Just because Kotaku annoys me, here is a link to Gamespot with the same story.

I'd love to get one on launch day.
edit:
Does anyone know if Amazon will have the Wii for pre-order? Have they had other consoles for pre-order before?
My two main options for buying it in the US are Amazon or going to a Best Buy/Circuit City store. And something tells me I won't be able to walk in a Best Buy and find a Wii during the first months.
Interesting information all around. I'm surprised the console costs this much... no, no I'm not.
The Wii comes with the Opera web browser - point and click TV surfing?!? Not in 480p we aren't.
Nice
We shall grapple with the ineffable, and see if we may not eff it after all.

According to this there will be a Call of Duty 3 release for the Wii. I don't know if this was known already but I wasn't aware of it.
Awesome news. So is November 19th a global date or just for the US? Furthermore I hope they don't do the special console exchange rate where $250 = £250, if not then it's quite the little bargain! Might wait it out to gauge reactions though.
I was kinda hoping for a lower price. I was also thinking that they would bundle the controller and nunchuck together, but if you want anymore besides the one that comes with the console you gotta dish out sixty bucks. I wasn't really planning on getting this at launch so hopefully a price cut will come soon.

The only other date I've seen so far is for Japan: Dec 2. Check it out here
In Japan the price will be a tad lower, $212. I'm guessing you are in Europe, maybe you'll be lucky and they'll have it cheaper there too. Who knows.
Japan doesn't come with the bundled game. There is a lot of value here with the Wii Channel stuff, the browser, the photo suite, it's pretty sweet.

250 with the game is smart. When I saw the title of the thread with that price, I had a "Damn, have to wait for the price drop" moment. Since they are bundling a 50 dollar game that I wanted to get anyway, I'm right there on board. The Nunchuck/Wiimote as separate items sucks a little though.

What's the word on connectivity? Is it going to have built-in Wireless like was rumored? or am I going to have to buy a wireless module?

According to the wiki, wireless is indeed part of the Wii.

I'm suprised that its coming with a game. I cant remember the last time a launch console came bundled with a game.
According to Kotaku the last time that happened was with the SNES.

I'd rather have the system for $200 and pick my own game instead of getting the system and a game I don't want for $250.
The Wii release would be a good time for Microsoft to do a price drop for the 360. With the Wii at $250 I'd certainly get the 360 if they did so, I think others would too.

Wii spots looks like a tech demo. I'd rather have a cheaper console and put the saved cash towards a different game.

Same here. I think I am gonna wait and see if they release a core package later, or just hope my roommate will get it.

Yeah. I'll wait until it's cheaper. Unless I see one in action and it totally seduces me.

I can live with the $250 price as it's still small enough and a one-time cost, but I'd prefer to get a choice of the bundled game. Why should I end up with a game that I know that no one here will be interested in playing? Assuming no choice, then I'll wait for a cheaper, gameless release, I suppose.
Also, I had hoped/expected that Wii games would be noticably cheaper than $50. At that price, essentially twice the price I pay today for PC games, I can't afford to pick one up unless I know it's one that I'll want to play, and for a long time.

I agree that it looks like a tech demo, but it might just be the perfect thing to get non-gaming people to try out the console. Think about it: Your parents are more likely to try to pick up the Wii-mote to play a game they're familliar with, like bowling or tennis. They know that to play tennis you swing a raquette or to bowl you bowl a ball. Both these motions are intuitive to the gameplay and is something they would be able to do the second they pick up the remote. Something like Zelda or Metroid would probably be too intimidating for them to pick up and play the first time they try the Wii.
Just think of Wii Sports as the gateway game to Wii addiction (Wii-diction?)

I was planning on buying it ever since the initial concept was announced years back. Although I was expecting it to be $50-$100 cheaper, the disappointment is relatively negligible, and It's still in the budget for November.

Me too. At $50 USD that means we'll be paying $60 to $65 CDN up here for those games, which isn't that far off from what we're paying currently for new releases. At first I thought they said a while back they'd be cheaper, but then I remember they said they'd be cheaper than the next-gen titles. Also keep in mind that that $50 price is for 1st part titles, the 3rd party publishers can set their own prices, and those are usually quite a bit cheaper.

yeah what happened to the promised $199 price tag? $250 is to high.. and your now bumping up into Xbox 360 Core territory.
edit..
$250 with Zelda as the pack in would have been worth it.. since thats the only game I'm interested in... though I suppose I could always get the GC version.
