The new 48-hour madness is up at GoGamer.com with some nice PC game deals. Highlights:

Baldur's Gate 2 Collection: $7.90
Tribes Vengeance: $2.90
Just Cause: $9.90
Icewind Dale 2: $4.90
Psychonauts: $5.90 (not quite as good as the $4.90 deal from a few weeks ago, but still a great price)

It's hard to resist picking up Baldur's Gate 2 again with the expansion I never got around to playing AND Icewind Dale 2 for just over $15 shipped.

Psychonauts is best played on the PC, in my opinion, and it's worth $6 a dozen times over if you like Platform/Adventure games.

Holy crap, those games are all an absolute steal at that price.

Absolutely everyone should buy Psychonauts. It's an absolute travesty how that game wasn't profitable. Those other deals are pretty amazing as well. It looks like Just Cause was a massive flop seeing as how it hasn't been out long, but after playing it on the 360 I'm not surprised. I just wish GoGamer would get with the rest of the universe and ship to Canada.

If it was for the 360, I'd be on it like dirty colors on dirty things. But, the soon-to-be-Mrs. has the computer on lockdown since... well, it's hers that has a functional graphics card. Drat.

It appears Double Fine managed to continue with a new project, though, so I'm happy.

And if I haven't seen further, it's because those bloody giants blocked my sight.

I read an interview with Tim Schafer where he was asked if the commercial failure of Psychonauts poisoned the well for them, and he said that actually publishers have been very open to dealing with them. According to him, the overall feeling in the industry seems to more or less line up with the sentiments that have been expressed around here: that Psychonauts was a great game that was marketed poorly.

I'm playing Psychonauts right now, and it's absolute brilliance on a disc.

That game is genious.

They also have Bard's Tale on sale for $5. I haven't played it, but I have been interested in getting it. So can anyone tell me if it's worth $5 +s/h?

I got Psychonauts on Steam for $20 (IIRC) when it first popped up there, and I thought it was a steal at $20.

If you haven't already, play this game.

From the little I played, no.

I could never get into the Baldur's Gate series (on PC) or Icewind Dale. It's a shame too since I hear they are incredible.

I'm still a little mixed on Psychonauts. Some of the levels are incredibly good, but they mix it with a few mediocre and a couple of downright bad ones. And the art direction was often unappealing. It has a very distinctive look... I just, very frequently, didn't like it.

I'll tell ya, though, the Milkman Conspiracy is worth $5.90 all by itself. Buy this game.

It was a bad port, but I'd certainly pay $5 for the chuckles.

Thread Resurrection!

GoGamer.com is having another 48-Hour Madness sale with Psychonauts at a mere $4.90 this time. I am ashamed to say that I still haven't played this game yet. I may jump on this deal but I don't feel right about purchasing a PC gamepad just for this.

I know, I know. Gamercard --> shredder

Additionally, they have Company of Heroes (DVD) for $24.90.

If Psychonauts is so great in the game community- why is it on deep discount many times, why is it easy to find, and why are people just picking it up now?

I've spent several hours trying to get one of my wireless controllers + charging cable to work on my PC. This was before they created the Wireless Receiver.

I'm feeling all soft and gooey for Psychonauts and IWD2 again. Those games will never leave my hard drive.

If you're a hack n slasher, Icewind Dale 2 is the best of the Interplay D&D games, and its a complete blast to play in a co-op group. For under $5 I might have to get a few copies for some friends...

If anybody wants to get a game going, I'd be up for it.

Is Psychonauts better played on a PC or on the 360 via the BC? I picked it up for the 360 BC but haven't played it yet. If it's better played on a PC (differences?) then I'll make the swap.

BTW, Psychonauts is back to $4.90, even though this post is from a 48HM sale back in January. Unfortunately none of the others are on there this time, I'd love to pickup BG2 for a cheapo price.

Do you want it right, or do you want it right now?

Because many people aren't initially interested in the concept and/or are turned off my the odd, cartoonish art style. Once you play the game, you'll understand what all the fuss is about!

As I understand it (and I admit that I could be wrong), the charging cable doesn't carry any control signals - just power to charge the battery back.

I think general consensus was that the Xbox was easily the better of the two available console versions but that the PC version trumped them both.

True. The only way to use a wireless 360 controller on a PC is to buy that MS receiver they released a while back, or just get a wired 360 controller to plug in.

I played Psychonauts with a wired controller and it worked great.

Yes, I realize that now. Originally I was just trying to point out that

A) I'm an idiot and that

B) I also don't have a wireless receiver or a wired controller with which to play Psychonauts on the PC.
