I love these kind of articles

So I thought I would throw it out to everybody here,
what games did most of us miss out on this year?
(or more appropriately which games sold like crap but really
didnt deserve to?)
SteamId = RevenantKel

I almost bought War of the Monsters and Mark of Kri. I can''t remember what I heard about WotM that turned me off. MoK worried me because a week after it came out it was 30 bucks at Wal Mart.
I only remember buying about 4 or 5 PC titles so if anything good came out for PC this year, chances are I missed it.
Armed and Dangerous.
Okay, so it''s not the most innovative shooter, and it''s not that long (though longer than Call of Duty), but it does have a neat story and is funny as hell. Plus, pretty much everything is destructible. Worth the price of a rental (if not purchase) just to watch the cutscenes.

Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum sonatur. (Whatever is said in Latin sounds profound.) - Roedy Green
I''ve heard Amplitude is good from a few sources. True?

All this science I don't understand. It's just my job five days a week.
I am thinking of picking up Prince of Persia, especially if the price has dropped. I am really surpised that its sales were as bad as they were.
So...where is the list of PC games that I missed?

Well, of course, there''s a number of very enjoyable indie/shareware games. Not unexpected since there''s no or hardly any marketing behind them and only a rather limited audience is aware of them. Also, games like Geneforge 2 - basically created by the one-man-show Jeff Vogel''s Spiderweb Software is - don''t look that attractive to the average customer on first sight because the graphics don''t really hint at the gem hidden beneath them.
As for mainstream titles - and that shouldn''t be a surprise - I''d have to say Gothic 2 in the English/US regions. It''s an excellent game, but at the end of 2003 everyone was talking about KoTOR, ToEE or Lionheart when it came to the titles genre fans liked or were disappointed with. While Gothic 2 might not have sold like ''crap'', it certainly didn''t sell as well as it would have deserved. One of the best games in the recent past, but suffering from the same fate that many Euro-made titles do.
Runaway: A Road Adventure - probably the best adventure game of 2003. Chrome - not as bad as the trailers were. Blitzkrieg - a worthwhile WWII RTS. Tropico 2 - reached bargain regions pretty fast.
Freedom Fighters went to the bargin bins pretty quickly, and its quite a bit of fun. Not innovative, but it doesn''t purport to be.
I didn''t buy anything that was a new release this year. RE-Bought Badlur''s Gate I and II collections; got Diablo Battlechest, NWN, and SoU (which I guess is new). So I guess I missed out on everything.

Prince of Persia was one of those games where I was amazed by the graphical polish, control polish, presentation, and overall balance. Yet, I didn''t really find it grabbed me - I rented it on a free coupon, got about 4 hours of play, and haven''t had much of an urge to rent it again.
SNES to PC adapters,
Strange NES reviews,
and a free, original, turn-based old school RPG in the spirit of Fallout and Phantasy Star.

Gothic 2? I know I haven''t played it and I don''t seem to hear much about it, but I do hear is pretty positive.

Mark of Kri is awesome, take my word for it. I''ve seen it in some places for as low as $14.99 new. Pick it up if you can.
I missed Max Payne 2 in 2003 but I''ll probably get it for my B-day at the end of the month.

2003 games I want but just couldn''t afford to buy as the year progressed (will probably pick up several this year):
Prince of Persia (I''ll buy it in January with that Splinter Cell for free offer)
Max Payne 2 (I have yet to finish part 1)
Gothic 2 (Made me promise myself to finish ToEE first; I need to stop making new parties and just play through, but it''s too fun creating characters!)
Armed & Dangerous (looks simply hilarious)
Final Fantasy Tactics (Made me promise myself to finish Fire Emblem first)
NWN: Hordes of the Underdark (Christmas shopping season; couldn''t afford to buy it yet)
Final Fantasy X2 (I''m replaying FFX first, plus I just couldn''t afford to pick it up yet)
I''m sure there are more, just can''t think of them yet. This fall had a slew of great games, but I just couldn''t afford to buy them yet. I had an expensive fall: upgraded my pc, Christmas shopping, finishing the DS9 DVD collection, Trilogy Tuesday (I made it into a mini-vacation for myself and my girlfriend; she sorely needed the getaway, and I couldn''t resist spoiling her), and other various expenses.
I figure by February I can start picking up a couple of these, but I really want to limit myself this year instead of the 2-year-long spending spree I''ve been on for games.
