Heroes 26-02-07 (*spoilers*)

Wow, that was a great episode. So many things were answered, yet so many questions remain.
We now know why Mr. Bennet knew the Devaux building, it used to be his companys HQ. And also why Claude tends to the birds there. Even more surprising is that Hiros father is involved in the company. How will this affect Hiro in the current storyline?
Besides the fact that they only moved one storyline ahead in this episode (unless you count Parkmans), there was nothing bad. A few minor glitches, but nothing that can ruin the overall awesomeness of this show.
Anyway, your thoughts...

Easily my favorite episode yet. The pacing was fast, and I love seeing the flashbacks that help explain the background story of Bennet and Claude...and that other Chuck Bronson lookin guy, whoever HE turns out to be (I know he seems to be Bennet's immediate superior in the organization, but what else...)
Hiro's father certainly seemed to be quite highly placed the way he was giving orders to Bennet in that flashback. Possibly the boss?
And the final scene...OK I admit it, call me a sissy, whatever, but I felt tears welling up in my eyes. I thought it was poignant and well done.
This episode had me on the edge of my seat the whole time, start to finish.

I find it strange that they decided to cast Bennet in a different light this episode. From the cold, calculated person that would memory wipe his wife to the caring father that was only trying to shelter the surrogate daughter he grew to love.

I think for several episodes now Bennet has been cast as a man who would do anything to try and protect his family. Hence, saying that he had no problems with things in gray areas. Sure he had his wife mind wiped, but he was doing it so she wouldn't be killed.

I think Bennet's been conflicted about his job for quite some time now, as he has known about Claire and has been hiding her from The Organization.
It seems he has developed feelings that he never knew he would have before he was forced to adopt her, and those paternal feelings have come into conflict with his original younger self's dedication to the organization.
We've seen him waver back and forth between good and evil for quite a few episodes now. I love the way his character has developed and changed.
I wonder how much of and/or what memories (if any? who knows?) the Haitian took from him there at the end. It certainly allows the possibility of him forgetting enough of the past few weeks to start him back at square one again, more or less dedicated to the organization's goals.

He did tell the Haitan to 'go deep', so that does point to wiping out a good chunk of his memory. So he may very well be like he was in the beginning.

I am just glad Mr. Muggles made it out of the house before Ted blew up.
Oh, and this was a great episode. I have been waiting for Claire to have to go out on her own away from her family all season. It will be interesting to see if they flesh the Haitian out more or just push him into the background again.

Yes, but perhaps the Haitian will be a bit more "surgical" than that, of his own volition. We've already seen him disobey for his own ends. We shall see.

Awesome episode, but Eric Frakking Roberts?!.. Why don't they cast Ted McGinley and get it over with?

You mean Eric Roberts? Hey in the previews did Linderman look like Donald Sutherland to anyone else? I thought the episode was pretty cool. I had a few gripes, but it was over trivial stuff really.
Also I bet the mind wiping of Claire's dad will have some bad repercussions like him being a bad guy of sorts again.
Yeah, the whole 80's collar thing, especially at the end when he showed up in the present day, was a little ridiculous.
I do have to say, Parkman joining the organization I did NOT see coming, and I'm extremely happy that his downward spiral appears to be over. At least I hope so, cause that's painful to watch.
Couple thoughts for the future: Haitian seems tailor made to slip back into the background. They've ignored the high school friend all episode, so I'm not sure he's coming back. Think she'll go to see Peter? Either way, I think her storyline is out of it for the next couple episodes.
Is Hiro really his dad's son? Or is he adopted like Claire? He was wandering around secret areas when he's old enough to remember, what does that say about his past? The organization, while it seems benign in vision, is pretty sinister to kill off agents who hide mutants (by their partners, no less). Mutants certainly seem to play a subordinate role in the organization.
With Sylar and Bennett's organization covered, Linderman is the only real unknown remaining to be addressed, and it looks like he's coming up next. Think he'll be related to the organization in some way?
Hyperbole - THE BEST THING EVER
My gf just brought up an interesting point to me. EVERYONE seems to be involved on that rooftop somehow. People who have been on it to this point are: Isaac, Peter, Simone, Invisible Guy, Bennet, Hiro, Hiro's Dad, Claire, Eric Roberts, and the Haitian. It's also appeared in at least two paintings. Future plot point or just reusing the same set?
Hyperbole - THE BEST THING EVER
I don't think Hiro's dad is 'the boss' (I think that's Linderman but who knows) but it adds a 'what-if' layer to the whole wanting Hiro to take over the 'family business'.
So are Hiro's sister and Lyle (Claire's brother) also Muties?
Do you ever walk alone like a drifter in the dark?
Agemmon mentioned that the rooftop was the roof of the organization's former office. I guess that makes sense, although I don't remember it being explicitly shown to be so. I need to watch this one again.

YES.
"That's Donald Sutherland's head!" I said to my wife.
One of those many quote situations you'd never consider yourself saying when you wake up in the morning...
Great episode.

I said the same thing to my g/f! I hope he plays a real mean s.o.b. too. So I was just thinking about when Mohinder was in india, and he met that girl who offered him a job. It was a company doing dna research... That has to work its way back into the picture somehow right?
Chance for Hiro's sister (although like I said, looks like Hiro might be adopted himself), I doubt Lyle is. Bennett said they were trying to conceive before adopting Claire, and I doubt they stopped.
One BIG question mark that keeps coming back to my mind is that the organization has shown several times that they have the ability to nullify powers. However it doesn't seem to be something that Bennett can control without extensive planning, and doesn't work all the time. How does that work?
Hyperbole - THE BEST THING EVER
Do we really need a different thread for this show, each and every week?
Anyway, loved this ep. I was a little annoyed that Parkman didn't just shoot NukeMan. Perhaps he was still hopeful about calming down the situation, but when he started to blow, that's the time to put a bullet in him.

They never explicitly said it was their head office, but seeing how so many important characters are involved to in some way to that rooftop I drew the conclusion that, if not their main office, it's certainly something important to them.
The one quirk I had about this episode is that after Claire sent Sprague to lala-land she just walked out of the front door, fried like a steak and went on to heal right in front of everyone. You'll notice neighbors were walking over there, understandably.

I, as Im sure most of you out there, really enjoyed last nights episode. I think this was an episode that typifies what Lost watchers lament that they never get. I think this episode we finally got a bite of the dangling carrot.
I really like the dynamic of having the mind reading cop partner with glasses dad. (I'd wager that the flashback bit where claire helps him select his glasses was a nod to the fans) The "right hook coming" bits were great and kudos to the actors for pulling it off believably.
I also really liked the backstory with glasses dad and dr who. Please, please, please, please, creators of the show, do not get rid of dr who's character. His character, peter, hiro, claire, the haitian, and glasses dad are really strong. (well written, well played)

You know what made this episode great? No Nikki or Jessica
There was something in there that the Haitian said that was interesting, that he wasnt working for Bennet's organization's interests, but for Claire's interests. The exact way he worded it made me wonder if he was working for Nathan to protect Claire, which might sort of explain why Nathan was able to fly away when confronted by Mr Bennet and the Haitian in one of the early episodes.
edit: Though probably not directly for Nathan (since he didnt know of Claire), possibly Nathan's mother or father or somesuch.

After seeing what happened I'd be worried it would set him off even sooner.
Yeah, this to me was the most intriguing aspect of this great episode. We learned that Bennet's organization has had the Haitian since he was a young boy, yet during that entire time no one knew he could talk, talk about self-disicpline. Was he planted into Bennet's organization from the beginning or did he go off the reservation on his own?
I also think I heard the Haitian say something to the effect that he was answering/working with someone else who was of his kind. To me this implies yet another faction we will soon learn about, one that has a lot of knowledge about the current state of muties, and that is led by muties.

I had another guess at who Linderman really is. I'm thinking (hoping!) it could be
Though the other person mentioned earlier would also be a lot of fun.

Great Poker Blog
Something no-one's mentioned so far- considering that the episode's title was "Company Man" it may be a possibility that the Ominous Unnamed Organization either is or is a branch of the CIA.
It's been sort of implied (via his interaction with Matt, Sylar & Edan) that part of the Haitian's power involves being able to suppress powers and/or send them to sleep. Considering that repeated mindf*cking of Claire's mom gave her a brain embolism it's possible that the Haitian's power isn't memory removal so much as it is just messing with the physical structure of the brain, but that he uses it most often to precision strike the parts of the brain where specific memories are stored. If this is the case he would be able to affect any function of the brain, including suppressing powers.
When they had Syler in captivity and the Haitian wasn't around it just seemed like they kept him doped up enough that he couldn't concentrate on using his accumulated powers.
pascal's wager is a fool's bet
The main reason why that doesn't seem to be the case is Nathan flying away when attacked by them. It seems unlikely that it was orchestrated. Maybe they'll do some flashback in the future where we'll see Bennett berating the Haitian for not stopping him, but it seems like there's something else at work.
It could just be a plot hole, but it seemed like that was actually one of the main reasons for the scene. I'm sure we'll find out before too long, a nullification ability is just too powerful.
Hyperbole - THE BEST THING EVER
I think it had more to do with them having no idea Nathan could fly. I doubt it's just a passive suppression field, the Haitian probably has to try to do it.

Yah it might not be instantaneous. When he clouded the cop, the haitian had been in the cop's local environment for a while. Even if it takes 5 seconds to activate, that is a world of opportunity to escape when compared to instantaneous.

Really good episode, though the almost exact rip off of the ending of X3 was a bit cheesy.
My days of not taking you seriously have certainly come to a middle.

Haven't seen X3, but Peters little "Neo" moment caught me the same way.
All in all I thought it was fun with lots of wow moments. I'm afraid to see what they do with HRGG though. I had really grown to like him, and one way or another I'm pretty sure that character is over.

I'm curious to see, as the teaser showed, why Simone (black chick's name right?) isn't dead.
Also, very proud of the character arc for Mr. Bennett. Saved this show for me honestly. Well written, well played FTW.
