As for her death, I think it's telling that CNN had it on all afternoon, especially in Wolf Blitzer's Situation Room, and still had it on hours later when I was flipping around the TV. Call me callous but WHO CARES?! I'm almost craving coverage of that psycho-astronaut lady. Jeebus.

Still, as annoying as she was, she didn't strike me as a mean-spirited person, just an emotionally f'ed person who happened to fall into a body that gave her money and fame. I heard a little more on the story this morning, and from an unconfirmed source, they say that she probably died from aspiration (breathing in vomit). She was ill a few days previous to her death, had run a 105F temperature, had passed out on multiple occasions (most likely from the narcotics said to be in her room), and was allowed to rest while laying on her back. Sad way to go, especially when it's common sense that if someone's sick, and has passed out recently, you don't ever allow them to lie on their back. You position them on their side so when they vomit, it doesn't go right back down their windpipe.

I'm sure thousands of better people died yesterday and Wolf Blitzer didn't have an on-air orgasm about them. The whole thing got media overkill. Really, a nut died, likely from years of self abuse. Hardly news.
Wolf Blitzer went from being a decent journalist to a complete shmuck and a total caricature of the self important reporter that think his analysis is more important than the news.

Having had fevers of 104 before, I'm not so sure it's fair to say that her passing out can be blamed on narcotics. I passed out and had hallucinations and I was on nothing stronger than NyQuil.

They didn't mention that she was passing out until after they got her down to 100-101F. Sorry, I forgot to mention they threw cold packs on her with some success.
I know what you mean though... I've spiked 103F with strep and couldn't tell you what happened for hours after that. My memory is so mangled I have no clue what was going on.
