It's January 6th, And It's 65F
Saturday, January 6th, 2007 - 1:26pm
This has officially been the weirdest, most backwards month of winter yet. Denver is getting absolutely buried, but here in Upstate NY, we're no longer wondering what wintertime in Florida must be like.
Has winter gone crazy for any of you?

I am thinking the same thing. I'm in South Jersey, the house windows are all open and we are airing out the house. It's so comfortable. I'm painting and spackling in my garage with the doors wide open, constantly returning to the thought... it just cant be winter.
It's got my yard-work schedule all confused. Should I lay down some pesticide cause winter sure isnt killing the bugs.... how about seeding my lawn, can I sneak it in though I missed my window in the fall.... and weeds... maybe I should lay down a layer of napalm in preparation.
I wonder if old man winter will send a late season blizzard or two through as payback.

Pfffft, you're going to have to pedal harder if you want to catch up. Currently it's 78 degrees where I'm at near the Florida/Georgia border.
But yeah, along the lines of a valid reply I'd have to say it's a bit suprising to only see a 13 degree spread between our locations.

See you in P&C, bitches!
Seriously, the Farmer's Almanac was forecasting a very mild winter in the NE. They seem to get it right far more often than they get it wrong.
I just need a few more weeks of it, until I move.

I've got blowing snow and its about 14°F.
This isn't terribly surprising. I remember reading an article back in late summer about the effects of El Nino. They predicted a dry Northwest, a wet Southwest and Midwest, and a warmer Northeast. We're way below on our snow (Wyoming). Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico have been hammered with winter weather, and the Southeast has been soaked. Once El Nino starts to die down (they are predicting Spring-ish), things should return more to normal for all regions.
It's near 70 in Boston. Unreal!

cool, Mateo is back too.
I am just outside Boston, and I too am basking in 69 degree sunny weather. Too bad I'm installing plumbing in my attic though.
69F and sunny here in Maryland. It's a pretty spring day... the sun is out, it's comfortably warm, the ground is wet from the rain last night... wait... it's still January isn't it?

We had a summ... err.. winter like this back in '95 I think.. it was 70 in January for a few days, then winter came back with a vengance. Who knows what is going to happen in the next 3 months.

We had snow on the ground in Seattle this morning, which is weird in itself.

Here in Fresno it's been surprisingly cold this past week. Then we had one massive day of rain, but it decided not to stay.

We've barely had any snow here this winter. Two small downfalls of snow in almost as many months. Really strange since last years winter was the coldest and had the most snow since '69.

January 6 is Twlefth Night (when the wise men arrive, ostensibly) and the official start of the Mardi Gras season. There are three parades rolling today: Alla at 3 in Gretna, Zeus at 7 in Metairie, and Phunny Phorty Phellows streetcar parade on the Canal Street line at 7. There will be Twelfth Night parties all over town. It would be even better if it wasn't so drizzly outside. We're going to Alla as soon as the children's naps are over. It's currently 69 degrees. Threat of thunderstorms might slow down our house move, but not our revelrous spirit. I love New Orleans.

We have been having temps in the 40's and 50' for the past couple of weeks in the Chicagoland area. We had maybe two or three weeks of "winter" this winter.

Sunny and 70 here in NC.
Spent the whole day helping my parents take stuff to the dump, move stuff to their temp residence, and clean. They're moving to their new house after they close on Feb 2.
Cartoonin, this means I won't be in your neighborhood anymore, so you can open your bedroom curtains again.

I'm here in Rural MA as well, and the only thing that kept me from getting on my bike was the occasional rain. We opened the windows all day. Broke 70 on the back porch.

I had the ac on last night and a fan. It's got to be in the 70's here.
Tucson has always been relatively warm, though it dips pretty low at night. My "cold" outfit is: Jeans, T-Shirt and a basic Windbreaker. I haven't needed anything heavier for the past 10 years. Something else funny that I noticed the other day is that my 360 manages to keep my entire room warm, in fact it gets too hot in here after a couple hours of playing it.

Leave? Yeah, I guess I do that, but I'm usually too tired or too drunk to really notice what I'm walking in. I hear it's nice.
Ok, I'm kidding. I had some friends from Poland in town today, and I walked them all over the touristy stuff. It was a beautiful day downtown here. But then, Chicago is a beautiful town.
