Anyone else sign up for LOTR:O? Maybe we should all sign 'GWJ' or 'Gamers With Jobs' as our guild and maybe get a better chance of gettin in? (just a thought)...

Quote:
Dear 342573251,

Thank you for being a part of The Lord of the Rings Online™: Shadows of Angmar™ community! This summer is going to be a very busy one for LOTRO, so we'd like to take a moment to share some of the things that we are working on with you.

If you are part of a guild in another MMOG don't forget to get other members of your online gaming guild to register – if someone in your guild gets into the Beta, it automatically increases your chance of getting in. The top 10 largest guilds will automatically receive up to 100 Beta invites and the remaining top 90 will get up to 20 invites! So even if your guild isn't very large, it still benefits you and your guildmates to all sign up. The best way to encourage guildmates to sign up is to post the LOTRO Beta URL (http://lotro.turbine.com/betasignup) on your guild forum or email it to your guildmates directly.

We'd also like to mention that we've published a new What is LOTRO? feature on our website. We've combed over all of our previous interviews, articles, and dev diaries to compile a definitive summary of what LOTRO is all about. If you're new to the community, you'll most likely find this information very useful.

Development on the game is proceeding rapidly. Beta invites won't be far behind!

Thanks again for being a part of the community, and we hope to see you in Middle-earth sometime soon!

Sincerely,
The LOTRO Community Team

I am signed up, yah I got the same email, we should definately sign up as a guild. We need to agree on guild name though. I vote GWJ, since that is what we use in WoW.

I updated my beta app and put GWJ as the guildname and the gamers with jobs site as the guild webpage. Hopefully Certis and Elysium won't beat me.

Does this mean we should change our guild size to 100-200?

We literally have more than that on the boards, but not all would play I don't think. I just hope they don't see that as us "padding" our answers.

Well, the GWJ guild on WoW is huge... Even if a good portion are alts.

Besides, 20 invites would probably cover most of the people that apply.

So who would get to decide who gets the invites, and who doesn't if its more than 20 people who apply?

I'd go by whoever signed up here in the order they did. But I'm #3 or 4 so I may be biased.

I signed up, but as fewer and fewer games run on Win 98 I don't know if they will accept me, and if the site gets invites I will of course defer If I can't run it. If I can, I would be happy to duel for a spot, say pistols at dawn?

Posting on the boards is easy. The trick is to kick someone's ass the first day, or become someone's bitch. Chiggie Von Richthofen on how to transition from lurker to poster.
