Looks like from the message that I got from logging in yesterday that today is the day. Servers are down from 1AM PST to 1PM PST. Expect it to be a complete disaster considering all the new stuff in the patch and the size of the damn thing!

Patch Notes for 2.0.1

I have to admit, it was smart of them to pre-load the patch onto people's systems. The patch was 492MB, and when I pulled it up this morning I only had the last 2MB left to download.

I still have the whole thing to download, but I use Fileplanet, so I am not worried. But yes it is going to be a cluster f@ck with all the new content. The good news is I will be able to use my new talent skills against the 4 demons I need to kill for my Epic bow.

Yeah with all the new Druid talents I have no idea how I am going to respec. And I hope I have most of the 0.5 gig patch downloaded or else it will be a long night.

Meh... I can't say I'm real excited about the respec. It's more of a nerf to me than a buff.

Stupid Elemental Precision nerf...

I guess I better start working through the calculator to choose what I'm sticking with, and what I'm dropping.

Edit: Though I don't know if having the water elemental will make up for the nerf to elemental precision. Right now I'm stuck between what I was spec'd at, or dropping Elemental Precision, Permafrost, and Arcane Subtlety, so I can go with this spec. The water elemental very well make me more powerful than I was with the talents that decreased the mob's resistances, but I'm worried it'll turn me into a 3 minute frost mage.

I'm looking forward to this patch. While I'm not exactly sure how the change to rage generation is supposed to work, I'm pretty sure most of the outrage (no pun intended) is mostly just WoW forum drama. Much like the weapon speed normalization change, it will probably only affect about 5% of your total potential damage.

I still did not like the weapon normalization thing, because I took a *big* hit in DPS output with my bow. But I am over it now.

I'm all patched up and ready to go, though I don't know if I'll get on tonight when the servers come up.

I'm comming back after a 2 month absence. If you know me you know I pvp more than anything and I knew I didn't have time to rank up with the patch comming. Now that it's here, time to earn that rank 14 gear. If your a pvper give me a shout (lookin at you Donan) and we'll group up.

PS: Really looking forward to the new LFG tool. Pugs will still be 99% tarded, but at least you'll be able to find people without spaming in LookingForGroup channel every minute.

Anyone know a site with a 41 point talent calculator? The official site and Thottbot both have the old one.

Edit: Nevermind. They're here in the Burning Crusade info screens

That's what I was noticing, very different. Of course it makes it even more tempting to pour all your points into one tree, since some of the 35+ point talents are pretty awesome!

wowhead.com has the best talent calculators, imho. They have both, and they load fast.

Here's what I'm thinking of going with. Keep in mind that I'm only 49 right now, but my plan is to go for the 41-point talent first (meaning I need to hit level 50 to get it), and then to do the few points in the other trees.

Any thoughts? Be gentle.

Great. Their having unexpected pre patch problems and now ETA of Server's is 5pm PST. Talk about a crammed time for upgrade. I was home early today to try and avoid the overload. Guess that plan didn't work out:>)

It was so hard going back to playing a hunter without the auto attack changes during the beta.

Hunters play really nice now.

I wonder if these changes include the massive changes to agility and ranged attack power that are planned? I saw that 1 agi = 1 rap but I didnt see anywhere the change that ranged items are going to have their dps increased and the ranged hunter skills were going to be increased in damage and cost more mana.

Notably, Druids are in an uproar b/c they did not get some of the talents that they were expecting.

I logged in this morning, to see a few of the changes, and to test out the water elemental. After a quick fight (which is all I got in before the server restart), I can say that the water elemental does add a significant amount of firepower, but it will only be of great help in a tough fight that would take longer than 45 seconds without it. Against easier foes, it's not worth the trouble, unless you're AoE'ing. I can see this being worth it in boss fights, just for it's extra frostbolt DPS alone.

There were a few interface changes that I'm actually quite happy about. Here's some screenshots:

Just nice to have your chances to crit laid out for you.

This was an extremely nice change for us healers/casters.

I remember when I first became a private, I wished there was a way to only display my name, without my title. Seems my wish came true without even asking. Most of the time, I probably won't bother showing my title.

And, again, just a nice little display of what it does for me.

Hopefully I'll be able to check out some of the changes with my other characters tonight, if they ever get the servers running right.

I know there will be new titles for the arena ranks but, given the new honor system, is it ever possible to earn the old titles again? If not, they're kind of "limited edition" now in that if you made rank 14, you can show your title and everyone will know you were "OG" and did it the hard way.

Can anyone recommend a mod that provides stackable, movable toolbars? I've been using BibMod for so long I've forgotten what else is out there, and I don't think BibMod is going to be updated wit the new patch. I'm drowning here!

Actually, I read up on the FAQ about this after you posted, and the answer is... No. It's not possible anymore. You can earn titles based on getting exalted with factions, but that's it as far as the BG's are concerned now. I guess it's a good thing rep didn't get reset. Here's what it says in the FAQ:

Quote:
What will happen to my current battleground reputations, honor, and rank?
A new title system will display your highest rank achieved under the old honor system, but ranks will no longer play a part in the new honor system. The battleground reputations will carry over to the new system, and still be visible and increase through participation in the various battlegrounds, but the current rewards are now only available through the new honor system. However, you will be able to obtain a special title if you obtain exalted reputation with each battleground faction. This title may be displayed through the new title display system.

The auto-autoshoot switching takes some getting used to. I keep toggling it off on accident.

Im thinking I'll like the new honor system. Honor points as currency lets me pick and choose the interesting bits of armor, etc that I want. I'll have to check and see how many points my 2 Warsong wins and 69 kills was worth to see just how long it would take to earn some of the better stuff.

I definately like laying traps in combat. Being able to intercept a flag runner or defend a flag runner by dropping the frost trap no matter who might decide to target me is a big boon to my side. Outside of PVP, its fun to drop the explosive trap when I've pulled the aggro off my pet. Freeze trap on the fly in a situation where I get an unwanted add is a thing of beauty.

Improved Hunter's Mark now adds a percentage to melee attack power as well, so my pet, or members of a party attacking the marked mob will hit it harder. Nice.

they must not have implemented the new faction ranks because when I displayed my Honor rank (only Knight) I didn't have another choose like I should have, since I am +1000 Exalted with Stormpike.

BTW: Hunters You can now tame the snakes from ZF and ZG. I went to ZG last night and got one of the Adders. Poison Spit rank 3 FTW!
