All you GRAW 2 fanatics check this one out. A pausable action RTS from a battalion level using modern US and "Syrian" forces.
I played a lot of the original Combat Mission: Barbarosa to Berlin and loved the tactical aspect of it. The videos on this site blew me away. They mean it when they say they've taken "nearly a decade" of game tech and thrown it back into an already great game engine.

Battlefront is also releasing Theatre of War this month. Described as CM-Lite with upgraded graphics and LOTS of WWII unit types. Initial reviews seem quite positive. Made by the designers of IL-2 Sturmovik and the makers of Combat Mission.

Edit: I played the heck out of CM while I was in Iraq and ToW should be awesome.
Edit #2: Definitely download the little funny movie they made on ToW's website - it's worth a watch.
