Ships March 20th. The end of the world can't be far behind.
Here's a link to the Gamespot report. I still can't believe it's true. I'm also a little nervous considering the shape it was in only a month ago according to several beta testers. Here's hoping they didn't just throw in the towel and just release it as is.

I am not hopeful.

Gamestar (German print mag) got to review it first and handed out a 90/100. They only criticized the following points:
- animations could be better
- weapons sounds are not that great
- more voice recordings would have been nice
- inventory interface is cumbersome
- occasional AI glitches (but other than that, AI seems to work well)
- lack of variety of weapons available
Overall, the game apparently turned out to be great with beatiful graphics, nice cutscenes, a notable amount of quests, many parts to be explored, good atmosphere and story, well-designed levels where every piece feels handcrafted etc.
I am a little more hopeful.

Either that's some more crazy European reversed numbering or this game is going to ROCK YOUR FACE OFF!

10/90 is too complicated a reviewing system, no way i could wrap my head around it... "hmm, so this game got 78/90, that means its 86.6666667% awesome

The common theme I heard in the beta previews - this is a FPS Oblivion. Huge world, lots of quests to go on, a bit of emergent AI here and there, etc etc. Oblivion with guns. I'll buy it.
We shall grapple with the ineffable, and see if we may not eff it after all.
Yeah, the buzz so far is surprisingly positive. I'm always looking for a fresh FPS fix on the PC, so I'll give this one a shot.

I'm mainly nervous because the game has gone gold, yet the promised "beta" on Fileplanet hasn't materialized. What are you hiding? Answer me! I'm still hopeful, I love the concept and the gameplay reports.

I got my fileplanet beta 2 weeks ago. It's not much of a multiplayer game unfortunately.
My days of not taking you seriously have certainly come to a middle.

That was my thought too, I even checked back in and Fileplanet says the beta is upcoming. Are we beta-testing the release day patch?
Sinatar, so you actually got to play it? I've been cautiously optimistic on this title, I hope there is a demo or beta that I can try.

This preview on Shacknews has got me pretty excited. It's pretty spoilerific about the beginning of the game and first couple missions if you've got issues with that sort of thing, but otherwise it gives you a pretty good idea of what to expect from the game. Day 1 purchase for me.
Mr T broke the speed of light in the A-Team van because he wanted to prove that quantum physics was a bunch of Jibba Jabba.
The beta is multiplayer only and this is definitely a single player focused game. All I can really take away from the beta is that it looks great, runs great and has absolutely fantastic atmosphere. But from purely a multiplayer standpoint, it's bare bones and not all that compelling.

The $39.99 price tag scares too.
But I don't think it will crash or run worse than Oblivion did.
Refresh my memory, please. Is this the post-apocalyptic one with mutants and whatnot?

That preview sounds pretty good.

Brilliant. Consider me excited, then, despite being convinced that I'm nowhere near the system requirements.

Great News, I am shocked it's actually getting released though, it's a must buy as well
I've been excited for this game for years now
it's all good

There you have it. The three stages of the GWJ hype effect. The fourth and final stage, "I am a rabid fanboy" doesn't always show up, but is a possibility. Science is fun!
Edit: Oh, by the way. I am excited too.

I'm concerned about the problems Gothic had, i.e. poor translation and a buggy endgame. If you play through Oblivion with guns, you don't want it to lock up at hour 190+ and not be able to finish it. $40 is good, but with average multiplayer there's no sense of urgency to buy.
I may wait till I get a new computer and pick this one out of the bargain bin a year from now. Unless someones face gets rocked off.
Hopeful things I've heard from the GFW podcast include moderate stealthyness possibilities, and the fact that "this is not a Western game" and "it doesn't feel like a game you've ever played". I'm not sure what that means, but I like it.

You really wouldn't want to compare a game distributed and financed by a third-rate publisher like JoWooD to a product under the wings of a major US publisher, would you?
I'm excited for anything post-apocalyptic.
I've gotten to the point where I just assume that I either fall short of or barely meet the requirements. Of course that doesn't often stop me from playing the game, those long loading times become killer though.

Well, to be fair, Piranha Bytes are not exactly famed for their in-house QA, either. I'd not lay all the blame at JoWood's feet.
And if I haven't seen further, it's because those bloody giants blocked my sight.
Sure, PB played their role - but, ultimately, it's the publisher to be finally test and greenlight a game. A publisher just doesn't sit there and accepts whatever software comes his way.
