Railroad Tycoon Deluxe released for free....

Railroad Tycoon Deluxe has been released for free here. This is a Windows installer with a nicely packaged DOSBox, all preconfigured to run from the Start menu. Seems to work fine, but if you're using Data Execution Prevention by default, be sure to exclude DOSBox, or it won't run. It still has the copy protection question-answered-by-the-manual thing, but they include the original manuals and a quickie cheat sheet.

The game is appallingly primitive by modern standards... and this was the ENHANCED version with better graphics and sound. But it's still a good game, as you'll find if you stick with it awhile.

Makes me think they must not be selling as many copies of Railroads as they expected, and they're trying to remind folks why the old game was good. I haven't bought the new one yet... wasn't terribly impressed with the demo. Maybe in the doldrums after the holidays I'll pick it up.

*cough*

hee hee...

Railroads definitely has that "fun factor".
