I thought this mini cooper campaign was Really, Really Excellent. I've been laughing out loud at some of the episodes.

Oh, and my Action Hero name is Jigsaw Magnum.

The whole "stiff Brit" thing is as hil-arious as ever though. Sh*t accent too - sounds more like a New Zealander than anything else.

Eh, they stole the concept too. The fact that it's ridiculously derivative is kinda the whole point.

The name generator's flawed; both my daughters' names begin with 'E', and they both got 'Edge' from the name generator. Shame.

So far the end of the second episode is my favourite.

Problem is, they did the campaign AFTER Stroker & Hoop used the idea. "Hammer & Coop" is so close to "Stroker & Hoop" that it seems pretty clear that one of their hip young copywriters watched Adult Swim and just brought the concept to work. Why didn't he just use his other idea- a series a shorts about a family that lives in "Dingfield" called the "Mimpsons"?

I have a hard time getting upset that they riffed off a TV show that got canceled 2 years ago after one season. I mean, I saw a few episodes and it was entertaining, but 2 years of dead time isn't fundamentally different than the 20 years of deadtime back to knight rider, or the 2 years back to that hideous Starsky & Hutch movie. Esp since it's a marketing campaign, not a new TV show.

I mean, weren't the BMW Films with Clive Owen just knockoffs of Transporter?

I don't know where they got the idea for The Hire series, but those ran beginning in 2001. The Transporter came out in 2002.

If they crossed The Driver and Hammer I think it would make an epic motion picture.

"Bacardi & Cola" riffed on the same thing; if they and Hammer & Coop are ripping off anything, it's American culture 1970-86.

Adding that Brian guy from Mad TV gave Hammer a real "My Name is Earl" feel.

Not that I need clever advertising to tell me Minis are awesome: I have firsthand experience via a friend who raced them in high school.
