Gish Sales ;_;

Yeah, it seems they made a profit - but 4521 downloads/sales? Christ, that's somewhat depressing. That game certainly got a bit more coverage than your average indie game. Not like I expected it to be a million seller - sure as hell not - but, geez.
This fact gets four out of five sad Klinks.

It was quite nastily copy-protected. I'm sure that was related. I stopped buying any more Chroniclogic games after finding out, too late, that they had copy protection on it, and advised other people not to buy it either.
Still, those figures equate to an approximate NET profit of 115,300 USD (not including wages, rent, equipment, supplies, etc.) which isn't to be sniffed at.
Can't help wondering, though, if the price point hadn't been lower, and it didn't have some very disagreeable copy protection bundled with it, if they wouldn't have sold an awful lot more copies. Seems to me that the general perception might be that $20 is a lot for what is essentially (in terms of aesthetics alone) a very old school platformer.
I played the demo and liked it, but wouldn't have paid more than $10 for a downloadable copy of the game. $20 for a boxed copy? Sure, but that was an additional $6 premium on top of the $19.95 asking price for the downloadable version.

Yes it is possible that they would have sold more copies if the game was 10 bucks, but in the end this is only guessing and even if we had site statistics, the guess would be a bit more proficient, but that's about it.
The problem is, that the market for this game was very narrow to begin with. That's why I can't blame them for avoiding the risk and charging 20 bucks for it. Releasing their numbers, will allows other independent developers to determine an appropriate pricing model for their game, kudos to them for doing it.
Still, 4500 copies sold is a damn shame for this great a game. Seems that, as an indie developer you should try very hard to get on XBLA/PSN/VC because the overall sales statistics are a lot more pleasant there. Alternatively pitch for a retail publisher, because after looking at other games that sold exclusively over the net, retail remains king, sad as it is.
No hay banda!
When I heard about Eets coming to the 360, I mistook it for Gish. Occasionally I do think about it. I hope they push for an Xbox LIVE release; I'd likely buy it

What copy protection are you talking about? In the download version?
I have no idea what the hell Gish is. Is it really good?

Gish is fantastic. I don't remember any copy protection, but I'd recommend it to anyone.
Damnit, I'm gonna have to install it again.

He's a f*cking ball of tar?
Well, that's not very charismatic as a hero...
I don't know, if Spunior hadn't recommended it I wouldn't even look twice. Looks like a Flash platformer or something. Is it really worth 20 bucks?

That's kind of funny.
HAHA!
Yeah, he's a ball of tar, Mex. But he's the toughest ball of tar in town. No one f*cks with the Gish.
It really is worth $20. The physics of moving Gish around and making him jump feels really great. It's a great platformer.

Ha ha, I have a short, short attention span ^_^
