Just saw THIS posted on bluesnews today. Damn. Now that's some awesome stuntage, nicely edited too. I then had manic fantasies about a mod for HL2 utilising a similar set of weapons combined with the grav gun and the upcoming Portal gun and went all shivery.

That was great. Always love the stunting vids.

Stunts like these are one of the reasons I never liked Quake 3 multiplayer.

It will pass in the blink of an eye. It's that good.

The music is great.

We shall grapple with the ineffable, and see if we may not eff it after all.

You like that one, check out this. Someone ran the same track 1000 times and recorded them all with the replay functionality of trackmania, then cut it all together.

The Quake one is.. boring. I mean it's cool that people can do all that stuff.. but it's not really any fun watching them hop around for twnety minutes

The Trackmania one is fairly impressive though, just from the standpoint of how much work it must've been.

Hmm so driving the same boring track a thousand times then editing them together with a single moby song versus finding all sorts of ways to exploit the physics of a game engine and then editing it together rather cleverly with all sorts of interesting transitions, programming third-person camera work themselves and creating most of their recording tech off their own back, and in fact producing your own mixes of all sorts of tunes and then beat-syncing the footage to the music?

Overall I'm sorry but I prefer the sheer levels of skill on show combined with all the effort gone into editing the video and the post-processing in the Quake 3 vid. I've seen the Trackmania vid before and was underwhelmed. It seems a lot more effort went into the Quake 3 vid whereas the Trackmania one exploited a gimmick and somebody drove around a track that was probably part of the game already 1000 times, compared to a lot of the levels in the Quake 3 vid that were custom made for a mod that looks to exploit stunting.

Actually, yeah, the Quake one was really boring, I didn't even bother watching it all the way. Just lame, to me. I recognize the skill, but it's still kinda boring.

The first 2 minutes of the quake video was interesting, the remaining 18 was them doing the exact same tricks over and over again.

I thought the video was great fun to watch....rocket jumping was one of the best parts of quake3 for me. Always felt this great rush when I timed it just right and nailed someone in flight.

Thanks for the link!

btw is that a special mod done for the express purpose of the tricks? I dont remember rocket jumping being so extensive...

Yeah I think they used this mod: DeFrag. Kinda annoyed I sold my copy of Quake 3 a few years back now, I'd have liked to mess about with it.

Indeed. I stated mine and you then proceeded to spend two paragraphs sounding offended because I didn't enjoy your link.
