Wow, games have really changed.

Speaking of Doom, I just ordered a new system for playing Doom 3 and Half Life 2 mainly.

Fool! Don''t you know that by the 2006 release dates of those titles, your system will be obsolete and good for nothing but downloading porn and smashing kittens?

Yeah those were the days where you could run at lightspeed through a level and gun down your opponents in MP. I wish there would be a game again that does not care about realism, but fun.

The days before triggers where the devs had to time their music to the running down long corridors and the opening of doors. Ahhhh those were the days....
Men were men then!! And Big f****ing guns filled up best part of a screen.
Back then we had the freedom to telefrag our enemies in green cloud of pixels within the safety of our own homes.

How I miss being an unjaded gamer. So pure, so unsullied. ;p

Back in my day we had 15 fps and we liked it.

We had to walk up hill to frag our enemies.

Really we just had a couple joysticks, and stared at a blank screen making, ""Ping, Ping"" sounds.

The good old days of shooting unidetifyable brown monsters. What the hell were those things anyway? They looked like brown, hairless wookies?

I remember thinking that having to use a keyboard and mouse for Quake was the dumbest thing ever. Took me a good long time to become comfortable too. And at that time I had no idea what a frame rate was. An I was still happy just the same. Wow, ignorance really can be bliss.

Believe it or not, we still played Quake with keyboard-only controls. It was Unreal that made me switch, but I got used to it within no time. (Never played past the third level of that game though.)
