For those wishing to sharpen their Elysium emulation skills

I found this over at Blues, I actually did better then expected (9/10) given my own inability to usually capture grammatical mistakes. I think I just process differently when reading versus writing or something *shrug*.
All and all I liked the mad shark game better but only because the divers could keep stabbing me with half their body

Did Samurai Jack ever get back to the past?

Damn my constant misuse of the subjunctive. I screw it up every time.
9/10

"I think Elysium has the right of it" - Certis
I got 6 out of 10. I usually get by my lack of grammatical skills by changing the sentence, therefore I have a hard time when all I''m given is a blank to fill in. Plus I suck at this stuff.
what
"Poor Eli Nooo... *child starts crying*"
"Come on now, there's no need to make that kind of noise. It sounds awful and you'll upset other people." - Ionae from Spirit Engine 2
I got nine out of ten. That last one got me.
Damn, them! Damn, then and they''re mocking of, my grammar?
Certis beat me to it. - Elysium
If I were to tell you about the subjunctive mood, I would have to stare at that bouncing phallic wonder you call an avatar for far longer than is healthy.
It''s talking about the subjunctive form of a verb. Meaning, despite not changing the tense of a sentence, there''s a difference between:
It is true...
and
I wish it were true ...
edit:(actually using the verb ''be'' in this case is a little tricky since ''were'' is the subjunctive in all tenses. In other words ''I wish it were true...'' and ''I wished it were true...'' are both correct. This is not the case for most other verbs in the subjunctive. More info here if you care.)
"I think Elysium has the right of it" - Certis
Six out of ten.
Me fail English? That''s unpossible.

I so badly just want to reply with ""what"" to see if you''ll try to explain it further. However, thanks.

7/10 no big surprise. My grammar is awful and my grammpar is just as bad.
Edit: Crap a spelling error. LOL

Using Prayer To Microevolve Latent Antibiotic Resistance In Bacteria since 2005!

Certainly surprising to me: 10 out of 10. And I''m not frickin'' kidding you.

whenever I see the word irregardless I always think of Ben Affleck on SNL when he played the loser Boston older guy hanging with the h.s. kids. Someone said something to him and he yelled ""IRREGAHDLESS!"".
So, I use that all the time now just for the sheer fun of it.
7/10 and only because you guys warned about the last one.

Spunior, the sad thing is that since English is your second language (assuming), you were probably taught better than all of us native speakers.
6/10 for me.
And here I thought my post implying the subjunctive mood, whilst talking about the subjunctive mood was wit itself.

Money can't buy you happiness...but it can buy you a boat big enough to sell right up next to it!-David Lee Roth
8 out of 10. I got the last one on my own, I missed the same one as Pyro, and apparently I don''t know how to touch things, because I do it badly.
I disagree with what you say, and I will deny, to your death, you're right to say it. - Bucky Katt
Well, there were one or two things where I actually wasn''t 100% sure. But not being a native English speaker can indeed make a few things easier because when you''re learning a language you''re also being pointed at the standard mistakes that are typcial for it.
And some mistakes seem downright strange when you''re looking from the ''outside''. I never understood where that ""could of/could have"" mistake comes from. It wouldn''t happen to me because it''s structure wouldn''t make sense to me when constructing a statement. It''s a really odd one and definitely appears to be ''pronunciation-induced'' because I see that quite often and in almost every case it was made by someone who is a native English speaker.
Oh well, I''m not exactly cheering here, my English isn''t as good as the score there indicates.
Pick a random post and you''ll find something that is incorrect or inappropriate. And Certis, Elysium or hoochie have the ''fun task'' to check my reviews before they go online.
10. I guess I can thank my parents for sending me to Catholic elementary school... err maybe I shouldn''t go that far
WAR: Coda, Archmage, Vortex <Unguilded>
9/10. I always mess up the ''... and I'' vs. ''... and me'' thing.
Not bad considering how long its been since I actively thought about grammar.

- Aldous Huxley
9/10 I second guessed myself on the I feel bad/badly one.
7 out of 10 and I write for a living, yikes!
I'm bringing sexy back!
Yeah Spun, you''re right about ""could of/have"". I *know* ""could have"" is correct and when I write that is how I write, but when I speak I say ""could of"" a lot. I think it comes from ""could''ve"" as in ""could have"" is pronounced very similarly to ""could of"" and that''s how it came into use.
10/10. Suck it down.
Hmm... seems weird to fling that particular epithet when discussing grammar performance. Bah... suck it down.
"THE HELL ASS BALLS." - Prederick, expressing frustration in the time-honored way.
10/10!
BOO-YAH!!!
Eat that, Elysium! Guess you''ll have to change your column name to ""Almost Maximum Verbosity"".
9/10. I apparently know correct and incorrect use when I see it (most of the time), but if it''s up to me to use correct English without multiple choice - forget it.
9/10 - and I feel badly that I didn''t get a perfect score.
Reagan understood that the key to peace was never arms control. Security had nothing to do with the number of weapons, it had everything to do with the intention and power of those who possessed them. - Charles Krauthammer
I''m a perfectionist, so I''d be kicking myself if I hadn''t gotten a 10. Not to mention my degree was in English Lit (not truly grammar, but still...)
If English Lit isn''t a grammar major, what is?
You left the period off your last sentence.

No! No! Caught with my grammatical pants down! Grrrrrr.....
