The audio quality makes it sound like you're pretty much all in the same room. Amazing. If some post-factum ambient sound effects were added, like someone moving in their chair, or pouring wine, possibly a crackling fireplace, the illusion would be complete. Especially combined with quips like "get your hand off my knee".

On IP TV: I was so excited for this when I heard about it last year on the OXM podcast. With all the partners they have on the XBOX Video Marketplace it may not be "real" TV, but a subscription to a channel or a movie production house? I'd eat that up in a heartbeat. I truly believe that digital download will leapfrog BlueRay in two or three years tops. I have a laptop that will work as a DVR but I just don't want the hassle of setting it up. (And it's standard RCA jacks, not component.) Please, XBOX make my lazy heart happy and become a cable box. Then there'll be more friends on my friends list, more people to chainsaw at all hours of the day, more community... Joy.

Half a million DS units!? The Pokeffect in action. Gotta buy 'em all! We had a line of over a hundred people in front of our game store at 10am Sunday morning.
The Elite isn't much point for me now, either. I'll wait until I have to replace my current unit. I am definately looking at a thumbpad or keyboard, though.

The story for me was that he was on Hardcore before the blood dried spouting garbage. But he did that before. He is threatening to sue the police in the town where Romida lived in because they couldn't find the games he swore had to be there.

Sony does use downloadable content for the PSP to distribute more than firmware. Granted, all of it installs from a PC, but is additional game content:
1. The multiple add-on map packs and other extras for the wildly successful Wipeout Pure.
2. The upcoming free patch for Killzone Liberation which will add online play. It's apparently finished its beta testing and was quite fun to play.
3. Mega Man Powered Up lets you edit and exchange levels via an online service.
4. Field Commander includes a mission editor and lets you exchange them online.
You're all smart guys, so I think it's probably time for one of you to start paying attention to the PSP. It's not the failure you guys assume it is. You've been reduced to playing ancient PC games between big hits for the Xbox 360 for crying out loud.

Hey now, don't forget the Wii and the DS! We just finished talking about Super Paper Mario and Puzzle Quest, for example. Until the PSP gets better battery life and drops in price more, I won't be paying for a premium portable device I won't likely play all that often.

For once, my email actually triggered a conversation about the topic I was trying to bring up. As a whole, when I look at what games I can expect to come out for the Wii in the forseeable future, I am not seeing that many interesting games. On the PC, I can expect Bioshock, Spore, quite a few interesting MMOs and Assassins Creed and yet on the Wii, contrary to my expectations, I am seeing formfit after formfit. Is the industry really seeing making a good, solid, deep game for the Wii as that much of a gamble? is the fact that it has got an unusual market demography making publishers unsure of how well an Action-RPG for the Wii would sell?
I have very little doubt when it comes to whether or not a God of War-esque action-RPG or a condemned-like, for lack of a better example, investigator game would do quite well, if only developers manage to wrap their heads around the fact that the Wiimote is the key to making a good game for the Wii.
I got a little annoyed with the original battery, so I bought the official extended life battery for the machine and it's really been a big upgrade in play time. Why Sony doesn't ship the extended life battery with the PSP is a mystery to me. It's probably something very few PSP owners know you can buy.
If you're finding plenty to play on systems you own now then I'll be the last to tell someone to go buy another one.
The PSP is a very good fit for me. I won't go into why here, but if I could trade it for a DS I wouldn't, it's just a better fit for me.
I'm just looking for someone to be able to answer questions about the PSP on the podcast, or admit they don't know and will look it up for the show notes. Otherwise folks like me who consider your opinions interesting and important who might be on the fence about getting or keeping a PSP could get the wrong impression about a system that could be a good fit for them.

The New PSP Owners thread has been hovering in the first page of Games and Platforms for a few weeks. I just picked up a PSP myself and there is a small group here who has them, even if it's not represented on the podcast.
I just picked up a PSP myself last night, $170 with a $30 MIR, LocoRoco for $30 with a $20 MIR, and Wipeout Pure + Hot Shots Golf at $10 each. All told that's $231 before $50 in rebates, after tax. I plan to play those games and enjoy them while waiting for the updated Final Fantasy Tactics and Disgaea PSP. In the meantime I'm looking forward to using it as portable media device - I have longish commute and a backlog of anime and tv shows I haven't watched yet and I don't have a video ipod.
While I haven't had enough time with it to say how well it will do those tasks, I'm excited and looking forward to exploring the (large) world of homebrew on the PSP. It hit a price point where it became pretty attractive.

I will admit I sold my PSP too, and have not played a current (last 4-5 months) PSP release.
I will also say "my bad" -- I did in fact know they had done some downloadable content. What I LONGED for with my PSP was actual online gameplay, something the DS has done rather well. Head to head Kart or chat sessions during a game of Chess all work brilliantly.
If there's more stuff and a nicer form factor, I may reup
