Can't make it 'till 9:00 or so. I suggest we try the OGR (Original Ghost Recon) co-op rules, since that allows respawn. This game can be pretty unforgiving.

I'm in. Installed and patched to 1.35 with the map pack (I think). I messed with it briefly last PM and walked through the first mission (sort of).

I'm kinda ready to go ... I think ... ?

I have it installed but not patched. Will patch when I get home tonight.

It is our maiden voyage into GRAW, so I expect some hiccups.

Meet in the SWAT 4 channel on TS, in case there are 360 GRAW's playing in the other channel.

Oh crumbs, I'm all thumbs laying here with you. You're beautiful and busty and I'm a little rusty - I've forgotten what to do...

Too late for me on a work night. Let me know if you guys have a pick up game later in the week.

What is the deal with GWJ TS nowadays? I tried unsuccessfully to connect using the info from the TS FAQ. Has the info changed?

It's been displaying a "This server will be going away shortly" message for some time.

Well that sucks.

You guys got Ventrilo? I invited a buddy from work to play tonight, and he rents a Vent server.

There's a GWJ Vent server. We should just use that.

I am patched and ready. I'm currently in GWJ Vent in the BF2 channel.

I actually didn't realize we have a Vent server... it just didn't even register with me. Forget TS, Vent is far better. Let that be our standard from here on out.

See you there!

What's the info for the GWJ Vent server?

Does this game punish TKs? I may have to experiment.

Good times last night.

Wish I could've stuck around later, but it was all worth it to TK ragin'.

Ok. So not too bad. GameSpy issues occurred, of course; it would be news if we didn't have GameSpy issues.

Slick's Dedicated Server handled the load no problem, plus it was one of the few servers out there running the 1.35 version.

The game play was not too bad. Coop was good plus respawn on leader was a nice little option for team mates. The key is keeping the leader alive. The 15 minute limit on completing objectives did have me a little perplexed. Do you adjust the time up and basically walk the map until you decide to focus on the objective or do you leave the time short so that the team is focused and having to work for the goal?

Over all, I liked it. I have some system tweaking to do on my side to deal with the vent disconnects and system locks that were killing me last PM. Once I figure those out, we should be good to go.

I'm Ok with switching to Vent. Too bad about the loss of the GWJ TS Server.

Yeah, it was my first serious session with Vent running. It sounded great and was really stable for me, much better than the TS/BF2 combination, for example.

Slick kicks ass for getting the dedicated server up and running. 15 minutes felt a little too short for co-op, like it kind of short-circuits the slow and deliberate nature of the GRAW gameplay. I felt like we were moving pretty fast on Mayday and we still could only barely make it to the vicinity of the objective. 20 minutes might be a better time limit, or maybe a little more. What do you guys think?

We won't talk about the promise of 'services' you offered to Slick for the creation of the server.

Slick, can you leave the server up for me either tonight or Friday so I can hammer out my connection & system issues?

I'm very impressed so far with the game. It was almost like SWAT but on a much larger scale. Bigger maps, bigger guns, etc. I have to tell you that there were a couple of times where I was really getting tense when they were shooting at us and hitting the walls. The bullets flying, the RPG's... good stuff.

And yes... Ventrilo blows the doors of TS. It is a resource hog though. You can actually watch pings fluctuate as people talk.

IMHO, the maps are large enough for 30 mins. Depending on how many people we get, we should split into squads and just move out as tactically as possible. For me, that would really be a fun thing to do. Run and gun is fun, but I enjoy the tactical aspect of it all.

Looking forward to next week.

Watching the bad guy tear up the ground with a .30 cal while Slick was working the angle with his big ol' sniper rifle and hoping to hell he got the shot right on the first try was pretty fun. The final map, with the tunnel, caught my attention when I was the last guy standing and managed to take out the RPG guy, three regular infantry and a couple of militia guys before the rest of the squads caught up was my moment. I enjoyed the hell out of it.

NOTE: It really, really helped having Podunk and Ragin on Vent to work us through the newbie stuff. I need to get some of my mouse buttons mapped and maybe figure out a better way to handle the weapon swapping.

Fair enough. I wonder if we can get a counter going on the hud that shows time remaining on the mission objective?

And yeah, I'm with you on the game, CC. I wanted it at launch but held off based on complaints of technical problems from the few GWJers who did pick it up. Now that it's been thoroughly patched, I feel like its a pretty damn good game. As far as tactical shooters go, GRAW and SWAT 4 have different strengths but I do enjoy how GRAW doesn't punish you for shooting first and asking questions later.

There were definitely some cool moments last night. There was one spot in particular when Ragin' and I had cleared out the rebels near the wrecked helicopter and were running from building to building to support Alpha team. We could see Alpha under heavy fire, scattered along a rise with bullets tearing up the turf nearby. The Vent chatter was all about an enemy sniper, and Slick was maneuvering to get an angle with his own sniper rifle. As Ragin' and I pulled up to the corner of a nearby building, I saw CC (I think) crouched on the rise directly across from me. He poked his head up a little too far and took a sniper round to the face, sprawling violently back into the pathway behind him. Totally intense.

30 minutes sounds like a good time limit to me.

No worries. CC offered to fill in for you.

Will do. Message me on Xfire and I'll join ya.

30 minutes for the round timer sounds good. The 15 min setting was just a guess since the default is 10 min. I just didn't want to restart the server at the time to fix it.

If anyone knows about a remote admin program that we could use for GRAW, let me know. I haven't had any luck in my search.

There isn't one according to this thread @ ghostrecon.net

The only way to do it is via ingame command line/ console.

I downloaded and installed most of those custom maps, just in case we want to take one for a spin.
