Now that people have basically hacked the client to show "nude" night elves, I suspect this is another hack job.

I think the Pandaren thing was blown out of proportion and Blizzard hadn't really done any pre-work to add Pandaren. Even the few screenshots anyone found were 'shopped' up images. I think one of the guys from Mac Hall owned up to that recently.
I do think that Blizzard sees a lot of advantage in re-using an existing modelled race in the game, not unlike Blood Elves. Perhaps cenarian druids or centaurs. It could literally be anything. Blizzard is not above working some story-line magic to get a race where they want it.

Case in point, Blood Elves. Im not any sort of pissed off about it. It just doesnt fit and of course they are appropriately vague about the circumstances. So it works.
But Im playing EQ2 now. So dont mind me =P

Worgen would be cool, but I'm betting on some unknown faction of Draeniei or Pandaren.

I heard mention of possible timbermaw being a alliance race... but that would be odd as they're neutral now.

Just to be absolutely safe, I'm deleting a couple of Alliance characters and making ones with names like "SeksyPandaGurl" just to keep them out of circulation...

Im not sure how that fits into "outland theme", but i still think its the furbolgs. Another idea are dryads, the "good" version of the centaurs. In both cases we have the lore that they fit to the alliance, the "falling leaves" and a certain "coolness" factor, but i dont see the outland ties. The dryads are also too pretty to be the new race, its said Alliance gets the "ugly" race this time.
The only races having an outland-factor are imho Blood Elves (Horde), Draenei, Ogres and Naga.
Im not sure but i think someone from Blizz said its not Draenei.
Naga are evil and allied with the Blood Elves, i doubt its them.
Ogres are evil too, but on the other hand, they did the same with the trolls, only one tribe joined the horde, the others are still evil, they could do this with ogres too. I miss the "falling leaves", but there are ogres in forest areas... the first time you meet them as alliance is in Darkshire Forest.
sooo... i say Furbolgs with Ogres as a close second.
Remember they need to be able to wear armor.
Also, another problem with all those races is shamanism.

Cant be Ogres. They have that town in Dustwallow Marsh (Braken something) that is horde friendly, complete with flight path.

They can justify anything really... just have them be a "Faction" of any particular race.. just like Trolls, Orcs etc...

Not really justification. Might as well say Dwarves can't be Alliance because of the Black Irons, or Humans can't be alliance because of the Defias Brotherhood/BloodsailBuccaneers/etc, and so on.
I don't think there's a single race in game that is playable AND ONLY playable.

Well, there are quite a few Blood/High Elves in Theramore, Stormwind, Nethergarde Keep - and as mentioned by GG, Blizz can justify anything. No faction ever dies off completely, or has 100% of their number commited to anything. There's more than one orc in the game who won't attack the alliance, and vice-versa.
I'm hoping they just go ahead and announce it, and end all the speculation. Of course, they're probably enjoying it.

I would think Furbolgs would be a good choice for alliance -- kind of analagous to Tauren. They may have the most content already in place of most of the NPC races.
