WoW - An RP PVP home for GWJ? (Gankers with Jobs?)

Hi all,

We are having a lot of fun on Baelgun and I know a lot of folks are on Blackhand. Beyond that, I'm sure we all have characters scattered across the server landscape.

On Baelgun, which is a normal server, a bunch of us are set to pvp flagged all the time. Server population is still low as its a new PVE server, so encounters in the wild are kinda rare and we are always at the disadvantage that the enemy can decide when to flag pvp. (After that advantage has worn off, I think we tend to walk away quite happy from all our pvp encounters to date). The funny thing is, I've noticed, every pvp encounter has been a unique and fun story unto itself.

So this post is definitely inspired by an idea I heard Trashidawa and another guildie discussing around maybe making some casual pvp characters on one of the Servers. I dont think GWJ has an established or consolidated PVP presence on a server as of yet, and it would be great if we identified a place we could all go that is THE GWJ PvP server.

The idea here wouldnt be to get into a serious level grind of restarting characters, or decimate the ranks of existing GWJ guilds on Blackhand/Baelgun, but instead, to just provide an outlet for folks to go for 100% pvp fun (aka mature and controlled gank-age) where they know they could find some fellow GWJ'ers.

What do you think? Would folks be interested in sharing the excitement of a Horde pvp guild? Is there an RP PVP server that might make sense? Maybe we could set PVP nights to bring folks together from across all our little virtual azeroths or just leave it more random and casual than that?

I've been working on an alliance priest on Darkspear (PvP server), because i have some friends there.

One thing that I like about Darkspear is that the economy seems pretty strong to me. Compared to my characters on Arygos (a PvE server), I get decent prices on stuff I put up in the auction house. So I'm confident I will have enough money for a mount by the time I'm at level 40.

The same group of friends also plays horde on Eredar, but I don't see them play there very much.

The original (since February 2005) GWJ PVP server is Frostmane (Horde). AFAIK, there are only two of us still representing over there but if you get to level 10 and drop me a line, I'll send you some starter gold. Additionally, while I can't get you into my raiding guild, I can very likely get you into a guild run by some very GWJ-like friends of mine.

Frostmane is a mature server with a well-established PVP scene and is one of the only servers with it's own Wiki.

I played a NE warrior up to around level 27 and a Troll Shaman to around 20 on RP PVP servers and it was a great experience. I'd love to do it again. The RP servers tend to be more mature (I don't actually roleplay that heavily) and PVP is certainly exciting.

I've been itching to try an Undead rogue. Pick a server and I'm there.

EDIT: both Ravenholdt and The Venture Co. are low population RPPVP servers if we wanted to start anew.

I could be in as well. Just started back up, playing a draeni pally on Llane to be with some friends, but that server seems awfully weighted toward high level players. It's been next to impossible for me to find anyone to group up with.

We are still here. Feel free to drop in and join the guild. Swat is our guild leader but a lot of use are able to send out invites. We have characters ranging from 10 to 70 that actively play so you shouldn't be without others to play with. My character name is Mentatwhiz should you wish to join us there.

I'd enjoy a pvp server but not sure I can justify time spent between 2 chars especially since I've never seen any of the content past that Zul instance in Tanaris

I got into WoW just recently mainly because of the RP-PVP. Thus I currently have two Horde characters on Ravenholdt, which is a relatively new server with a someone low population. The War Effort storyline only just got activated a few weeks ago.

Already I have seen some pretty awesome RP here, and that's just in the RP channel alone. Sometimes RP just breaks out in the General channel, and some players do RP in the middle of the main cities.

On the other hand I have seen some pretty asshat behaviour that can only happen in PVP servers, like a lvl70 Gnome mage camping Tarren Hill, a lvl 25-35 area...

Do we have enough interest to get people on Ravenholdt? I'd jump. But that's just because I love starting new characters.

Hrm, Trashidawa and I came up with this idea because we're both a couple of asshats, and wanted to go to a server where we could express our asshatness (like getting to lvl 70 and camping a 25 lvl area...)

Characters: Indrajit (WoW), Alethia (WAR), Tyagaraja (WAR), Bharata (AoC), Ahalya (AoC)

Come to Frostmane, you'll fit right in.

Edit: If you like you're ganking a little less serious, the prequel has a completely different tone.

Edit2: Reading deep into the comments of this blog post, I am reminded of the fact that, after linking the above video, I should probably add the disclaimer here that, although my friend and co-worker Softserv has managed to talk me into it a time or two, I generally disapprove of significantly-disparate-level ganking as well as corpse camping (i.e. griefing) regardless of level though I have no issue with "ganking" in the sense of finishing off the job that a mob started or is still in the process of attempting. That's life on a PVP server and knowing that it can happen to me in turn adds that little bit of an edge that you just don't find on the "normal" servers. (Additional views similar to mine are somewhat reflected in this comment on the aforementioned post.

I was pretty excited about starting up a new character on a PvP server but now I'm not so sure. Like Irongut mentioned, a bunch of us on Baeglun have been going around flagged all the time and I'm finiding that it's pretty gratifying to watch the process of people deciding when to turn on their flag and attack us. Its a whole new mind game.

Like Dream said, we've run a very solid Guild with a decent amount of members for a while now, run by GWJ members so we have the same vibe. Great times and a no asshats policy, so it's working pretty good.

We could always use new members and another Warrior or Druid if anyone's interested. Any new members (especially GWJ) get a great welcoming and care package when they join.

We have a solid number of 70s and almost 70s as well as a new interest in the 1-20 crowd, so now would be the time to create an alt if you're interested.

Swat,

I might just come over again an role a toon on Dal. For whatever reason the PvE grind just isn't doing it for me anymore. I keep trying but find myself growing increasingly bored with the endless mob grind. At least with a PvP environment there's another form of adrenaline to keep me occupied.

I still have that druid I started on Dal; I'll have to pop on again sometime and actually start playing that server some.

I have rolled TankMateo (an orc warrior) for WATS. Bear, they need some high level warriors over there...

Let's see:

NE Warrior on Blackhand.
Taruen Warrior on Baelgun.
Orc Warrior on Dalvengyr.
BE Rogue on Earthen Ring.

Time for anything other than WOW=none.

I'm pretty much done with the warrior class Mateo, I'm all tanked and mortal striked out. If I roll anything it'll probably something ranged and easy to level. Gee, what class could that be?
