Let me know when they make one that has at least half songs that I actually like and I'll jump right on it.

I'm totally underwhelmed by the songlist for GH II so far.

I hope they release a wireless controller to go with the X360/PS3 release. I don't want no guitar cords messing up my beautiful wireless world.

As for the songlist, haven't they only released about 2/3's of it?

Yeah they still have more unannounced songs, but what they've shown so far has been less than exciting.

You might be surprised how many of those songs you wouldn't normally be excited about turn out to be a blast to actually play through. I know I certainly was surprised in GH by the number of songs I was initially "ho-hum" about but wound up loving to play!

I just want the PS2 to USB adaptor to be recognized on the 360. I don't want to buy another guitar controller. I also hope GH2 for the PS2 will ship in both game-only and guitar controller bundles just in case I can't wait till 2007.

They interviewed one of the developers about the song list and what they were saying is that the songs they're using for the game are from famous bands but obscure, and good songs from these artists. The reasoning is so that we can be suprised and appreciate the songs even more than if it was an overplayed song from the same band.

There's a lot of merit in that. In an interview around last Xmas, one of the developers said they were adamant about getting Stairway into the orginal game's songlist. Then play testing revealed that it was really dull to play, so they axed it. I'm also largely underwhelmed by GH2's released list, but I never thought that Bark at the Moon, Cowboys From Hell, Ace of Spades, Ziggy Stardust, or Heart Full of Black would've been so damn fun to play either. In retrospect that sounds stupid, but still....

I did get to play all the way through the first one. Multiple times. Only one song that I disliked from the start earned it's way into my "fun to play" category, that being "Unsung" by Helmet.

The other songs that I didn't like before the game I still don't like. Typically, if I could skip them and still make it through to the next stage of the game ...I did.

The problem with 2 so far is that it doesn't look like there's enough songs I actually like to avoid being forced into playing the ones I don't. That's assuming they don't change some of the way the game works as far as singleplayer goes though. So maybe there's still hope.

It's gonna be a long time before I have a chance at owning a copy of the game anyway since my only console is and will remain the 360, so maybe things will change, or maybe the majority of the last third of unannounced songs will be ones that really make me want the game.

I'm not ruling it out. I'm just... skeptical. From what I've read, most of the bands I'd really love to see in the game wouldn't let the developers use their stuff in the game. That makes me sad

As for the "announcement" of this for X360, I've been telling people it would be coming on X360 since E3 when one of the Red Octante guys told me it would be coming to X360. This was probably the worst kept secret in the industry.

Anyway, my extreme excitement over GHII was immediately reduced to "meh" the second I saw the song list. Yes, it might only be 2/3's of the list but when only 2 or 3 songs of that money spark the faintest interest, I begin to doubt the remaining 10-15 unanounced songs will be that phenomenal. At this point, we're going to have buy new guitars for the X360 and it will probably cost $70 or so. Unless there ends up being some real hits in the unanounced "1/3" or promise of immediate song downloads for 100 gamer points apiece, I'll probably hold off for quite awhile.

Look, they can't make an all-start lineup for the game, and then release specialty packs with lesser songs. I think they'll have good, fun, relatively obscure songs in the first release, and some real standout anthems in the follow-ons. Otherwise, how would they sell them over the regular game?

So here's my question: Will Guitar Hero 1 be available on the 360? I've never even played - hell, even SEEN - Guitar Hero. I'd like to play the first one before the second. And no, I'm not going to buy a PS2.

I'm in the same situation as bagga and would like to play the first one on 360 (once I get one, anyway). With improvements to gameplay in Guitar Hero 2, I'd actually rather see the original Guitar Hero songs come with Guitar Hero 2 for the 360 version. Another option would be making them available for download.

Did Sony own the rights to a lot of the songs in the first release. I am just a casual radio listener these days. I hope there is still a lotta room for Microsoft picking up a good mix classic songs.

I didn't know about half the songs in Guitar Hero, and thought the others were lame (Killer queen? jeez).

But turns out most of them are great fun to play, even the indie band bonus songs (hell, I hadn't even heard of Zakk Wylde, or Spanish Castle Magic). I trust that these new songs will make me ROCK OUT WITH MY c*ck OUT, so have a little faith.

Also, I too ended up enjoying the "More than a feeling" song. It's quite relaxing ^_^

I don't think Sony owns ANY of the rights to the songs in the first release. If anyone has to worry about that sort of thing, it's RedOctane and Harmonix (and Activision and MTV, now), not Sony or Microsoft. I could be wrong though.
