Came across this while surfing the net (specifically, I saw a movie of two fighters tearing each others arms and legs and heads off). Looks pretty cool. The short version is you design your own moves by controlling your character's joints and utilizing the physics engine, save those to macros (I guess?), and use them against other players in a turn-based fight.
Full version is $20, but you get a discount for buying two or three at a time. If you get three it's only $12 a piece. I'm going to try out the demo but it looks like it might be a fun buy. If anyone else is interested, maybe we could figure out how to get the discount.
NOTE: This is not a doodle bug.

To clarify, you don't macro anything. You have x number of seconds (usually 10 in competitive matches, but it can be changed) to configure your joints for your next move. When the timer ticks down, the results of your changes (flexing or extending joints, or applying holds) are reflected, as are your opponent's. Then the match pauses for another x seconds and the cycle repeats.
A lot of people do definitely have tactics and common actions that they apply but there's no built-in macro structure. click click click.
The demo is very permissive, the full version gets you access to different game types and servers, but the demo will let you play the base mode online against other people pretty much indefinitely.
So, no one interested?
Let me show you how bad I suck at this game...
This is single player. The other guy just stands there motionless while you practice your moves on him. I know how to crouch, and how to jump, so here I am, head-butting the practice dummy in the crotch while trying to grab him. But something is wrong. See that little cube, gushing cube juice? See my STUMP? That's right, I suck so bad at this game, I broke my hand off on a defenseless opponent. I BROKE MY HAND OFF. Horrifying, my suckitude.

I gave this a download and tooled around with it for a bit tonight. Very entertaining game, although I'm in roughly the same predicament as Lobster. Every time I figure out a neat new "move" it ends up with my head flying off of my neck and/or various limbs and/or hands and/or feet plopping sadly on the ground.
Interestingly enough, I find my various accidental suicides more enjoyable to watch than when I actually pull off an awesome move that actually works.
After a few hours of actual practice, I'll probably take it online and check it out. This could well be an absolute steal at $12.

I've been tooling around also, and it's a very fun game. I have the problem that I keep falling/jumping out of range. I did a nice kick yesterday, then fell backwards, pulled in my legs and fell on my arms and pushed myself towards my opponent and stretched my legs again for a kick. It looked great, but I only kicked a lot of air.
I don't watch, I interact!
So, I've played about a dozen matches online. It was painful.
My first match I was going to jump up and kick with the left leg. Opponent tapped me and I literally just fell over backwards. The score was like 210 to 0. I then proceeded to lose every single match I played. Not a one of them was even remotely close.
The game has a very very steep learning curve. You definitely need to want to learn to play this game to make any progress in it. I'm pretty close to being hooked.
I think the MA inclined guys like Shiho and Gorilla would really dig something like this. I was watching a few replays and a few live matches with some of the higher ranked guys (watched a few matches between a sandan and a godan), and most of the better players seem to be very bent on using real martial arts moves in the game. Pretty neat to see them reacting to each other's movements in real time like that.
I'm very very impressed with the game so far.

I think I'm making things too hard on myself. If you only get about 10 seconds to make your adjustments, you probably only need to tweak one or two joints at a time, right? Sometimes it takes me 10 seconds to locate my abs.
Anyway burrito, I've got a co-worker here that might be interested. If you're willing to put down $12 and we can find one more, I'll be up for buying. You have PayPal, right? I'd probably have everyone PayPal me their money, then I'd put in the order and distribute the keys.

In Single Player it seems more fun to go crazy with complicated moves.. but yeah, in multiplayer you have a 20 or 25 second timer, and you really don't need to move all that much. Generally you're going to start off with a grab, which is just raising your shoulders, contracting your abs, and making your hands grabby. Or a kick, which is basically just extending your ankle, raise a hip, and contract knee for a nice swift kick.
Then again, I still haven't won a game, so you might want to take my advice with a grain of salt.
Yeap I do have/use paypal. Just have to talk the SO into letting me drop another $12. I just bought two handguns, renewed my XLive Gold, and Picked up GH2 w/ 2 guitars, amongst various and sundry other little things.

Sounds like you've already invested in two very convincing arguments.

You know, now that I can generally kick, punch, grab, and move around (sorta), I seem to be facing myself as an adversary more than my opponents online.
Every time I get off to a good start, I ruin it by pulling my own head/arms/legs off by twisting or bending in the wrong way. In a match about a half hour ago, I was actually close to winning by disqualification (In Judo, I actually managed to grab the guy and get him under me while we were in the air), but when I released my grip on his hips and tried to rotate over so my body would land on him, I somehow managed to punch my head off. Literally. One minute I was in a gripping mid-air wrestling match with another man, and the next my own fist is cleanly decapitating me.
The tragedy.

Me too.
I actually did something cool last night! I jumped up and grabbed my opponent by the head, then slammed my fist down on top of his head and grabbed on there too, then brought my legs up and kicked his entire arm off! Then we kind of fell into a tangled mess with me kicking at his chest and trying to pull his head off, accidentally breaking my hand off in the process.

My spaz-fu is weak, Master, but I am learning.
Man, them biomechanics is tricky stuff.

I really wish they made it look more like robots than people.
Couple of words of advice for multiplayer. First, it's a lot more important to not f*ck up yourself, than to mess up your opponent. So always turn and twist so that you land on your feet/hands, and get in some grabs/punches/kicks in only if you have the luxury of doing so. Second, you always have control of your joints. Even when they are not attached to you. This comes in very handy with sticky hands. Oh and I just remembered... Grabbing your own foot in multiplayer is probably the worst thing you can possibly do.

For once, I didn't totally suck! If you have the game, check out my replay here
If you don't, here's the highlight.
And yes, I made that head myself.

Very cool that there is a linux version available. As soon as I get around to properly installing the Nvidia drivers i'll be giving the demo a whirl.

Played one online match; it was quite the tussle. I would've barely won, but was disqualified. I guess if anything other than your hands and feet touch the ground you get DQ'ed? It did me no good to point out my hand was on the ground, albeit a dozen feet away.
I'm ready to buy this game if only for replays (and to make a crazy-ass head like Lobster's).
RIP ChronicNecrosis
I always thought you got disqualified if your head hit the ground while not attached to your body. Dunno though. Might be a server-side setting.
Making your own head sounds more complicated than it really is. There's a thread on it in the Toribash tutorial forum.

DQ setting, if on, disqualifies you if anything other than your hands or feet touches the ground (including ankles and wrists). Whether it is attached to you or not.

In Judo settings, your ankles and wrists are allowed to touch the ground as well.

I just chose the most generic-sounding server, figuring I wasn't ready for Judo or Tae kwon or what have you.

Rock on. Simple, elegant... and of course spastic & hilarious. *shakes head* The old "put your hands under the other guy's armpits and jump" trick; how could I not have seen it?
RIP ChronicNecrosis
I've mainly been playing on Judo servers. Classic is a little boring to me. I don't like only being able to move one (ten actual frames) frame at a time. Judo gives you a little longer to make your moves, and I believe your moves carry out over 7 frames, which actually lets you make a full move, instead of just a small adjustment at a time.

This game is addicting like few other games I've played. The more you play, the better you get. I've only been playing for a few days now, and every once in awhile I can pull off moves that will gg a higher level black belt.
Once I started learning how the joints all work, everything became much clearer (and faster) in multi. Been playing nonstop the last two days with a few friends (you can find us on GWJ Vent in the War3/DotA channel almost every late night), and it's nonstop laughing.

Oh man. Just got around to checking this out and, man, those demo replays they have are awesome. If I can figure out how to do more then crumple to the ground I'll have to consider picking this up.

All of us that picked up Toribash started there, Lupus. There's a major learning curve, but once you figure out how the ligaments all work with each other, it becomes almost second nature to react to your opponent's moves. Still very good stuff.. not to mention my buddies and I are still playing together pretty often and it's absolute chaos and hilarity on Vent when we're going at it.
