WoW UI n00b help?
I haven't played all that much WoW - built my first character to level 20, have my current character at 11 so far.
I messed around with a UI mod or two before, but they were so overwhelming... everything + kitchen sink, it seemed.
What UI mods should I definitely look at? Some things that I used before were obviously helpful, like X,Y coordinates. Other things seemed to be things that would be useful eventually, and still others seemed of questionable use at all. But they all came in one big fat download and I couldn't figure out what was what in order to turn certain things off.
So, give a n00b some help. ![]()

Titan should be all the UI you really need. There is one called combatstats I think that gives you more detail (numbers overhead) about combat. I used monkeyquest as well. When you moused over objects it would tell you what profession used them or if you needed them for a quest.

Can't go wrong with Titan Panel IMO. It gives you a ton of information without having to open a punch of windows. Some of the add-ons for it are great too.
Beyond that it's tough to say without knowing some other info. The two big questions that immediately come to mind are: 1.) What classes are your toons? 2.) What professions do they have?
I have one of each Alliance class (though the preist and pally under lvl 10) and have decent mods for each I'd be happy to recommend. I use the default UI with some add-ons rather than a total revamp like Discord simply because my set up works just fine for me and I don't want to be bothered with invovled configurations.

I prefer BossPanel to Titan, personally, but they serve the same purpose.
I highly, highly, highly recommend Watchdog for unitframes, especially for hybrid healers.
Bongos is the best actionbar/button mod I've found. It's very configurable without the pain of Discord Action Bars or Flexbar.
All-In-One-Inventory(one big bag instead of 5 smaller ones).
Auctioneer if you plan on playing the market.
Atlas for in-game instance maps.
Darkmoon Faire helper(I think that's what it's called, gives a tooltip when you mouseover something that's a fair turn-in)
Cirk's Blessings for Paladins
Alternate Global Strings(not really a UI mod, but changes some startup variables like not showing "[Guild]" in front of guildchat - the color is enough, really.)
I have a lot more, but those are the ones I think I couldn't live without. If you have something specific you want different, what is it?

Word of advice... I HATE HATE HATE all-in-one inventory. If you're like me and want to organize your inventory its horrible. i liek to keep my mats in one or 2 bags, and keep quest items in another. My main backpack has my food/water and my sellable vendor crap. In my second bag I keep my pots (which you want to have on your toolbar anyway so I really don't need to open a bag to use them)

I've dealt with that, paint, by organizing from the bottom up...
Drinks, potions, food, alternate weapons, fishing pole, etc start at the bottom of the single bag. Argent Dawn commision top left.
That way, except for the commission, all my loot fills in from the top left, which it wants to do anyway. When I sell/AH/giveaway, it comes from the top. Easy.
Smelting, I don't need to see the ores, so that's no biggie.
I love AIOI. I hate doing the inventory shuffle, and AIOI makes it easier for me.

I tried that and It didn't work well for me... but hey I see how it could be a nice mod, just not for me. Had it started that way I'd probably be ok with it.

Since you don't know what most of your buttons do, you won't need a mod anyway

Of course, I'm a mod maniac. I'm a code-monkey, so naturally I gravitate towards complexity.
Here's a UI I'm working on (artwork is not mine, only chopped up and arranged by me):
I'm not completely finished with it. It's built around the warlock class.
Mod's used to get the look:
Other mods I find useful:
I've always wanted to get DAB, DArt, DUF, and DFM to play nice with all my other mods, and to get my UI "just right", but it is truly painful to try to set them up. Especially when you only have a limited amount of game time. I'd just rather not use it tinkering with the game - if I have time to play, I'd rather play.
That is what ultimately led me to my current UI, Watchdog and Bongos in particular. Watchdog is a healer's wetdream of a mod, IMO.

personally I go for Insomniax compilation, very nice all in one mod. But it sounds like you are going for something slightly less inclusive
What is it you are looking for in a mod and for what classes? that would help in recommending any particular mod to you.
