Something to check out for PS3 owners and Ninja Gaiden fans!

NINJA GAIDEN® SIGMA DEMO NOW AVAILBLE

The action-packed, definitive ninja game can now be downloaded from the PlayStation® Network

TORRANCE, Calif. April 26, 2007"” Tecmo® announced today that the release of the highly anticipated Ninja Gaiden Sigma playable demo is available now on the PLAYSTATION® Network. Take control of Master Ninja Ryu Hayabusa as he slices his way through enemy ninjas with dual-katana blades, blasts away evil fiends using ninpo magic, and overcomes insurmountable obstacles with the use of wall-jumping, ninja techniques.

"The Ninja Gaiden Sigma demo is a great way for PLAYSTATION®3 owners to get a sneak peek at the Team NINJA masterpiece," said Yoh Watanabe, Tecmo's Marketing Manager. "For the first time ever, Ninja Gaiden will be playable exclusively on a PlayStation platform and we're amazed at how incredible Sigma looks and feels. This is the must-have demo for the must-have game."

The demo will feature 1080p ninja action at 60fps, new weapons, new combos and secret unlockable ninja content. The Ninja Gaiden Sigma demo is now available only on the PLAYSTATION Network!

Given that it's mostly a port of an old Xbox game... of which I own both Original and Black. However, they did mention that there will be more stuff in this release... like weapon, nippo, etc... so it might worth checking out.

This is the only game I'd get a PS3 for at this point, and I've already played it a zillion times on the Xbox then the 360. It's *almost* worth selling body parts for... Almost.

It looks nice, but I'm not sure it looks "Next Gen" enough to justify such a price.

If by that you include the PS3 hardware, then yes. But the game itself? If I had a PS3 I'd be all over this one.

For whatever reason I never got around to playing Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox. Tried out the PS3 demo last night and really liked what I saw. The game is gorgeous although I still really dislike Team Ninja's character models... can't stand the plasticy look. Other than that it certainly seemed fun.

My daughter found the pre-order box for this on the shelf at the gamestore last night, and now she wants a PS3. If I don't buy one between now and when she's 17, she's going to go in with me and do it just for this game.

Well done, my padawan. Well done.

Let me know when she's 17 and I'll...

So is 17 when the kids start to help feed the gaming habit? Have their own jobs and buy games themselves that you can then play?

No, 17 is when she's old enough to play this game and Metal Gear Solid 4.

The girls have had their own jobs for over a year, but they spend most of their money on anime disks.

And Stylz, I'll let her know.

The demo looks and plays very nice. I'm tempted to pick it up but seeing as I didn't finish the x-box version I have a little trouble justifying the $60 for prettier graphics and an improved interface.

Finally got to try the demo...

The game is pretty much a port of Ninja Gaiden Black. In terms of cut-scenes and some of the difficulty- enemy scalability... like if you go for hard or higher, you will see enemies that would normally appear later on in the game (ref.: Black Spider Ninjas in Chapter 1).

The demo level is the Ninja Fortress, the same as always. However the level design, although mostly the same but with few little tweaks. Like for example... right at the start of the game, instead of waterfall now is just a cliff with a small path that leads to a chest. Another one would be, the rocky path that leads to the fortress got a little bit tighter than before... --but like I said nothing major, just minor tweaks... I'd like to see the rest of the game though.

Enemy positioning also got few tweaks. Like before, the very first encounter with other ninja was once you get to the elevated area... now you get attacked by 2 ninjas right away, as soon the game starts. Few other slight changes are in the fortress, like the area where a Samurai armor... instead of 2 ninjas now 4. Plus now they will re-spawn when you exchange Fangs for the Key. Also to note is that the room past Samurai armor... there are now 2 chests and enemies don't drop from the ceiling. Now they enter the room once you cut the paper that grants you entry to the next room.

Item placement... you no longer get Talisman of Rebirth. At least not in the demo.

Combat it self is pretty much the same, tight, fast and brutal. AI, seems slightly beefed up but I have not played old ninja gaiden for some time so I could be just imagining things. Few things that kind of trouble me regarding the controls... one is, few times my character become unresponsive for few sec. It's not a big deal but that is enough time to get killed... especially when playing on Very Hard.
...and two, pointless implementation of motion sensing feature. When using Nippo... shake the controller to make the attack even stronger. Yay! Although I could not get to use nippo, I forgot how to activate it...

Speaking of difficulty, Murai on Hard is now easier to beat... when fighting him on hard, 2 white ninjas will attack you at same time.

Now, UI. The interface has been changed to display everything in one screen... no more tab views. One new addition to the game is that they have quick access menu... using a D-pad now during combat or just in the game you can cycle between and use 4 different items like potions, etc... helps to keep action going, since you don't need to go to the inventory screen.

Sound... same.

Graphics, are a mix of new and updated. Some textures, look old but look better in higher resolution... some textures are new, considering the level has more of a fall season look. One thing I notice is that some areas of the level got a lot darker than before... nothing game-play hindering but different none the less.

btw, the demo has new weapon to play with... duel katanas. They are nice, but I still prefer Dragon Sword.

Last, they open a quick mission option once you beat the demo... one level to try out Rachel.

Over all, I liked it... for $50, is it worth it? May be, but I'll be picking it up since like Mr.G put it... I'm an addict.

I played through the demo to the boss twice and couldn't beat him. Kind of frustrating that they don't let you save at all. The game looks nice but if you had your fill of Ninja Gaiden on Xbox I don't see any reason to replay it just for the better visuals. That said I never finished it on the Xbox so I may be tempted to grab it used from gamefly for $30 or so.

Great game but I won't touch it again until they fix the camera controls. It's pretty much unplayable for me...

Lag used to be a lot worse back in the day. Hell, it took Jesus 3 days to respawn.

So I played this a little more beating the demo on regular and hard modes as well as going through Rachel's mission. I had forgotten how good Ninja Gaiden was, I don't think i'll be able to resist grabbing this when it comes out. Oh and the ninjas they throw at you in the third difficulty mode are tough.

Yes, yes they are. There's a beautiful jiggle bit somewhere in the game, although I haven't played through it in a while.
