Quote:
The February 2007 issue of EGM (number 212) features a very in-depth look at all of the major titles coming in 2007. The article itself is a great read, but the best part is that some of these games haev been heretofore unannounced.

First up is a new entry in the Guitar Hero series. According to EGM, Guitar Hero: 1980s Edition is in production and will ship sometime in the Spring (presumably alongside Guitar Hero II for the Xbox 360). With the game only three to four months away (and still unannounced), EGM could only say "trust us; it's coming."

This type of targeted marketing for 360 DLC seems like a smart idea to me. I know my wife would have infinite more interest in GH if it had the "80's edition" or "country edition" tagline or offered such "themed" song packs through DLC.

seriously, though, I welcome such an expansion disc... hell, I listen to music from the last 25 years on my ipod, but the GH track-lists have always been somewhat spotty for me personally. The 80's was a huge bastion of hair-band guitar rock, and a selection of songs from its glittery bowels will certainly sell to gamers in their late 20s on up .

I have yet to be really impressed with the song selection for guitar hero. For the first 2 titles I've really only played the bonus songs. This news makes my brain hurt.

Bela Lugosi's Dead would be good. So would Out of Step, California Ueber Alles, Rock This Town, Mexican Radio, Rise Above, This Is Not A Photograph, Should I Stay or Should I Go?...Sigh. They probably will stick with Duran Duran and hair bands.

Hmmm. Maybe Viva Las Vegas by the DKs instead of California Ueber Alles.

There are so many great opportunities to discuss with music from the 80s, that I'm as excited by this as I was GH2.

And, Ulairi, I certainly understand your sentiment. I wish those fruity games where fuzzy animals jump on candy colored platforms you like so much would die, too.
