I hope they change out alot of those crappy songs from the PS2 version.
It sounds to me as though they're just adding to the list. All I need to hear that the controller is wireless to make it perfect. Either way, it shall be mine.
Rumors circulate that Iron Maiden's The Trooper will be on the list of new songs and Guitar Hero 1 songs may be downloadable on day 1 for 360 owners to catch up and enjoy.

If the original songs are available for download, then I may end up selling my copies for PS2.

I keep looking for a solid release date seeing as how the game is nearing release, but the best I can find is "sometime in March". Anybody hear anything more detailed then that?
This piece of info says the release date is March 1, 2007
Has a list of 8 of the 10 new songs too. Looks like The Trooper is on there too.

Looks like the controller is still wired tho. Oh well, they say they are working on a wireless one but no mention of whether it'll be done before release.

What would be the easiest way to preview the songs? I'd like to try the game but I want to be sure that there's some songs I could stand to hear more than once on there, and I don't recognize hardly any of them.
Any online music store will have song previews for these if you dont want to clutter your hard drive with 80 mp3 downloads. Many are probably on youtube/google video with the added bonus of getting to see the music video or a concert video along with it.

I have to admit, after much playing and careful evaluation of the rockingness of both games, GH2's official tracklist f*cking sucks.
GH1's first tier had The Ramones, Joan Jett and Deep Purple alone.
The rest of the songs on the other tiers are just Legendary: Iron Man, Queen, ZZ Top, Bowie. Hell, some great stuff I didn't know, like Helmet.
But GH2? 1st tier? Not ONE great song.
I mean, ok, WolfMother is kinda cool, I guess. Other than that? I always end up playing: SweetChildofMine > CarryOnMyWaywardSon>Freebird>Jessica>Beast&TheHarlot. That's it. Great songs, but out of the bunch of songs they have, that's a very low amount of songs that are playable + rocking + fun.
The rest of the tiers, I don't even remember.
Sometimes I venture into the bonus songs, such as Jordan (unfinishable in Expert so far), Thunderhorse and LessTalkMoreRokk.
The rest of the songs are really... Not bad, but not fun to play. Ok, some are downright CRAPPY.

Rumor a while back was that Microsoft standards are what killed the wireless guitar. Hope that's exactly what it was, but the pictures of the early 360 guitars have cords...

I have a friend who really likes War Pigs, more so than Iron Man. Me, I'm a fan of Carry On Wayward Son, Crazy On You, and YYZ. I tend to agree that the songlist in GH1 was better, but I can't agree that GH2's list just sucks.
Also, GH2 has Trogdor.

I agree that they dropped the ball with Tier 1. Mother and Surrender's covers are just bad, and that helps the whole Tier be underwhelming.
Personally, I think Tier 5 is an utter waste. The Rage cover is bad, Freya makes me want to gouge my eyes out, and the Primus and Thin Lizzy tracks make me wish for other songs (Jerry Was a Race Car Driver and The Boys are Back in Town, respectively). Last Child is the only fun track on that tier.
That being said, the rest of the list has generally grown on me.

I hope someone makes sometype of adapter for PS2 -> Xbox 360 for the guitar controllers. I already have 2 guitars from buying GH 1 & 2. However, I would definitely pickup a standalone version of the game though, just not another bundle.
Interesting how some of them are named after musicians: 13. Dimebag Darrell Award, 15. Yngwie Malmsteen Award, 44. Lennon & McCartney Award, 45. Page & Plant Award..
