Help me plan my honeymoon!
So, the little lady and I are looking to go on a cruise after we get married. A family friend who is a travel agent e-mailed me some options, most of which are Royal Carribean (all but the last two, I think).
Anyone want to take a stab at the various destinations (or other factors) and suggest which one we should go on, or what destinations are best, what ships are best...really, any help at all would be awesome.
Here's the info I've got:
Royal Carribean
Splendour of the Seas-would depart from Galveston on 2/26 for 5 nights and sails to Cozumel and Costa Maya
Mexico
Rhapsody of the Seas-would depart from Galveston on 2/25 for 7 nights and sails to Key West, Grand Cayman and Cozumel
Enchantment of the Seas-would depart on 2/26 from Ft. Lauderdale for 5 nights to Key West Cozumel and Belize
Majesty of the Seas-would depart on 2/26 for 4 nights from Miami and sails to Nassau, Coco Cay and Key West
Soverign of the Seas-would depart on 2/26 for 4 nights from Pt. Canaveral and sails to Coco Cay and Nassau
Adventure of the Seas-7 night cruise from San Juan on 2/25 and sails to Aruba Curacao, St. Maarten and St. Thomas
Explorer of the Seas-7 night cruise from Miami on 2/25 and sails to Belize, Costa Maya, Cozumel and Cayman
Freedom of the Seas-7 night cruise from Miami on 2/25 and sails to Cozumel, Cayman, Montego Bay Jamaica and Labadee
Mariner of the Seas-7 night cruise from Pt. Canaveral on 2/25 and sails to Labadee, Ocho Rios Jamaica, Cayman and Cozumel
Radiance of the Seas-6 night cruise from Ft. Lauderdale on 2/25 and sails to Key West, Cozumel, Cayman and Montego Bay
Holland America - Westerdam sailing from Ft. Lauderdale on 2/25 for 7 nights-sails to Half Moon Cay, Aruba and Curacao.
Celebrity-has the Millennium sailing from Ft. Lauderdale on 2/25 for 7 nights to Casa del Campo-Dominican Republic, San Juan, St. Thomas and Nassau.
Thanks!

Cozumel and the whole Mayan Coast region are awesome. I wouldn't pass those up if you have even a passing interest in Mayan civilization/culture. I can't vouch for anything beyond that.

Costa Maya and Cozumel are both quite beautiful. If I remember right, we rode dolphins in Cozumel, and... I think we toured a butterfly farm in Costa Maya (might have been Grand Cayman... this was the cruise we took back in 2003, and my memory is a little fuzzy).
Grand Cayman was beautiful, and might be again if they've rebuilt it. If they're touring there again they must have done a lot of work (was ripped to shreds from the hurricanes a few years back). You can also visit Hell, and send post cards from there (it's a city/town, with it's own post office).
The water in St. Thomas is stunning. Truly stunning. We didn't do any shore excursions during that cruise though, so I can't help ya out there. Also, watch out for jellyfish. My wife and I decided to get out of the water when one decided to swim between us (we were about 5ft apart).
San Juan is the same as St. Thomas, though the town you port at looks a little run down. If you need some article of clothing you forgot to pack, there's a Marshall's there that has pretty good prices. If I remember correctly, they have a few horse and carriage rides that do historical tours of the area. Might be something to look into for that "never stop courting" feel.
Jamaica is hot. To put it into perspective, our captain came over the intercom as we were leaving and promised that the cruise line would visit someplace cooler next year... like Hell (the biblical Hell, not the town in Grand Cayman).
From the three cruises I've been on, the best advice I can give is to go with a 7 day, and not plan too much on shore. If you don't see any excursions that really excite you, just go on shore and shop, or do some swimming on the beach (Jamaica is good for alcohol, but read up on the ships rules about buying alcohol). Snorkeling is a lot of fun in most of these ports (we did this in Grand Cayman), but make sure to bring a water camera... and lots of sunblock.
Check out the spa on the first day (I could put this in all caps, and it would not emphasize this point enough). If they are going to run a good deal, it'll be within about the first few hours while passengers are boarding. Our last cruise we bought an unlimited thermal suite pass, and laid around on heated tile beds and sat in sauna's for most of the 9 days. It was one of the most relaxing times of my life (we decided we didn't want to do shore excursions at all, so we'd shop a bit on shore, then come back to the spa and lay around).
Plan to spend an extra $20 to $40 on the formal nights. Pictures are better when she's wearing a corsage, and you're wearing a boutonniere. Make sure to do pictures both in color, and B&W (or, make sure you have color pictures taken in front of a fairly bland backdrop if they just convert them to B&W).
For the room, a balcony makes a large difference. Go with a private one if you can afford it. Make sure the room you get, no matter what kind, is in the middle of the ship. The front tends to rock a lot, and the back rocks, and you have to listen to the engines the whole time.
If you shop, check out jewelery stores. Many are priced lower than what you can buy in the states. Many will haggle. If you shop in Cozumel, expect just about every Mexican there to either say, "Hey buddy! I got somethin here for your lady friend," or "Hey Lady, you want your hair braided?"
Plan to eat. A lot. I don't know if Royal Caribbean offers this (it's a Princess deal), but if they ask you to pay $35 or so for unlimited soda... buy it. If you drink one per meal, you'll go through $35 worth of soda in the first few days.
Good luck Fed.

Okay, here's the plan. First you get a room. It can have a bed, but it doesn't necessarily have to. Then you give her a deep soulful kiss as her warm fingers begin unbuttoning your . . . .
Hold on. I got to go to my bunk.
Jamaica sucks... that's all I have to add

If you stop at St. Thomas, do your best to get over to St. John to experience the beaches there. Much less crowded, much more upscale. I can't gush about that place enough.
I called it, just sayin'.
As was I... which is why I only mentioned that it was hot. The only good thing I remember about Jamaica was $15 for a pretty large bottle of vanilla extract that we found in a little store near the port (would have been around $40-$50 for it here). They're alcohol is a bit cheaper, but not what I would consider a bargain. There are a lot of rum cake shops though, many that offer free samples, which was pretty sweet. I think we bought $40 in rum cake alone.

Dude, check out my thread here and seriously consider Couples Resorts. They will treat you like kings, especially if you're newlyweds.

I did my honeymoon at Young Island, a small private island off the coast of St. Vincent. Very fun. No regrets. Long time ago though.

Okay, first, get a video camera. A good one, you know, digital.
Second, get a nice solid tripod.
Third, set it up in your honeymoon suite.
Fourth....

So, I don't mean to be a Mr. Negative, but I've been on a few cruises, cheap and pricey, and I won't be going again. I've found them to be universally mediocre experiences. THere's never enough time to do anything interesting on shore, wherever you stop is an overrun tourist trap, and the food is too plentiful, not very good, and you don't want to hang out with any of the people you meet.
OK, so I'm Mr. Negative.
Before we had kids, and before the market crashed, my wife and I travelled 6-8 weeks a year, 70 percent of it for diving. Whether you dive or not, I recommend either finding a nice club med/upscale couples resort (Turks and Caicos is a favorite) and just hanging out for a week. All the in and out of the cruise ship gets old 48 hours in.
My top list, if you're thinking "warm" would be (and this is with a focus on being in the water doing *something), in order.
Club Med Turks (just damn fun, pretty good watersports too)
Bonaire
Palau
Anywhere of the Northeast coast of Australia
Truk/Yap (only if you dive)
Yucatan (although if you dive, go further south to belize)
Barbados (esp if you *don't* dive as it's just a fun place to hang out)
Grand Cayman (more upscale/developed)
LEAST favorite place: Jamaica. All of it. Every stinking inch I've seen.
And allow me to recommend our Honeymoons (one very short, one much longer) -- Disney world, and backpacking on a shoestring in Europe.

Rabbit,
Thanks for your thoughts! A little about me: I'm totally not an outdoorsy person, and I don't like the water. The cruise appeals to my desire to not be outside much.
See, I have this saying, which I think that you will find historically accurate, possibly amusing: The outdoors are so bad that man invented the indoors just to get away from them!
And I find the idea of sailing through the night to be very romantic, in multiple senses of the word.

AH! Well, then it might totally be the thing for you! I'd recommend an itinerary that doesn't include Jamaica then (which it looks like your options don't). The ABC's are wonderful and majestic, and St. Thomas is very very nice. I'd avoid DR and San Juan personally. The one's from Texas actually sound really interesting. Cozumel is kind of overrun, but the Coast is really lovely, and there's good exploring to be had.
