New video card but I'm in a retro games craze
I just bought a new Gforce 7600 to finally play Oblivion properly, but after seeing it and saying "wow" I decided I was still bored of it. The other one to get into is Gothic 3 but I'm putting off that epic ordeal for now.
The retro phase started when I found my long lost Simgolf CD in the Lego box which wasn't the best place to put it. After building a few courses I started scouring the web for other old favourites, as well as ones I never played. There are heaps of fun little DOS diversions thanks to Dosbox, and the original Legacy of Kain is pretty sweet with a gamepad.
But the real gem is Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe. A few years ago my housemate & I spent countless hours playing the original Transport Tycoon together on an old 486 someone gave us out of pity.
The OTTD guys reverse-engineering TTD and re-wrote it C++. It uses the original TTD graphics but at high resolution, so you need the original game installed. OTTD runs in a window at whatever res you want, and has heaps of new options and new AI. You can even leave it running in the background to accumulate money - I'm doing that right now - woohoo!

I've been in a similar way lately, though it'll be nice to have the horsepower when you finally need it. If you haven't already, you should check out GameTap. Retro gaming joy to be had there.

Parallax has gametap and after seeing it I'm definitely considering picking it up once my schedule becomes a little more routine. It looks like there's tons of great content there.

I'm on a retro kick lately, too. For, like, the last year or so.
For instance, just bought Theme Park from CDAccess, I really liked that one back in the day.

I have Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe and the original Sam & Max (which I haven't played) on floppy disks from a trade I did with a LucasArts dude years back. Need to convert those to non-magnetic media Real Soon Now...
Oh, and Myth, dammit! Vrikk never got to see the splendiforous awesomeness of it, something about it not running on XP *evar*.
RIP ChronicNecrosis
Myth, now that was a great game. Those grenade lopping dwarves, and then the gibs, oww the sweet gibs. Doesn't DosBox do the trick for that? I would surely revisit it.
I don't watch, I interact!
Soulblighter seemed to run OK through XP. I never played the original Myth nor the abortion that was Myth 3...

I recently played Toonstruck, but apart from that I play fairly new releases since I upgraded the ole comp.
