attention. Now all that's needed is some quality writing.

I can see a new Terminator Series doing well if it were done by a good director and producer. But since it's being done by the same ones who did T3 it's going to suck ballz. Idiots made the 3rd one and idiots will make the new series. So I really have no hope for it being good. Though they might grow a brain and surprise me.

The only new Terminator story I'd be interested in at this point, whether it be a movie or a TV series, would be one based in the future during the human/machine war. Start it off with Skynet going sentient and tell that side of the story. Basically, flesh out what they showed in the flashbacks in T1.

-edit-
I suppose I should read the articles before making comments as this seems to be exactly what T4 is planned to be. I'm a little excited over the idea, though as mentioned because of certain people not being involved and the others who are, I just hope it doesn't suck.

When Bruce Banner gets angry, he turns into the Hulk. When the Hulk gets angry, he turns into Mr. T.

Why would anyone be interested in what happens between T1 and T2? All that happens is that Sarah Connor becomes a paranoid militia member/survivalist. There's nothing sci-fi going on. I'm predicting something like Kung Fu: The Legend Continues, only lower quality and starring a psycho with no sense of humor.

Now if they wanted to give us a show that takes place after Judgment Day and chronicles the war against the machines...I am there. In fact, that's the movie I want to see. Give me mankind being hunted, and cool sci-fi setting.

EDIT: I guess Vega is my evil twin brother. And I, too, didn't read the links.

This all feels SO Planet of the Apes, right down to the sequence of chronology tackled (generally speaking) and the inevitable decline in quality.

I wouldn't mind some of the dark horse comics coming to form in some episodes but having a ton of terminators time travel will get old quick.

There was an old terminator comic series (before Dark Horse got the rights) that told the story of John Connor and how he defeated Skynet.

So in other words, continue right where Terminator 3 left off?

Ugh, why does every Terminator movie, now TV series have a good Terminator and bad Terminator. How many times are we gonna be hearing "Im here to protect you" "Come with me if you want to live". Terminator 1 was cool because it was Biehn vs. Machine, Terminator 2 was cool because it had more Arnold (and the good vs bad terminator wasn't beaten to death). T3 was good only because of the ending.

This series looks so stupid, it might have been neat if it was just about Sarah + her Mexican friends trying to fight off a Terminator together.

You know that the kid is a lot older than what the kid was in T2 in the TV series than the movie. So they already have things messed up then. He's closer to age of him in T3. Whatever the kid's name is. Col. Connor.

Yeah, the ending answered a huge question that I'd had since the end of T2. How would a civilian, on the run at that, get to be in charge of the human resistance? How could he find and recruit the survivors of Judgement Day? Where are the resources to fuel that kind of effort?

Maybe that's why I enjoyed T3 becuase it answered so many questions, who knows but by far T2 was the best of the three.

The only real bonus to T3 was that it ended the way I wanted it to end.

Now they just need to get on that future war movie. I've wanted one of those ever since I saw the original Terminator.

Ok, after watching the episode for the second time I came to conclusion that I've been too hard on it. The fact that I really wanted to see it again is what tipped me off to the inaccuracy of my initial judgement. The emotional impact is definitely there, and it does capture the soul of Terminator (2, mostly), even if it doesn't adhere to multitude of technical details.

Overall... I can't expect a TV show to do better... in fact I expected a lot worse... so thumbs up.
