WoW: AV weekend coming...Copingsaw' rdy to herd the...

...all us 50 youngin's on their first venture into Alterac Valley. We've tried getting togther for Battlegrounds (BG) before, but hasn't worked well before and as noted this is a casual guild with working, busy folks and it's just hard coordinating a get together. Or, just frankly folks here just aren't that much interested. But if Copingsaw is up for it, to give us few 'newish' 50's who are interested a tour without getting ganked too much or having Cop' go into fit's of 'OMG, what are they doing now(!)' kinda of thing, I sure be grateful. As I've always said, it would be fun to do BG's with GWJ'ers. And in this case, as I understand it, small group's can go out and just do their own thing.

Okay, Who is going to be on Friday night (or Sunday night) and wants to hit up AV and get a taste of what its like to win in a battleground? Thats right, all you low 50's out there who are sick and tired of getting your ass handed to you on a silver platter in AB and WSG, this is your chance to turn the tables. Not only can you lay some serious hurt down on the Horde war machine, but its a relatively easy road to reach revered and even exalted status with Stormpike and get your grubby hands on some nice blue and purple gear.
I'm in!!! Either night is fine with me, with one caveat for Friday is that I can't get on till around 8pm (give or take) PST.---Thanks Copingsaw!

Count me in if it is on Sunday night. Friday night is not a good night for me usually.
I also have to set up ST part II for Thursday

Just a heads up for first timer's like me. From my reading (and understanding) you will want to travel to the actual entrance to pick up several quest's that will envolve doing things within the Battleground. One for a trinket that is useful for returning you to places within (including the main fortress); one for locating the mines and one for getting a good weapon if your side kills the opposing general. Probably more, but that's all I saw with a quick perusal.

I never picked up those quests and was granted the rewards when I finally made my way to the actual AV entrance outside Southshore after achieving Revered status. It worked for me because my quest log has been full for the longest time. There are also several quests you can get inside AV from NPC's, most of which are useless but I think one or two offer some good xp and are fairly easy to complete.
The quests are excellent sources of rep and XP, especially at lower levels. I did it at level 51 on my hutner and I believe each gave roughly 6k in experience. Don't bother picking up the capture the mine quest though. With the changes to AV its become more of a strategic race of sorts and most times neither faction takes the mine.
Also, with the new cross-realm battlegrounds you can no longer join AV as a group. You'll need to individually join the queue at the same time to have the best chance of running in the same instance of the BG. Good luck and good hunting!

Thanks for the heads up Tony (and Copingsaw). I hope this thing about queueing up is wrong. Since cross-server I've brought folks in as a group in the other BG's. Now we may not be in the same sub raid group, but we are at least in the same BG. Maybe this is different because AV is bigger, longer and etc. But his could be a real pain for a group to get in together if someone (or all) are left behind. I've not checked yet, but how many AV's are there usually going at one time?

If you are looking to do the quests just take a group along, the mines take very little time to actually capture (essentially you sneak in and kill the boss and the mines flip to your side) and can honestly be done with 2 level 50s capable of stealthing (hell Snood could probably solo it with a good health potion supply and some buffs)
"Also, I have four legs and am covered in wool. Baa!" *Legion* reveals his inner furry.
I've done it solo with Rackage at level 60 (using a heal pot). Its hard if you can't stealth though.

So is this still a go? I only see maybe a couple folks responding. And Sunday for Mayfield. I may peek in Friday night and if Copingsaw is on I might see if he's willing to take me and any other's that are interested for an impromptu peek. Still do it Sunday too (I'm sure one run will be so, '...Ohhh, ahhhh...' that I will be 'zoning' to much to take it in:>) Anyway it takes me awhile to get my bearings.
Btw, I've read one place that you have to call out and ask to be invited to a raid. In another place it say's you automatically are placed. (I'm thinking the later is the more up-to-date). Can someone verify?-Thanks

I have had some real life stuff pop up that will prevent me from being on much of Sunday night and possibly Friday night also. I will probably be on Friday night late for a little bit. If I'm on, message me and we'll hit it.
You might want to run this next weekend as well. AV will be the "Call to Arms" BG holiday then. Double rep and honor is always a good thing.

Thanks again Tony! Yep, 'CtA' weekend is why I'm eager to give it a go. I plan on sticking my nose in it sometime tonight and hope for the best:>) Got all the Quest's from outside too (tho' all red! so I'm wondering...)
