In case you've thought there should be some PS3 Loverade
Sunday, November 26th, 2006 - 11:07pm
I figured we should be fair and balanced in these forums, so this thread just had to be created.
I'll start...
It's quiet.

I'll be happy to give the PS3 some love once a few games I like come out for it
Give it a year, then we'll see. I suspect by then there will some great titles out for it.
It has wifi built in?
There is no other platform that can get a Twisted Metal, War of the Monsters, or Downhill Domination sequel.

It will eventually have SOCOM, and hopefully one that learns from the mistakes of SOCOM III and goes back to more close-quarters design.

I forget, was there a Twisted Metal game since Black? And wasn't that a PS2 launch title?
NOTE: This is not a doodle bug.
Spore
There was one for the PSP, but that doesn't really count.

And don't forget that it was Sony studio that has created Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. That fact alone means that there is some light at the end of the PS3 tunnel.
It's not Wandering Toast. Except in TF2, where it usually is.
I'll be picking one up when Lair and Heavenly Sword ship in March. And lets not forget that FFXIII will be on PS3 as well. Of course no idea if it'll be exclusive to the system.

Alliance -- Blackhand - Alydrra (70 Feral Druid), Talyrra (47 Elemental Fire/Frost)
There was a Twisted Metal game on PSP, if that counts. And no, TM:B was a 2nd generation PS2 title, out approximately a year after launch. It's what sold me a PS2.

From the haterade Thread:
We are getting well on the way. They even have Windows XP now running on the machine. http://www.gadgetell.com/2006/11/run-windows-xp-on-your-ps3/
So add some loverade because of it's open OS.
I don't watch, I interact!
Hmm, well, hmm. I'm trying to come up with something. This may take awhile.
It looks nice and expensive in the 5 non-functioning display cases I saw over the weekend.

I love the Gran Turismo franchise, but 4 was a bit of a letdown, and GTHD looks like a complete scam job.
Hopefully we'll see a true GT5 at some point, and it'll be another GT3, rather than another GT4. That would be awesome.
And hey, am I the only person who misses 989 Sports' NFL Gameday franchise? Wouldn't it rock for that to make a return on the PS3?
It will probably have a Sly Cooper game at some point.

PS3 and Gran Turismo 2 share a lot in common. They both were only 98.2% complete.

I'm not buying an expensive next-gen console, but if I was the PS3 would be one of the two I'd be choosing between. That's kind of positive, right?
I can't and won't spend $600 on a PS3. But when the price goes down to something more reasonable, I will probably pick up a PS3, particularly if and when my favorite platformer franchises - Sly Cooper, Jak & Daxter, Rachet & Clank - migrate over to the new system. Plus, the Playstation has typically featured the best RPGs, particularly ones by Square Enix (Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Star Ocean, etc.).
In the end, it's all about the games. The PlayStation has always had the most amount of fantastic games, and I see no reason to expect that to change in the future.

I'm just waiting for the next-gen installment of the Socom series and possibly MGS:4 but until then, the PS3 won't be on my radar.

The controller is light!.....and doesn't rumble.
I swore that this generation would be the time I get a Playstation. There are way too many games for the PS2 I haven't played. But yet here I am with a 360 and a Wii is on the way.

I, too, saw a non-functioning display unit this weekend. At a Target, I saw one that was totally frozen on the menu screen (the one that looks like the PSP's GUI). Totally non-responsive.

Wrong thread!
Here's some loverade: if someone offered me a PS3 for $50, I would totally buy it.

Only the more expensive version. It has a larger hard drive, wi-fi, an extra pair of USB ports, and built-in card reader over the cheaper one. Since you'll be able to plug in a USB card reader and upgrade the hard drive yourself (unlike the 360, it's both documented and supported), abilities tied to the wi-fi are really the biggest long-term difference right now. That and the bling around the disc slot (which I find to be rather ugly).

Hey it runs Windows XP, its gotta be good right? You can probably play Dwarf Fortress on it now!
Oh wait, maybe you could do that under Linux already....
But details aside...
Dwarf Fortress on a Nex Gen Console! How cool is that.
