November 6 - 10

This is the week you've waited for all year!

Whoa, see what I did there? Bolded it all up for you, because if there's a week that demands bolding this is it. You might literally die from gaming overload this week. I mean, let's just look at the games this week: Guitar Hero II, Call of Duty 3, Viva Piñata, Tony Hawk Project 8, Gears of War, Final Fantasy V Advance and more. If you look at the list this week and can't find anything that interests you, then pack up whatever gaming gear you own and toss it right in the garbage, because you just won't be needing it anymore.

Still, there can be only one. Game of the Week? Easy. Guitar Hero II.

What's on DVD, you ask. Why could you possibly care? Did you not see what games are coming out? Are you suggesting that your entire free-time will not be spent playing games this week? Crazy. Anyway, there's not much to get excited about. Check it out.

I love this time of year for gaming, and yet it hurts so much. I don't know how I'm going to afford all these great games AND the Wii during this holiday season.

Hell, I missed the preorder window, I might never find one.

Yeah... since the last week of October, I've known the TIME OF PAIN was upon us.

I'm still going nuts on FFXII and enjoying my progress in WoW, but I'll be taking breaks for Guitar Hero 2 as well.

Man... this time of year is insane.

I'm thinking I might grab Elite Beat Agents. On the DVD side, Men MANLY MEN in Tights. The family friendly version on ABC Family just doesn't cut it. And maybe Cars. I own every Pixar movie so I'll keep it going. At least it has that short with the little girl and the street musicians.

You know the kicker for me? I close on a house on Friday, pack Saturday, and move Sunday. Xbox 360 connected shortly after that. People better still be playing Gears of War by then.

Damn real life getting in the way of my gaming.

I know my EB has GH2 in and waiting for me tomorrow. I'm hoping that the same goes for Gears of War. How the hell am I supposed to work all week this week? I've got WAY too much gaming to do.

Oh, and you know what else? Screw college. Screw college right in its ass for not giving me the time or funds to buy these delicious games. If I have the means to beat FF XII before Christmas I'll be surprised beyond belief. But pick up Guitar Hero II? Yoshi's Island 2? Gears of War? Beat the crap out of pinatas? Damn it, no!

That's not terribly uncommon in the week ahead of a launch. In fact, the week before release is often the best time to buy a new system's games.

Let me just point out, for those of you who care, a PC game called The Fifth Disciple. It is actually quite an interesting combination of RPG and adventure in Sierra's Quest for Glory vein. Original Czech version came out here two years ago, which makes for a bit dated graphics, but if you are looking for an oldschool stuff with a good story that is somewhat different from the rest of the crowd, this could be your cup of tea. Especially with the budget price.

I already hear someone shouting "PLANT!", so let me just say I feel the patriotic duty to support Central Europe whenever possible. Central Europe for teh win! Personally (apart from Guitar Hero II) I am sooo looking forward to FFV Advance, whenever it hits European shores.

It's not Wandering Toast. Except in TF2, where it usually is.

As did I, a couple of weeks ago. Glorious Ebay.

I am so, so very glad that with this week's games, and the Wii just around the corner, that these are mostly console titles and that there are such things as rental services. I figure that actually buying everything I'd like to get my hands on this month would cost me near $800. As it is, I'm going to be hard pressed not to go on a spending spree this Wednesday.

I can't help but be iffy on Gears of War. If it releases with more than its fair share of bugs, lame writing, and bad voice acting, and a far too short single player campaign, I won't be terribly surprised. I just hope its presentation and gameplay can carry it, should that be the case. Of course, I'm hoping for the best, but I guess I've been burned on games like this enough to invest too much enthusiasm.

Am i the only person that doesn't really feel the need to spend any money on any of those games (even if i owned a 360)?

For me, the last 2 weeks were better, what with Dark Messiah, NWN 2, and Dark Crusade.

Perhaps it's because i'm in the UK and we don't get Call of Duty 3 until the end of this week and later - nov 24th on PS2.... but even so i've had my fill of WW2 games.

I think possibly the most interesting game on there is Viva pinata - even though it's trying to be a cash cow

Nope, it's always been the 14th. Maybe you're thinking of Star Trek Legacy which originally was supposed to come out this week but got pushed back two.

There seems to be a lot of "friend prices" there. I like that. If someone is trying to squeeze every nickel out of a sale selling to a stranger seems the way to go.
