My Living Room is now a gaming den.....

I give up:D

Robear and I are gamers. We have played games for as long as either of us can remember.

For years, I have fought to have something close to a formal living room. First we moved the computer in so he'd be easy to hand when i needed help with our son. Then we developed a network in the living room again to keep our son close to hand and monitor what he was doing on the internet.

For years I fought any other game console, we have the computers....I caved for a gamecube with the understanding that it would go in the basement. We even made a space down there for the kids. Then I caved for a PS2 so we could play DDR and Guitar Hero. The PS2 lives...you guessed it, in the living room. Now we have a wii and it lives in the living room too.

Why the living room you ask? We are gamers, our friends come over and we always end up playing Guitar Hero and now the wii.

I think my formal entertaining area just got moved to the basement, not that we'd ever use it. We have a living room!

This is exactly how I picture my living room, once I leave the home base. It's the natural way of things, the inevitable end point of any personal living space. Why fight the inevitable?

It wasn't already?

Maybe it's just me, but adding a Wii is not exactly the straw that broke the camel's back.

BTW, Ro said he wouldn't have the Wii set up till later in the week... he couldn't resist it, could he?

My bedroom is my current gaming mecca. I have 2 computers and a laptop (the laptop is an older weak one but it's hooked up just because I had an empty space), my PSP charger so I can play from my desk if I have a long gaming session, and my PS2 and XB360 hooked up to my 42" HD plasma (yeah for Black friday deals!).

I hope to be adding a Wii soon but I'm not really up for travelling the entire state going store to store asking if they have any. From what I heard around mid-feb they will have many more in the stores and available for people like me. Yes, the people who check Walmart when I'm there for something else and nowhere else

Our place isn't big enough for it to go anywhere else. We've got 2 bedrooms, no den, no garage, no basement. The cats get 1 room. For a while the PS2 lived up in our bedroom, but it's back in the living room, along with the tv setup, my 2 computers, and my wife's home base (she has a tablet so it's very portable). The Playstation and Dreamcast are also here, but off in a corner and not hooked up.

There was some semblance of ...of....of something not gaming. Now, I just give up. No more exiling the kids to the basement.

Ro totally couldn't wait to set it up. He barely made it to saturday.

Hm, I'm in a 1-bedroom apartment. I have a bedroom, a bathroom, and a front room + kitchenette. I'm not worried about the games invading the corner with the TV, I'm worried about running out of room for more books. Delicious, delicious books.

In my living room, I have my 40" HDTV, Sky HD, a DVD/PVR combo, surround sound and a VHS hooked up.

Oh, and in the corner next to my recliner, a 20" LCD TV with my 360, Wii, Dreamcast, PS2 and Xbox all hooked up. I have my laptop in the living room, and my DS and PSP live in the same unit as the consoles. Every drawer in the room is filled with games!

It isn't as bad as it sounds, and the unit is on wheels, and rools into the corner, mostly hidden my the sofa, when not in use. When we first moved in, my (non-gamer) wife wanted the consoles upstairs, but she soon discovered that she rarely saw me! This way, she can watch telly while I game with headphones on, and it is easy for me to hook things up to the big TV when she isn't using it.

I can't say I expected him to. He sounded like he was already having trouble resisting it on Friday night when I chatted with him about it. Not that I think I would have lasted longer.

As for the living room... I think Ro might have slowly made it a gaming den under your nose... it's been one since before I started coming over.

Yup, same here. TV with PS2, Gamecube (Wii by next month, hopefully!) hooked up, Mac Mini serving up the music and 'net connection quietly from the corner, and then usually two laptops on laps. It ain't yer mother's living room. But it is exactly how my S.O. and I want it

As for books, the storage areas we have are largely occupied by boxes of lovely, lovely books.

When I was single living in my condo, I had my PS1->PS2 and Dreamcast in the living room but I wasn't too worried about having a formal living room at the time. Then I got married, bought a house and the PS2 went to the bedroom, the Dreamcast went to my brother's house since I rarely played it after getting the PS2 (I miss it now though...). Now that we have moved into the world of HD, our latest console has found its home in the living room once again. Our HDTV was too big for the bedroom's entertainment center, so it had to go in the living room...and wherever the HDTV goes, so does the 360!

Now we play the 360, PSP, and DS in the living room. If we ever get a Wii, I'm sure it will go there too

Where to put my pc has been just the issue I've been dealing with this week. The kid's consoles have always been up front on the tv and my pc in my room. Well I finally broke down and hooked up 5.1 speakers to the pc, wow! Problem is that I've got no good place to put the rear ones, no matter where they're gonna be hanging out in the middle of the room. Agravating the hell out of my girlfriend with their wires. I've never considered the living room as an option, too open to little prying hands and I'd be more likely to have constant interruptions there. This weekend has been designated to rearrange and organize, oh the joy.
