Me and TrashieDawa have been tearing up the multiplayer beta for weeks now and we really enjoy this. Anyone else going to pick this up? How many of the Dawn of War faithfuls are making the move?

Not a big fan of WW2 games, but I will be getting this game.

You should have an option for 'My machne can play it, but it'll chug'. If you set up a weekly event that's at a reasonable hour for EUros, I'd play. Not worth it for the singleplayer though.

There is one option missing:

No idea when its released in Europe, someone say 22/09 others 29/09 Im not preordering until I know the exact date.

Hasbro may have bought the name Avalon Hill 10 years ago but to borrow a phrase, I knew Avalon Hill. It was a friend of Mine. You sir are no Avalon Hill.

I'm in the beta and will definitely be getting it. Suspect it will be shoved to the wayside with Dark Crusade coming out at the same time.

My days of not taking you seriously have certainly come to a middle.

Agreed. While I am a big fan of Relic, I'm out in the field now conducting research and will be busy until next week. By the time things settle down for me again Dark Crusade will be out soon so I will save my money for that one. Still, maybe during a slow gaming time in the next few months I may pick this one up.

Before I downloaded the demo I wasn't terribly excited about this one. Once I actually played it, it immediately went on my list of purchases for this month. Chalk me up as ready to fight through WWII once last time.. (By now, I've probably spent more hours playing WWII games than most soldiers actually served in that conflict..)

I had written this one off because I thought it would just be a Dawn of War rehash in a WWII setting and I've pretty much had my fill of both. Playing the demo changed my mind in a hurry though, count me in.

I'll be in based on the buzz and pending reviews. I just need to finish Titan Quest first.

I think I'm sold on this one, from what little Edwin told me, it seems realistic to company level tactics (which gives me a huge woody). I'll be waiting for a bit, maybe even a month, because I've got a few games I want to play.

We shall grapple with the ineffable, and see if we may not eff it after all.

For those up here in Canada, the non Collector's Edition of the game is available at future Shop for $10 off until the 17th. The game surprisingly is only $49.99 MSRP and $39.99 with the sale. Great deal!

Game was made in Vancouver so maybe a special Canadian discount?

Well, Future Shop does this temporary $10 discount on a regular basis for mainstream games. They also priced Titan Quest similarly. It seems to be something THQ is doing with their PC exclusive games. I'm not sure why, but hey I'm not complaining.

I really want to get it, I'm just afraid I'll get it, install it, and then never play it like I did the last RTS game I bought.

I've been playing the beta for a while now, and it's a very solid game. Only I'm a real nut for infantry, and infantry only just doesn't cut it. That's why I play 2vs2 with a friend of mine, he takes care of the tanking, I take care of the soft targets.

I'm still not sure if I'm gonna buy this, I have been awefully frustrated by this game, but that's probably more my own fault then the games fault. But misfiring rockets against a 1 HP tank just sucks.

I'll bet you can be successful with just infantry as long as you have some AT guns placed at some strategic points.

There was one game with TrashiDawa were I ran pure infantry. I had like 8 squads of Genadiers with Panzershreks and absolutly tore up armor.

Don't forget you can upgrade normal rifle infantry with recoilless rifles, evening out the score a bit, not to mention arty strikes and ground attack aircraft commander assets.

This game looks to be tearing up the ratings charts, ya gotta love Relic! (Note to self, buy more THQI)

Is this game hard to get into? Just bought an X1900XT with 512 megs and need something new to stretch it's legs.

Absolutely, the US airstrikes are almost too powerful.

Can you zoom out to a reasonable level in this game? One of the things that really annoyed me about Warhammer was the fact that you could zoom into someone's face, but you couldn't zoom out to see more than a tiny section of the map. The screenshots look ... ok, but it's hard to tell.

There is a small hack/mod that lets you zoom out really far in DoW. CoH does zoom out more than DoW by default and it has a commander map (keypad 0) to see all the units (yours and allies), territories, and stuff.

Check out the demo to get a good flavor for the tempo and style Divorced. The latest demo has a better traiming mode and 2 maps to test out (D-Day and Carentan).

It should give your new system a good workout too..

I picked it up today at Best Buy. When I got there they had a fair amount of space laid out for it, but lots of it was empty. There were two copies of the CD version, one DVD version, and one Collector's. I looked at the collector's edition, but all you're really getting for your ten bucks is a map, a bonus DVD, and a metal case. Since the regular DVD version came in one of those biggish DVD cases, I just bought that.

The last three copies had all sold by the time I walked through two DVD aisles and headed back to the register.

Played the first two single player missions and they are excellent.

Let me know via xfire if anyone is up for a multiplayer round vs the computer.
